As others have said: The ice cream is good, the service is not. No description of the flavors is provided on the menu. Some flavors have mix-ins included and others don't. If you have a texture issue, you have to ask very specific questions and try really hard not to annoy the employees. Then, before they even show you the concoction they've created loosely based on your order, they're shoving a card reader in your face telling you to select your tip!! Seriously, I didn't even know my total before I was being told to tip. Not asked, but told. The milkshake I got was terrible. The ice cream itself was fine. But the flavors I got were obviously not designed to be mixed into a smooth shake. It would have taken nothing for the young lady to have said, "Just as a heads up, these flavors have tons of sprinkles and cake bits and cookie crumbs and whatnot in it-- probably not typical texture for a shake." I do give them credit for having quick service, even if they miss the mark on customer interactions. read more

I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. The ice cream itself was fine, but the ordering process was much more frustrating than it needed to be. There were only about eight people waiting outside, but there didn't seem to be any real organization. There was no clearly defined line, no sign indicating where the line started, and no obvious way of knowing which window you were supposed to approach. The location has four service windows, yet only two were being used. Employees would occasionally call out that they could help the next person, but they were speaking so quietly that it was difficult to hear them. The drive-through wasn't much better, with roughly 10 cars waiting when I was there. They also provide sidewalk chalk for customers, which is a nice idea, but people were drawing and gathering directly around the ordering windows. Because there isn't already a designated waiting area or line, that just made it even harder to tell where customers were supposed to stand or walk. What should have been a simple stop for ice cream turned into about a 15-minute wait with people basically standing around trying to figure out what was going on. The ice cream wasn't bad, but it also wasn't good enough to make me overlook the experience. With two grocery stores right nearby where I could have picked up ice cream and been on my way, I left feeling like the wait and confusion simply weren't worth it. Hopefully they eventually come up with a better system for managing customers because the current setup definitely took away from the experience. read more

My favorite ice cream shop in Frederick. They also offer puppy sundae for free, which is very nice and I got 2 for togo for my boys. They were even wrapped pretty nicely so I can take it home easily. I always get Mango dragon fruit sorbet which is the best! Also, I got banana pudding and pistachio flavors. I got a large waffle cone with 4 scoops of different flavors, it was sooo big and sooo yummy! The staff was friendly and fast. read more

This is located in the Crestwood shopping center so there is plenty of free parking in the lot around it. As with all Bruster's locations, there is not inside seating. You can order by either walking up to the side window or through the drive-thru. Their ice cream is the creamy, thick type. They have the traditional flavors and other unique ones. When I went I got a kids cone with a scoop of mint chocolate chip. I thought the ice cream was at the right amount of firmness and creaminess. For a kid cone the amount of ice cream provided was generous. My friends got a dark chocolate kids cone and a two scoop cone one with cheesecake. They said the dark chocolate one was good but the cheesecake flavor one was off and didn't really take like cheesecake. I do appreciate that at least the cones come with a plastic sleeve around it so the employees don't have to touch the cone directly. We placed our order through the drive-thru. The one taking our order was not very good. We had to keep on repeating the order. Make sure to ask for them to repeat the order afterwards because despite repeating the order several times, they still got part of it wrong. Price is one the pricier side but one and a while fresh ice cream is worth it, right? read more

I reviewed Bruster's years ago and am coming back to write that nothing has changed...with the exception that the general manager, Alex, is one of the most conscientious, mature and pleasant people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. The ice cream is made onsite, the flavors are fresh and they have a generous rewards program. I can't swear to it but reading some of the negative reviews here makes me think that they're written by some people trying to pull one over on the business--there are always a few of those jokers around. Bruster's is top notch and their staff, even though young, are courteous and polite. read more

One thing, just one thing. A waffle cone with cheesecake ice cream. Waited behind a car in the drive through for 20 minutes. It happens. Finally get up there and they hand you a pad to pay for it and of course add tip. My flipping cone was 7.00 with tip. What's my gripe? Wrong flipping flavor. Something caramel, toffee, don't know. Ice cream is good, However the Service is a bunch of Monkeys. 3 people in line they have 4 walk up windows and 10 people inside walking around. Took 45 min to get service. Only one person working the window and can only do one thing at a time. They should all have there mommies in there to do tell them to do there job. If you show up 15min before closing forget it. No one is paying any attention to the drive they or the walk up window. Then after knocking on the glass they tell you there closed even though it's not 10pm yet. ROMPER ROOM. Their ice cream has a homemade freshness and creaminess that really delights. It tends to be on the softer and sweeter side, making it great for kids. We've been coming to Bruster's for years and years. I'm kind of surprised I haven't left a review yet, but I'm glad I didn't because I want to leave one about our experience tonight. They were running the PJ = Free Cone promotion. We went pretty late in the day, around 9:30. It was busy. I'm assuming it had been a long busy day. But every single employee we encountered was friendly and full of energy. They were getting through the line at super speeds and all with a smile on their faces. I would have left the same rating and a good review had I remembered to review them before tonight's visit. But I really think it says something about the employees when they are still doing an amazing job even after such a long, busy day. I really only like gram central station ( it is amazing), but butter pecan is also good. I feel the portions are kind of small for the price and compare to other places. My husband loves the blast & the peanut butter sauce they use. So when we see a bruster's we stop for my husband. If they have a flavor I like then I may get something as well. Ice cream is always amazing. Service is hit and miss. They have young kids that work here that act as if you are bothering them by ordering.

Someone needs to train the employees to know the difference between sherbet and italian ice. Way too expensive getting the wrong item, even after explaining 3 times i wanted italian ice, not sherbet. I came through the drive through at 9:39 and i ordered a chocolate milkshake for my daughter and they said we stop doing shakes at 930 because we've already cleaned the machine . So because they're so worried about getting out at a decent time they stop doing shakes, and two other menu items that aren't available . DO NOT GO HERE. Came here a couple of times and enjoyed it when getting just a scoop of ice cream. HOWEVER, when I came back and got a milkshake, it tasted like they had used slightly rotten milk. The flavor was off. I did not want to judge their milkshake based on this one time so I came back and got another in a different flavor and the same underlying rotten milk taste was there. Not sure why. Maybe their fridge is broken or not cold enough. After both milkshakes, I had an extremely upset stomach. Very upsetting. Very unprofessional to serve your paying customers rotten milk. Finally, the short list by the actual open window was close to true but no! Three of the flavors were 86'd. Love the ice cream and the great flavors I like that you can get ordinary old flavors like banana, peach, or Black Raspberry. I did NOT care for the service there is no awnings and you have to stand in the beating sun and when I was there the first couple times the line was non existent However the last two times I walked away after standing for 30 minutes in 95 degree weather in beating sun while ONE woman had a huge order and only two guys working and the one was doing Nothing while the other guy done it all I waited a while and said heck with that and left without that has happened twice I will likely not return anytime soon read more
