South Mountain Creamery. | seasonal egg nog is silky rich.
Kris P.

South Mountain Creamery has served the community for over two decades providing farm fresh produce and meats, carefully procured and in partnerships with local sources. I still remember taking road trips to get their ice cream! Keeping up with the needs and evolving, I can't tell you how awesome it is that they have wavered through the times. I especially love coming on the farm for their seasonal products. Be it a pint of their creamiest ice cream for the drive home, or fresh off the vine fruits and baked goods, all year around this family owned farm is worth the trip. Be sure to check out their Moo Membership and information about their efforts on sustainability and environmental impact with state's Department of Agriculture.

4 Stars - Great Products I placed my first order, intending to subscribe regularly, but customer service took some time. I did head back today and got the credit I needed as well as information to make new orders. I would say to the cons that be very careful on ordering one time vs recurring visa website and I would forgo fruits and veggies as they get those someplace else and they aren't great. Pros: Excellent eggs, bacon, and cheese. The chicken breast was great, and I'll be trying the ground beef soon. The milk and cream remain unopened (I'll get to it soon) and liked the yogurt. However, the lettuce was wilted, and the fruit and vegetables were just okay (per my cons at the top). Also on the pros, when I got a call back today on my issues, they were great. It's wonderful to have glass bottles for cream and milk if you are like me and trying to limit plastic. I'll be reordering.

Wow! Amazing ice cream with a great experience. If you have young kids, this is a must! Only $7 to do the feeding experience and the ice cream is so good! The host staff was super nice and answered all our questions. It is all outdoors so dress accordingly.

I will say that their single scoops are huge, especially for $4.25. I would recommend getting just an ice cream because the cow pie (with the donut), while is a good sweet treat, is a bit too ordinary. Stick with the classics here! Getting one of those and walking around the goat and calf farms makes for a really good afternoon experience. The main point of this trip was to try the social media viral cream top, which is basically when whole milk is not homogenized and a creamy, fatty top of milk settles on the top. It's hard to find in regular stores. Overall, it's a bit overhyped and a bit too creamy, but still good to try at least once. Really quick service and a fun afternoon activity.

What's better than ice cream on a sub freezing morning?

Absolutely love stopping here when in northern Maryland or southern Pennsylvania. It's fun to see the animals well cared for especially the cow scratching wheel. Fantastic ice cream and dairy products. As for ambiance, I've stopped here in winter and sat outside eating a double scoop cone.

My family stopped by here after walking in the park. Ice cream taste really nice, and it's affordable too they have generous servings. Staff are very accomodating and they have fast service. The place is nice too. I love my experience here, they have plenty of tables inside.

We've been enjoying dairy deliveries (and sometimes more) from SMC almost since the lockdown began. Supporting local businesses was important to us, and it seemed right to at least try them. So good! My daughter buys their honey-roasted peanut butter and we often just snag a spoonful since it "lives" on the kitchen counter. Their milk and cream are always delicious. We've tried some cheeses - yum. DD loves the Cajun crab dip. Not all of the items they offer for delivery (and in their little store on site) are made by them, but all are locally sourced. I've lost track of everything we've tried from their delivery service, but I believe a turkey last year, and a few boxes of farm-fresh veggies are included. We do get milk and cream every week, and then DD adds whatever strikes her fancy as she reviews the weekly order and specials. We drove out today for their Spring Festival. It was definitely geared more toward younger kids than my grandkids and a friend. They got bored pretty quickly, but that's typical at their ages ;) The biggest hit was watching baby animals (calves, pigs, sheep) and you could interact with them a little - if they cared to do anything but sleep, lol. It was a longish drive for us so we probably won't do it again, but we are thankful for their home delivery. Check out their website!

We loved it! The ice cream was delicious, scoopers were singing/having so much fun, and the play area was perfect for our youngest. We'll totally come back!

What an amazing experience! I took my kids there on a Sunday and it did not disappoint. The farm is very spacious and open allowing patrons to observe the dairy process and they have a section just for the calves that you can walk through and pet. Of course we had to get some ice cream, I recommend the cookie butter. It's the creamiest ice cream you'll ever have.

My pints delivered!

Ask the Community - South Mountain Creamery

Does the ice cream have egg in it?

I would think that it has eggs which gives it that rich creamy flavor.

We buy our milk & chocolate milk, which comes in a glass bottle every week, it may cost a bit more but it's so worth it.

I was charged $25 just for cutting, which I accepted. However, the issue came with the weight. I was initially told the lamb weighed 38 pounds. When I questioned it and asked them to weigh it again, the number changed to 36 pounds. What made the situation worse was that I was not allowed to enter the room where the scale is located, so I couldn't verify the measurement myself. This raised serious concerns. When I got home and weighed the meat myself, it came out to only 32.6 pounds -- a significant difference. And now I do not even the price per pound which is , $8.95. I did not expect this kind of experience. Transparency and honesty should be basic, especially when customers are paying based on weight. This experience has unfortunately affected my trust.

This place is amazing!!! We have been coming here for 20 years and have never had a bad experience…read more The meat has always been top notch and the staff is so helpful and friendly even though they are usually very busy. I ordered a prime rib to smoke for Christmas dinner and set the date to pick it up and discussed how many pounds I needed for the amount of people we are having. I got there when they opened and there was already a line around the corner. No fear, they have so many people there I was in and out in 20 minutes. Told them we added two more people on and he recommended how much and cut it. I asked him to slice off the bone and butcher twine it back together. They had told me there was $5 charge when I preordered on the phone and I told him that was fine. When I told the guy today that I was smoking it and would cut off the twine, season the part where the bone was and twine back together, he told me he would net it after cutting the bone off and didn't charged me. This is choice meat but it is as close to prime as can be and their price was cheaper than other butchers I checked with.

Summer's Farm is a huge place and perfect for kids to go to during the fall/ Halloween time. They…read morealso have the sunflower festival in which you can catch the tractor/ hay ride to cut out some flowers. I don't particularly like this area because it's always so many bees and also slim picking depending on when you go. Beyond that they have several activities for kids to do and you could stay for hours with different photo ops, the petting zoo, the big bounce area, the zip line, tug of war, the goat race and many more. They even have fireworks on select nights. The place is pretty big and we can never finish everything in one day because it's a lot of walking lol. Nevertheless it's well worth the money , customer service is good, and it is a lot to do. I would recommend taking better care of the petting zoo because it really wasn't kept as well as I would've liked it to be. Side note: There was an incident in which an elderly woman fell while I was there. I would like to commend the staff for how much care and support they gave her to make sure she was OK.

Fun day out in beautiful almost fall weather!…read more My friend and I came for their Teacher Appreciation Weekend event. The general admission charge was waived for teachers and one guest. That was quite generous! Parking was easy and plentiful. Included in the freebies was six pick your own blooms from their sunflower field or zinnia patch. The farm is filled with activities for kids to explore such as jumping pillows, mega slides, rope mazes, and flying pig zip lines to names a few. There are other things adults can partake in such as the corn maze (short and long paths), corn hole, and of course the wagon ride to the pumpkin patch (not ready when we were there) and the sunflower fields. We didn't eat, but there's a barnyard grill, pizza, kettle corn and apple cider donuts for sale. We missed the scheduled pig races. It was a fun day in the sun.
