Brown Stew Chicken Lunch Special

NOT EVEN GONNA LIE you just can't go wrong with Tropicana.. I've been going here for about 5 years now and honestly the quality has stayed the same (great) and i even still see some of the same people too! This is the lunch special for $8 !!! For that price you can't beat it , the flavors are all there and the brown stew is just perfect with the rice and peas

The food here is very good. I pick up food for my mom whom is very very particular about her food.. I've been here several times for the lunch special, which is really reasonably priced. My food order is always correct, as well as the food is always hot and fresh. Ordering by phone is a breeze.

Veggie Stir Fry with curry sauce

Tropicana never misses! I have been a patron here for years and their food has yet to disappoint. I usually get the veggie stir fry which contains rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. You can get any sauce added with the meal for no additional cost. I usually get curry or jerk sauce. Besides their food, what I love the most about this restaurant is their affordable prices. If you have the chance to come here during lunch hours, you can get a curry chicken meal, a jerk chicken meal, or a brown stew chicken meal for only $6! That's almost impossible to get at other Caribbean spots. And on top of that, it's very filling too!

The food was good - but they have the WORST customer service.... I'll go back only because the food is delicious - however we as consumers shouldn't have to deal with nasty attitudes!!!

Lady that has attitude

Make sure you ask them is the food fresh first because they gave me old oxtails that wouldn't even come off the bone they were so tuff. Food is good when they make it right and they be having attitudes an this lady is the main one who has an attitude she should just work in the back but the food is good when it's made right.

Society Seafood has officially revamped, renovated, and reopened with a refreshed concept centered…read morearound upscale coastal seafood and bold Caribbean-inspired flavors, so I had to check it out. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, which were rich and flavorful, followed by the Grand Marnier Society Wings--a standout appetizer with a great balance of sweet and savory flavors. The Mac & Cheese was creamy and made for the perfect side. For our entrées, we ordered the Calypso Pan Seared Branzino and the Coconut Curry Snapper. Both dishes were served with vegetables of the day, rice and peas, and sweet plantains, creating a well-rounded and satisfying meal. The seafood was cooked well, and the Caribbean-inspired flavors added a unique twist to each dish. For drinks, we enjoyed The Pearl, the Lavender French 75, The Golden Hour, and an Old Fashioned. Each cocktail was well-crafted and paired nicely with the menu. We finished with the Warm Cookie Skillet, topped with vanilla bean ice cream and a caramel drizzle. It arrived warm, gooey, and was the perfect dessert to share. Beyond the food, the renovated space feels modern and inviting, making it a great option for date nights, celebrations, or a night out with friends. If you're looking for an elevated seafood experience with Caribbean-inspired flavors, Society Seafood is worth checking out.

It was too early for happy…read morehour, but they have great happy hour times that run into 7 for future reference This establishment looks unappealing from the outside, but as soon as you step it, it demands respect: beautiful set up! We were greeted by Tom, who was working behind the bar. He also became our waiter. He suggested items from the menu and was extremely friendly and helpful. Based off his recommendation, I ordered the paratha brisket sandwich with calaloo soup. YUMMY- no other words. He advised to dip the sandwich (with the bread made in house) into the soup- it was tasty! Note- this item is only available on the lunch menu with the soup and sandwich as a combo. I also ordered jerk wings to share with my guest, which were 8.9/10- and my guest had the wing bowl, which isn't showing on the menu. The bowl came with veggies: greens, cabbage, coconut rice. The chef was able to make the orders Treenutt allergy safe- thank you. Overall amazing experience, and I'll be back to try more in the menu and drinks next time.

This place did not disappoint. First, make a reservation. I cannot stress this enough. It gets packed. Second, come hungry and with a group if you want more options to try. This is definitely a place where sharing makes sense. The oxtail was extremely tender and flavorful, with that rich, slow-cooked depth you want from oxtail without it feeling heavy. The jerk wings are a must-have. Perfectly seasoned with that unmistakable jerk flavor and just the right amount of spiciness. The dipping sauce helps temper the heat without completely taking away the flavor. The fried snapper with rice was exceptional. The whole fish was beautifully crispy on the outside while remaining tender inside, and the coconut-based sauce/chutney brought a bright, tangy contrast to the fried fish. The roti comes with options for proteins. We picked the goat and beef, along with chickpeas and pumpkin. The tender, savory meat paired really well with the creamy, curried chickpeas and slightly sweet pumpkin. It also came with three dipping sauces and roti, giving us plenty of different flavor combinations to try! As for sides, absolutely get the plantains and macaroni pie. The plantains were cooked perfectly and beautifully caramelized, with a ginger glaze that was not overwhelmingly gingery. Even Michelin specifically calls out St. James' sweet plantains finished with candied ginger. The macaroni pie is basically macaroni and cheese's Caribbean cousin ! It is creamy, cheesy, baked/grilled until you get those delicious browned edges, with seasoning that gives it a distinctly Caribbean character. St. James was added to the MICHELIN Guide Washington, D.C. selection, so apparently our hopes and dreams were not misplaced. It isn't Michelin-starred or a Bib Gourmand; it's a Michelin Guide Selected restaurant. Reasonable prices for sure! Absolutely amazing meal! 10/10! 5/5! Whatever the metrics are!!!

Caribbean Dish

At heart, I'm a man that truly enjoy most Caribbean dishes ( oxtails, goat, curry/jerk chicken,…read moreroti, etc ) So, I set out on a quest to give a new Caribbean cuisine restaurant a shot at winning me over. That's when I bumped into Caribbean Dish... The name got me, yes it's basic, but the title was exactly what I was looking for. The restaurant is in a small unassuming parking lot... if you don't know it's there, you probably will miss it ( so glad I didn't !! ) The minute I walked in, I felt authentic family vibes ( something I look for when choosing my Caribbean locations ) The service was very friendly, and they cleared everything up when I wasn't sure if my particular craving could be fulfilled ( the combo I desired wasn't on their daily menu ) My sights were set on the oxtail and curry goat combo ( of course with rice & peas and veggies ! ) And when I say the goat was tender, and seasoned to perfection... while the oxtails had that juicy meatiness that will for sure keep me coming back. The rice & peas were cooked just right ( texture was on point ) and the veggies still had that freshness that brought everything else together. I love my Caribbean dishes saucy and not dry ( they get two thumbs up in that department ! ) Family vibes, cheerful greeting, and amazing food.... Caribbean Dish you just locked yourself in a loyal customer !!!!! Give them a shot and I can almost guarantee you won't be disappointed !!!

I have been wanting to avoid this, but I think it's time that I mention it finally. I tried through…read moreseveral outlets to address it offline and did not get a response. This is some of the best Trinidadian food in the area, and arguably the best breakfast and doubles. But unfortunately, and I see I'm not the only one, it is the owners that bring it down. My sister was visiting all the way from NYC (where she can easily get amazing Trini food) and I was so excited for her to try this place. It was my first time coming on an afternoon, and they happen to be out of a couple of the things that we were really excited about (i.e. doubles) and so my sister tried to make a veggie platter. He asked what she would like in it and he responded "that's not a veggie" and proceeded to say other snarky comments that got increasingly inflammatory. She called him out for being rude and he actually said to me "I feel bad for what you have to deal with, you two can't be close." The embarrassment I had was immeasurable and I felt so bad for being so excited for her to experience that. It doesn't matter how delicious food is anywhere, but if the ones in charge are disrespectful, there's a moral issue. They also forgot my side of pumpkin that we paid for. Take this information as you will, but if you do go, my recommendation is to avoid talking with them as much as possible and try online ordering/pickup or delivery. It's really unfortunate.
