I finally decided to try this place today. I placed a pickup order for a Sunrise Sunset smoothie (strawberries, mango, pineapple and orange juice) for a little more than $6 with tax. It took 10 mins or less from the time I placed my order to receipt. The size of the smoothie was huge...much larger than I expected. The flavors were...meh...for a $6 smoothie I expected to taste each and every flavor but instead it just tasted watered down. Do they use fresh fruits? I couldn't tell. Honestly, Smoothie King beats them in price and quality so far. I would still come back and try other flavors though. Next time might surprise me. Also another thing to note...the outside was very run down. Honestly just by looking at the outside I probably wouldn't have come in to this establishment to place an order. Dropping a star because frankly there is no reason to charge extra for substituting vegetarian chicken for real chicken. When you ask them to remove a protein that is built into the $6.99 cost for another protein they already provide it should be a lateral swap. I have been to many tropical smoothie however this one has gots to be the worst one ever. There are at least five employees behind the counter no one on the register. The African American female had to ask someone to come from the back to get on the register while she put on gloves take off gloves and flipped a sandwich. The one girl comes to the register for one customer who was in front of me then walked away when it was my turn. She did not say "someone will be with you," matter of fact didn't say anything at all. The guy was the only one really doing his job and The little girl who finally asked if myself and the othe four people behind me were being helped, since Ms. Rude body wasn't in the mood to be helpful. If I could go here every day, I totally would. I love the friendly and fast service, but more importantly the food and smoothies are incredible. My favorite smoothie is the Mango Magic, which is huge and has such a strong fresh mango taste. It's a little bit on the pricey side but totally worth it in my opinion. I also love the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Wrap and Ultimate Club Sandwich, both of which are full of flavor and good portions. The ingredients are fresh and everything is made upon order. This location is relatively small but still has plenty of space to dine in and hang out if you want. Carry-out is great as well, and there's a ton of parking in the shopping center. Everything is clean here and I love the fact that you can see your smoothie being blended up fresh. I can't wait to return here and try more of the smoothies and sandwiches. read more

Stop here frequently when doing errands nearby. The food is all made to order. The smoothies are about all I can eat. That is because of surgery can not consume solid foods. Not good service- we tried ordering multiple times through the app since we had a 10% off discount-unfortunately the app wasn't working at the time. We decided to just head to the store and try to have them enter our discount, but when we got there they said "you have no rewards" even though it said the reward didn't expire until August of 2022. The girl at the register want willing to help or even try to honor the deal from our app, so she made us pay full price. What's the point of having the app to earn rewards if the people at the store don't even honor it when you have a reward right in your app? Ridiculous. Literally the worst tropical smoothie i've ever been to. There were at least 6 workers there and not one at the register! One of the boys there was eating instead of coming to take my order!! I first came upon this place about 2 weeks ago and it was a wonderful experience! Food was fresh and healthy and clean! Smoothies were huge! The manager Tameka was so friendly and accommodating even gave a BOGO card for the next visit. I been so excited to go back! Well, now today I finally went back and needless to say my review shows I am not a happy camper. I ordered a combo wrap and smoothie and used my BOGO card. I thought my meal was gonna cost $12 after tax. Nope, it did not. They charged me for the whole 2nd meal and only gave me a partial $2 discount for the smoothie. The wrap costs $7 and the smoothie $5 individually (I'm rounding btw). As a combo they discount the smoothie from $5 down to $3. So instead of charging me $3 for smoothie they upcharged it to give me a discount! What kind of business model is this?! When I questioned, I was told that they can't discount the 2nd combo and can only give the lesser amount free. Then when I questioned again, why they overcharged the smoothie they stated by they were not ringing up the meal as a combo, it is full price. And then the 2 girl employees walk away smirking and talking about me...WTH?! --- Horrible customer service, they simply didn't care. Even if they wouldn't BOGO the whole combo they should've done it for the wrap. And key word is wouldn't bc they can, but chose not to. Needless to say, This experience was very disappointing! and the manager should be ashamed that her employees whether by her leadership or not took advantage of their customers. I would've gave them a 1 star, but the food is still very good. Be warned folks, some businesses trick u to come back only to rear their ugly head. Placed an order to be ready at the very beginning of my 30 minute lunch break, I received the notification my order was ready for pick up so I go in, my order isn't on the table with a random 3 pick up orders, at the counter the girl had 15 bags in front of her. I waited even longer to ask because I saw she was clearly overwhelmed. I asked for my order, she's frantically looking around shuffling through every single bag. I kept waiting. Eventually I go grab my phone thinking it could be a different location (there's only 1 in town). I walk back in to the girl loudly saying to a coworker that I must've ordered it incorrectly or to the wrong location.. I showed her and another worker my phone stating ready for pick up at their location, just 2 items. They keep trying to FIND my order. At this point my lunch break is over. I prefer Jamba Juice over Tropical Smoothie but they both get the job done for me. Smoothie was great as always but the service was a little lacking. I walked in and waited at the counter for about two minutes, during which there was a girl making smoothies and another girl walked right past me, didn't acknowledge me and then a minute later came over to the register, greeted me and took my order. I understand places are busy, I work at a restaurant, but you should always at least acknowledge your guest with a quick "Hi/Hello. We'll be with you in a moment." The girl was far from rude, she was super polite and friendly, but I just find it off putting when you walk in somewhere and are just ignored. And it wasn't just me, the customer that came in a while after me had the same thing happen to him. However, now after multiple visits, it is apparent that the staff here are not well trained, and are VERY slow filling orders, which is why my family and I do not frequent this location more. Very disappointing experience. I will never try that place again. The smoothies are great, but the sandwiches are terrible. I got the Ultimate Club Sandwich. I don't know what happened in the kitchen, but there was maybe one ounce of ham, one ounce of turkey, and a miniscule piece of asiago cheese. - No other ingredients. Just terrible. Where is the manager/owner overseeing the performance of such employees? I'm done with Tropical Smoothie Cafe at this location in Frederick until the next one is built and if more don't get built around and all over Frederick it will go to show that this store was the cause of the failure. They are too inconsistent with the quality of the product. I always critic the smoothies the most because that is their niche and it has to be perfect atleast 8 out of 10 times. I say that because of the price, when you get down to the three main ingredients in most of the smoothies it is Ice, Fruits or vegetables and Sugar. I ordered a Peanut Butter Cup. This has only peanut butter, banana and chocolate and the employee is still using the cheat chart on table. I got a lumpy smoothie as a result of too much Ice. Employee starts on another smoothie and the blender for my smoothie stops and 5 people working and no one goes to attend to it. When I pointed it out to someone they had to start the blender again due to inconsistent mixture and still it was difficult to pour into the cup. Minimum wage is set to be at 9.25 by 2017 and it is the consumer that will pay for the increases. When smoothies begin to cost 5.99 or 6.99 and food prices go up also, Yea, I will be getting a refund or remake. read more
