I was very disappointed with my experience at Tropical tonight due to the unprofessional and rude behavior of one of the employees. My fiancé and I arrived at 8:10, and upon entering, the employee immediately sighed loudly when she saw us. She then told her coworker to take our order so that she could finish what she was doing, adding that otherwise they would never get out of there tonight. When we ordered a peanut butter drink, she sighed again and tilted her head back in frustration. I would understand if we had come in just a few minutes before closing, but this was not the case. read more

I actually really like the smoothies here and the food is pretty good! Definitely healthy options! However, I'm very disappointed with my last couple orders. Today, I ordered the Chicken Caprese sandwich. This sandwich comes with tomatoes which is really the reason I ordered it. They did not put tomatoes on my sandwich. This is the second time this has happened. I got over it the first time, but by the second time I was annoyed. I did order DoorDash while I was at work so I did really understand them not able to do much. They did offer me a free sandwich, but I didn't really want that. I just wanted the one I paid for to have just been correct. Since I was at work, I couldn't really leave to go pick up a new one. I did get a refund from DoorDash. I have hypoglycemia and my blood sugar was low at this point so I really just needed to eat and didn't feel like dealing with it any further. It was just really disappointing to order from a place that can't seem to make an order correctly and then not be able to have anything done about it. I get that's a risk you run with ordering DoorDash, but it would be nice if they were able to make menu items correctly. As I said, it came with tomatoes. I wasn't adding them. I did not ask to have the sandwich altered in any way. This place is so new to the neighborhood and it's not good for them to already be this careless. read more

I went to the Mount Airy, MD location. I experiences horrible customer service by "acting" manager "Pam". Saw what I wanted on-line (Chocolate Covered Strawberry) smoothie. Pam was very rude and would not make my drink - said that it is only available online. After we had to listen to her rude mouth, another employee said that he would make it. This is the worse excuse for customer service that I have ever experienced. Pam needs some additional training in how to treat customers. read more

Keep in mind I understand that this is a new location. In the past 3 months (pretty much since they opened) I have purchased smoothies and food 5 times. Different flavors of smoothies, bowls, wraps, flatbreads, and a sandwich. Just to get an idea of how the food and smoothies are. This place should just be a Jamba Juice because in my honest opinion all the food is dog shit. The only wrap I liked is no longer on the menu, guess it was a limited time thing. The smoothies on the other hand are incredibly good so I'm definitely going to continue to get smoothies just not food. So beyond the food and on to the customer service. Out of the 5 times I ordered here 3 of my visits were missing items. First time my bowls did not have the jerk sauce and it seemed like the staff was so confused as if they didn't even know the ingredient existed. I had to go back to the store for the sauce and the manager(s) hid in the back and did not approach me to apologize for me having to drive back out just for the sauce. Didn't even matter as I said the food just sucks. Second thing, they have this new smoothie that comes with this lime edible straw. They didn't give me the edible straw. Then the last time I ordered one pair and save, wanted to try another wrap, got it delivered and they didn't bring my food. I had to call the store to let them know and when the employee answered the phone she just said "uhm he's busy call back in 15 minutes" which is really unprofessional. If a customer is calling asking to speak with a manager it's most likely not for small talk. The manager there did deliver my wrap that was missing but of course the convenience of the delivery was pointless after this. I really feel like I gave them a good try and the last wrap I had solidified my decision in not getting food anymore. The food is just not good. Smoothies though, are definitely worth even the price. That's probably what it is, the food definitely isn't worth the price point that tropical smoothie sets it for. Hope this helps anyone looking to get food from here.
