Of I could leave zero stars I would, run dont walk away from this place , its a hold in the wall , the service was bearely okay , food was just okay, I was OVER CHARGEd, be careful they add all these bar fees to your bill , I wasn't even at the bar . Updating to add other things we've tried. The Cajun fries are the bomb. Weirdly enough, I think I had a totally different regular fry than either the first time (when they were perfect) or my second time (when they weren't amazing). Last night they were kind of in between but the Cajun fries were perfect. Maybe they have an inconsistent fry supplier? Not sure. Anyway. They added a barbeque pork appetizer, and for $6 it's a great deal. It could easily have been a meal for me if I ate it all myself. I really like the sauce, and the pork itself was also tasty if maybe a teensy bit dry on the inside (the sauce very much helps with that). I totally want to try the bbq spareribs next time but the pork was very satisfying. Still love the shrimp and catfish baskets, we ended up bringing half of it home. They have a bunch of smoothie flavors so sometime when we don't order an appetizer I want to try one. Hubby had a couple of the old fashioneds, and liked them once he stirred them a bit - they use sugar instead of simple syrup so it fell to the bottom. The diet pepsi from the fountain is still on point. I want to try more of their Chinese food too. read more

Sat immediately, but took a while for what I assume was the bartender to take my order since he was working the bar when I was seated. He didn't seem to understand what I had ordered. Kung Pao Shrimp. "Do you want it spicy?" Hmm...yes. "What side?" What? "White or fried rice?" Oh, white. Food was okay. Nothing special. Had to flag down the hostess for a refill of water as bartender never returned and I couldn't get his attention as he was talking with a lady at the bar. I walked today in and politely asked the man at the desk who was too busy playing on his phone for a table for 2. He looked at me as if i was disturbing him and said "have a seat" rudely. I just left immediately after because if the service is that bad then of course the food will be too. That attitude is not good for business The place is also not that clean! Don't knock it until you try it. Twice in one week. Seafood is very fresh. Mr Paul and ms Karen are such a great team. NO "KARENS" here they treat everyone EQUAL. The food and conversation on point. CLEAN (including restroom) AND NO HARSH SMELLS. The bar doesn't have fruit flies flying around. And glasses actually look like if you didn't have straws I still might drink off the cup , jk. But this place is really clean. Food was so fresh I had to blow my shrimp. I stumbled upon here after doing some shopping on a Saturday, And went that Sunday to watch the game. Lol. I went to Karen's Seafood today stated my 1st time here. I tried the Crab Cake was TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED!!! the filling was not pleasing to taste then Lumps of Crab meat laid on top. I ordered fried catfish platter and it was delicious, well seasoned and super crispy. I asked for Cajun fries, but the had no spice... it was more like seasoned fries. I'll be going back and try other seafood and Chinese dishes. read more

Racist remarks from the OWNER "Karen" 7/5/2021. I had a mobile take out order. I came into pick it up and not even greeted by the owner I later found out. She checks the computer and finds my order. Then asks if I'm the driver. I told her no. It's my order, I ordered online. I then tell her what I ordered again. She goes to get the receipt and reads back to me what I said and my name. The tells me she can't give me the food because "people like me have been taking food". I was on the phone with my sister who heard this exchange word for word. SHE THEN TELLS me I need to produce ID. I show her. She reads my name and then says I can't really tell if it's for you or not. I was livid. The PLACE IS BONE DRY EMPTY. NOT A SOUL IN THE PLACE, I was literally the only order. You can see my single ass order in the back in the pictures. However, at my physical appearance is intimidating; i left immediately. This is why I buy black. I didn't feel like driving to red crab house and seeing how I was new to the area wanted to give this place a chance. NEVER. EVER. AGAIN. Careless in preparation of food, endanger a customer's health, and EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. I've ordered seafood combo at this place twice, and both times, they gave me spoiled food. Out of fear of food poising, I threw out the first order and wasted $45. The second time around, before picking up my order, I notified the older lady (who I think is the owner) of the incident and cautioned her to take be more careful on how they prepare their food. Well the joke is on me, because the same thing happened the second time around too. This time, I took the order back and asked for a refund. The owner was appalled I would ask a refund on food I've started eating. However, completely neglected to acknowledge the rotten potato that I discovered on the bag. Not only that, she accused me of being a racist, stating that I am threatening their business because "we are Chinese". Her baseless accusations, her lack of ownership, her insult, her refusal to acknowledge the wrong that has been done led me to file a complaint with the Montgomery County's Office of Consumer Protection. I am all for small businesses. However, a business has to respect their customers and care for the quality of service they provide and not hide behind coward excuses. Our health are far too important, especially during a pandemic, to be neglected in such a way. read more

We stopped by in the first week of opening as we were excited to try a new seafood spot :) This is more of a 3.5 star than 4 star. Food: 4/5 We ordered: -Fried Calamari. This came out very late (more under Service). It's a small basket of calamari, a bit overly salted. No sauces given - only upon request. (We asked for tartar sauce). -Sweet potato fries. For $4, would definitely order again! Long potatoes, and not too salty. -Flavors: 1. Garlic butter seasoning and mild: Delicious! Our favorite combination! (We have a toddler, so have to stick with mild). Very garlicy, and very flavorful. We had clams, crawfish, and shrimp (headed) with it. Will definitely be ordering this flavor combination from now on. 2. Louisiana seasoning and medium hot: The server got our order wrong for this one, and it was mild (even the receipt showed mild.) The Louisiana Seasoning was not flavorful at all. Tasted more water than seasoning. Asked to have it medium hot, and add more seasoning - came back MUCH better! Medium hot had a good kick to it, and they added more seasoning. This is more of the server's fault for getting the order incorrect. Service: 2/5 -The service is absolutely friendly! When we came in, there were no other patrons. The server was cleaning the tables with cleaning agents. -The server, however, did not meet her job expectations. When she took our order, she did not write anything down. This is where all the mistakes began. -Asked for 2 cups water with no ice, and 1 cup water with ice. She came back with all 3 cups iced water (too cold for my son). -Ordered calamari appetizer first. This came out the very last. The server said that "there were several orders of calamari ahead of us." Again, nearly empty dining room (2 people came in after us). So a total of 5 patrons in the dining room. They did have a few take out orders, but nothing that should stop us from getting the calamari first, or with our seafood, or when the fries came out. Don't lie. Just say you forgot. I'd be less upset with the truth than: there are too many orders ahead of us. -Ordered 1/2 lb crawfish medium hot, and 1.5 lb's crawfish, shirmp, clams as mild. EVERYTHING came back as mild. That was disappointing. Had to ask for the medium hot to have some spice. -Had to ask for bibs (we weren't offered). -Owner brought out the paper towels, since the server only gave us 5 napkins. -Ordered sweet potato fries shortly after receiving the seafood. It came out quickly. Ambiance: 4/5 -Very nice ambiance in the restaurant. Tables spaced out well, also with some booth seating. -Huge fish tank. Only 5-6 fishies in there, but fun enough for my son to watch them swim around. -1 TV in there. Can ask them to change the channels and it was not overly loud. They've only been opened a week, and I believe they can only get better from here! There's nothing "embarrassing" to write down the orders so that they come out 100% correct! I would definitely try them out again, but in the mean time, maybe just stick to carry out. read more

Spent 200 on bland seafood, when i saw the bag it just look like butter and seafood we didnt even finish the second bag we got, it Went to the trash except for the snow crab clusters. The sauce we decided to go with was the karen special. Nothing special about it. I rather make the drive to red crabhouse for good seasoned seafood. I will come back to try the chinese food. Corn was very hard to bite, potatoes did not soak all the juice like it should. Still felt raw. One thing i can say is if you took the mussel and scooped the sauce at very bottom of bag you got a little salty taste. read more

The fried catfish was tasteless; the calamari and the fish were coated in the same bland batter; the fries were soggy; the steamed oysters were bereft of flavor; senselessly, the sausage was sliced in one eighth of an inch disks and was served in a vile broth. Absolutely everything lacked salt. The fruit punch had no ice but still tasted watered down.
