We made a small purchase, two delmonico steaks and some country sausage. Pricing is totally in line with the major regional supermarket chains, but our impression is that quality is much better here at D&D, We grilled the steaks tonight and they were SOOOOOO good. They were actually better than the same cut and size we recently received at a chain steak house in the area just last week. Even though the cuts and amounts were essentially the same, the restaurant sliced it thin (1/4") so it covered more real estate on the dinner plate. Our "rare" steaks actually came out well done (brown through and through and warm in the middle--they were tender and OK so we didn't fuss and "send them back"). The D&D steaks were cut thicker, ~1/2", so we actually were able to burn just the outside and the middle was truly "rare," as in red, cool center. Thus, much better outcome for what supposedly was intended to be the same. We can't wait to try the country sausage we got at D&D. Most definitely, we will be back for more, and will try the baby back ribs and other offerings.

Now imagine that you have never learned to associate 'smoked' with 'dry' because you will unlearn this association within moments of tasting their pork, chicken, or -- if you are particularly lucky -- their brisket. A plate of this and some sides (some of which are still also smoked!) may be enough food to get you through your entire day, thus making the drive effectively as much as 3x more worthwhile than it would be in case you do not think barbecue is worth driving out here for. The bacon wrapping consisted of one piece of bacon which was so flabby it was inedible. The smoked green beans were from a can and had some flabby bacon added. The mac and cheese was dry and had almost no cheese and too much black pepper. My friend says the ribs were good (not excellent) and the chicken was dry and just ok in flavor. He also had the green beans and the corn, which the menu says was "off the cob" but was obviously from a can. I do hope this local business does well and it looks like they have lots of fans. But we are not among them and won't visit here again.

Omg this food is so good. From the rice and peas to the chicken and the oxtail. The oxtail was so soft and seasoned to perfection. I loved that he cut up the chicken into small bit size pieces! I'm not a really big fan of cabbage so it was ok but if you love cabbage then you'll probably love it. He did ask if I wanted a side of plaintains but I said no. I should have gotten it. We did, and he pointed in the direction of Keep It Smokin' B.B.Q. He said their their pit beef was excellent but their pit pork was even better. I love recommendations from someone who knows, and his was spot on. We wandered over and watched the operation for a few minutes. The owner offered us a taste of the beef; it was charcoal-charred, really juicy, tender, and rubbed with a pepper-forward spice. It was incredible - easily one of the top three I've tasted anywhere. Ah, but then he offered tastes of pit pork loin, crunchy exterior yet dripping with juices. I've eaten a boatload of Philly Pork sandwiches but this, this, THIS made them all taste like charcoal. Neither one needed onions or tiger sauce or BBQ sauce or anything other than delicious meat. Their prices and portions were reasonable.
