We…read moregot there just as they opened for the afternoon and had high expectations based on the rave reviews from the others dining in while we were debating what to order. I ordered ribs since one of the diners said they were better than anything she has had (and she is a Texas native) and BOY they did not disappoint!! My husband loves brisket so he opted for the brisket sandwich, plus we got a pulled pork sandwich just to try out another meat. You can get the meat dry or with BBQ sauce. They also give you a bottle of BBQ sauce to add more as you please. For the sides, we had the mac and cheese, candied yams, corn on the cob with butter, cornbread, and smoky beans. All were absolutely amazing. The rib bones pulled right out of the slab. The brisket was moist and so, so, so good. The prices are so reasonable, especially compared to the big chains we have near us in Harrisburg, PA (looking at you, Mission BBQ...). This was less than $15 for a sandwich with generous meat portions AND TWO SIDES! Incredible. The ribs were $28 for a rack plus two sides, which is more than fair. The food was AMAZING, yet the service was even better. We had the privilege of talking with the owner, who let us know today is their last day at the Walnut St address. They do plan to open down the street at the carwash sometime soon. Lots of customers seem to be frequent visitors and the owner even offered to do delivery to elderly customers who walk over to the restaurant. The employees clearly love working here and we can see why!! I am not joking when I say we will drive over an hour just to eat this BBQ again. The owner and employees are amazing people and I hope they thrive in their next adventure. 10/10, HIGHLY recommend.

This is such a wonderful and welcoming establishment! We were greeted as we walked in the door, and we observed the same for all other customers who walked in as we dined. Our server, Katie, was phenomenal and so accommodating as we dined with our small dog (love their dog friendly patio). The food was perfect, and I loved every sauce I tried, my all-time favorite sauce being the Smoky Mountain sauce. Was also very excited to see that Cheerwine soda was offered too! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and sides (we opted for the sliced brisket plate with green beans and mac n cheese sides along with a pulled pork sandwich). From the wonderful service to delicious food, everything was spot on. Thanks, Katie and Mission BBQ!

The downside is they need more or larger set up as they quickly run out. If you're in the area it is worth trying. Now for the food: The mac n cheese is one of the better I've had. The potato salad is a southern mustard version, I believe. The baked beans may have cumin, I believe. At first, it wasn't bad but the cumin sort of tired me out. These sides issues are personal preference issues. If I liked their flavor they'd be good. The ribs were fall of the bone, but that shouldn't be the final judgement. The pulled pork and brisket were tender, however, all three suffered from what I'd say is a lack in flavor. I prefer more flavor to it. The bbq sauce isn't bad. I didn't have enough to really judge it. It isn't a thick sauce. I would prefer my bbq sauce to be in a container for me to apply rather than spread over my meat. Is it the best bbq in PA? No. Is it better than average? Yes, but not a top tier. Are the portions generous? For me, no, but maybe others yes. Is this the best bbq in the area? Currently, I'd say yes. Overall, would I eat here again? Yes, as they are currently the best in the local region. Will I go out of my way to eat here? Only if I have a strong urge for brisket or ribs. I honestly believe this place is between a 3 and 4, so a 3.5. Again, the people here have been very nice and try to be as accommodating as they can.

Parking was easy, with spots right up front and no meters to worry about, which is always a win when getting kids in and out. The restaurant itself had a relaxed, welcoming feel. Inside, there was a mix of seating options including booths, half-booth tables, and standard tables, plus high chairs available for younger kids. One thing I appreciated was that the bathroom was very clean and surprisingly spacious. When you order, they give you buzzers for your food, and the staff was incredibly kind about it. My kids all wanted a buzzer too, and the employees happily gave them one, which honestly made their night. Small interactions like that really stand out to me when visiting places as a mom. One thing to know before you go: they do not have a soda fountain machine. Drinks are bottled or prepackaged options including Coke, Coke Zero, Diet Coke, Sprite, Barq's Root Beer, Gold Peak Tea, and water. Complimentary water is available as well. They also accept both cash and card. What We Ordered I ordered the BBQ Sampler which included: 1/3 rack of ribs 1/2 lb pulled pork 1/2 lb beef brisket 4 wings 2 sides (I doubled up on fries) Rolls included I also grabbed a bottled Coke. The food came out quickly, definitely no more than about 15 minutes from ordering to table, which was impressive for dinner time. Food Thoughts The fries were honestly one of my favorite parts. They were super crisp and fresh. The wings were good, and I tried one of their newer sauces, a chipotle-style sauce. It personally was not my favorite because it had a much stronger Dijon flavor than I expected, but if you enjoy bold mustard-forward BBQ flavors, you may like it. They also had multiple sauce options available including: Sweet Sauce Mild Sauce Hot Sauce The pulled pork was solid, but the beef brisket really stood out to me. It had great flavor and was probably my favorite meat from the sampler. The ribs were also good, especially paired with their regular barbecue sauce.
