We stopped in last weekend. It is cleanly decorated, and service was efficient. Food was piping hot and fresh! They had half priced oysters on fridays, which we took advantage of. You do have to pay for sauce which I think is a bit of a gouge since it's already expensive. It is a crab house so no fancy wine on the menu. I would definitely return.

This is one of the better crab spots in the Silver Spring area. They have a large area where you can eat your crabs there or you can take them to go. They also have a menu of other items on the menu, like shrimp platters, hush puppies, fried oysters etc. But I have not tried them. Their crabs are pretty good, it's rare that I will have a bad crab. Naturally crabs can be on the pricey side but this place doesn't take advantage. Their customer service is always great, no complaints there.

Was in the area and saw good reviews for this place. Definitely exceeded our expectations, we've eaten at a lot of seafood boil places before. We got: - Steamed crabs with old bay - Crab sauce which has like ten different ingredients (this is a separate charge but they give you the container to take home as well) - crawfish - Fries - onion rings The Fries came out first and I have to say it was perfectly cooked. Someone knows how to deep fry back there (not dripping oil and perfect crisp. We had to order the onion ring since the fries were done so well. Crabs were tasty. Service was great, our discard container was changed out 3 times.

    1/2 dozen, $48. Yikes.

The best place to get take-out crabs. We order a half-bushel from JC Crab house at least 3 times a year and we are never disappointed.

With the pandemic receding, have they opened up for eat in dining?

    Yes, they offer on-site dining.

This place is so confusing. No website? The phone number listed here is not working? We live close by, and would love to support this small biz I feel like I'm jumping through hoops trying to get in contact with them 🤷🏻‍♀️?

I ate from there about a week and half ago. They are open. 13018793888

One of the highlights was the bottomless brunch, which made for a fun and enjoyable experience. The food was full of flavor and tasted fresh. Every dish was well-seasoned that keeps you coming back for more. The portions were satisfying, and everything arrived hot and beautifully presented. What stood out the most was the hospitality. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The only downside to our visit was the live band performing inside the restaurant. While the music added to the atmosphere, it was so loud that we couldn't comfortably hear the people at our table or have a conversation. Because of the noise level, we ultimately chose to move to the outdoor seating, where we were able to enjoy our meal and each other's company much more comfortably.

The outdoor area approaching was really nice and had a pleasant vibe, and the inside ambiance was cool too -- good atmosphere overall. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. We were told we couldn't be seated in a booth because of a section closure, but about 10 minutes later a family was seated in that same section. When we asked about it, we were told staff "thought the staff was leaving" -- which didn't really add up and felt like an inconsistent excuse. It also took about 20 minutes for anyone to greet our table, and another 10 minutes after that just to get water. Once we did order, there wasn't much guidance from staff -- no recommendations on best sellers or specifics about the entrees, just general "it's good" responses across the board. Food-wise, it was a mixed bag: Seafood egg rolls -- really good Stuffed shrimp -- really good Spinach dip -- not the best Lamb chops (my entree) -- two good ones, two very fatty chops that were not good around 8/10 they were seasoned well! Mashed potatoes -- not good Spinach side -- not good bland, needed seasoning Mac n cheese -- pretty good Overall the meat itself was underwhelming given the price point/expectations, seasoning was it! The food had some genuine highlights, but between the slow service, the seating mix-up, and a few misses on the sides, the overall experience didn't quite live up to expectations. Might give it another shot for the ambiance, but hoping for better service next time!

I'm still fairly new to the area and had been wanting to try this location for a while, but it's usually been too busy during my previous visits. I stopped by yesterday for happy hour and ordered a seafood boil, and it ended up being one of the worst I've had. Something about it just seemed off, and the flavor was noticeably different from other locations I've visited. I'm not sure what went wrong, but it was disappointing. The only redeeming part of my visit were the happy hour drinks, which honestly made the meal a bit easier to get through. Because I've not found real Louisiana boudin anywhere else in the DC area, and because of the family's hospitality, I will give them 4 stars. The Jambalaya Shack is a catering business that was present at this past weekend's Breaux Vineyards Cajun Festival. They're from southern Louisiana, and seem to get invited to cater many of their events. They had jambalaya, corn maque choux, and boudin links. Because I was waiting on live boiled crawfish from another vendor, I decided to just share a link of boudin for $5. Their young boy said after I ordered, "Sure! You have to ring the boudin bell!" So I did, while his mother laughed and wrapped up a link for me. She made sure I knew how to eat it (I did), and I asked her if it was spicy or not (she said not at all...probably due to the DC clientele...but that they were good and that they shipped them straight from Louisiana). They also had an assortment of mild Cajun seasonings and hot sauces. It was not the best boudin I've ever had (that one goes to the Boudin King in Louisiana), but it was slightly better than the boudin I can get at the grocery store in Texas (but bigger). The Jambalaya Shack's also had good amounts of little liver pieces in it. I wish I had had hotter seasonings (cayenne chile powder would have been awesome) to spice it up with... I wish I had also tried their namesake jambalaya, but it was the chicken/sausage variety and other than the boudin, I was in the mood for seafood. I do think I was the only person I saw at the festival that tried the boudin (or probably knew what it was). Speaking of seafood, the other caterer's boiled crawfish was bland, and Jambalaya Shack was nice enough to let us have some of their seasonings. They saved the day.
