After a long day of driving (road tripping across states), we were hungry and a bit tired. Came across Mission BBQ and am so happy that we did. This is such a wonderful and welcoming establishment! We were greeted as we walked in the door, and we observed the same for all other customers who walked in as we dined. Our server, Katie, was phenomenal and so accommodating as we dined with our small dog (love their dog friendly patio). The food was perfect, and I loved every sauce I tried, my all-time favorite sauce being the Smoky Mountain sauce. Was also very excited to see that Cheerwine soda was offered too! We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and sides (we opted for the sliced brisket plate with green beans and mac n cheese sides along with a pulled pork sandwich). What you would want and expect. Meat was tender, the fries were good, and a they had a nice variety of bbq sauces. Service was pleasant and efficient. The restaurant was crowded but we were able to get a two top table on a Sunday afternoon. It is pricey. We ordered ONE two meat meal with two sides and 1 rib to try. We both drank water. Mission BBQ's catering service is amazing! My work (Maryland Paper Company) has had them do the catering last year for the Christmas parties and this year, we had them again. Their brisket is delicious. I love that they give you an array of different sauces to try, so you can find the type you most enjoy (Apparently I like the Kansas City style most, and I never would have tried it otherwise.). My friend and I are from Texas so we really love good barbecue - Mission BBQ did not disappoint. This place was amazing and we will be going back. The people that work there made us feel so welcome and took such good care of us. The man who took our order took his time with us and explained all the great food and even offered to let us sample things. The manager kept coming by, checking on us, making sure everything was great. The theme is honoring our military and the decor did just that. Many people were veterans. So I've run across this mission bbq in a few different areas but never got to try it out . This evening was different since they were in the plaza next to the hotel I'm staying. Actually when out to dinner at another restaurant but was still hungry so I ordered up some bbq. I noticed on the site that they was closing up at 9:00 pm and the left me 30mins to order and go pick it up. Called in a 5 piece St.Louis ribs with a peach cobbler, drink and I added a brisket sandwich. You have a option of wet or dry. I thought it meant sauce or no sauce but it was if you want dry meat or moist meat. Of course I chose the moist brisket. Walked over picked up my order got back to the hotel I unpack the order to find my ribs was not the St. Louis ribs but baby back and cold. Called back to notify the wrong order and the employee apologized for the mistake and I I want to bring it back they will correct the mistake, which would've been fine if I had the luxury of time. Since it is 3 minutes to 9:00 and they close at 9 and I had to be on a conference call at the same time I was not able to go back and asked if the could just run it by the hotel and they would not accommodate. So they offered to credit me for the wrong ribs. I haven't been able to check to see if in fact they actually credited by account. The ribs were cold as I've stated but the meat was falling off the bones tender. Not a fan of the baby back, the brisket sandwich caught me by surprise. I realize what they really meant by dry or moist. Moist is when the put fatty ends in the sandwich so when you bite into the sandwich you'll get mouthful of fat. That's the moist! I was eating a major heart attack sandwich. I alway trim away the fat around the meats I eat to cut the the fat intake and this sandwich had enough fat intake for a whole year. So that was a 1 bite and done for me and on to the peach cobbler. As I was bringing a spoonful towards my mouth I caught a whiff that caught me by surprise. I stopped the motion towards my mouth and I took a whiff of the cobbler and the stink from the cobbler was foul! I smelted like someone used their sweaty stinking feet to make the cobbler. All in all I just had a bad experience here. Honestly they should credit me for the whole tab. read more

Out here in Hagerstown, Maryland. I gotta say if you have the opportunity to be out here. Make Mission BBQ one of your stops!!!! As you walk in you will be proud of the layout very patriotic. It has a welcoming effect as soon as you walk in the restaurant . Staff is very friendly and very helpful with the menu. As a first time visitor. I needed a little bit of help and now I'm very pleased with what I was served!!! The food and sauces are delicious as you can see by my pics, but I gotta tell you man I love the decor its amazing a well deserved salute to our troops. This was my first time ever at a Mission BBQ location and let me tell you it was the best experience i've had in a while. Debating what to eat around the area and decided to go here. Lena at the register was SOOOOO sweet; she helped explain the types of meats, sauces and the menu. She gave us free samples to try since we were in between. Went with the brisket; moist and marbling as she mentioned and boy was that a great recommendation. Logan assisted us in the sitting area. He was so knowledgeable about the history of Mission BBQ. He was checking and stopping by each table to make sure everyone was doing good. Top notch service, truly. The cornbread was delicious not dry at all. My only complaint would be more please! it paired so well with the ribs and memphis belle sauce. The bathrooms were nice and the drink area was clean and stocked. Such a great spot with amazing workers there! Would go back there again even though one is right by my house just for their service! Thank you logan and lena for making it unforgettable! read more

I remember the first time I stopped in Winchester, Virginia, and ate Mission barbecue and was blown away by how delicious the food was so I finally found one in Hagerstown in the mall area and it's even better than the first time. I don't even like coleslaw. In fact, I hate coleslaw, but I love Mission barbecues coleslaw on my sandwiches. I get the pulled pork side of fries and it's the best sandwich I've ever eaten as far as bbq !!! great service! We keep coming back here!! I love the spare ribs, and OMG the prime rib today was so on point! Even the salad and ranch (which I'm really picky about ranch dressing) was delicious! Even my buddy, who hates ranch, loved the ranch. But that prime rib, and those spare ribs..... I can't get enough! Yum! Update: went there again today! I think I have a newfavorite restaurant. Update #2: even through COVID-19, the quality and standards do not fail. Spare ribs and Mac today. It was awesome to finally sit down at a restaurant again (albeit outside, but we missed the storm). Bad service. Ok food. The ribs tasted like they made them six hours prior. The kid at the cash register kept answering my questions really weird. Sorry it was my first time at this dump. How dare I ask questions I had to ask him three times if the drink came with the meal, and then he finally says I'm asking if you want a drink I said does it come with the meal? They offer samples to help you decide on what you would enjoy for the evening. There are also so many sauces to choose from so yum mix and match slather it all or even no sauce at all!!! I've always enjoyed collard greens cuz I'm a southern gal so they are quite delicious here!! The cole slaw yum too especially with the pulled pork and I always go for the tender fatty brisket sigh just writing this review brings back memories of delicious flavors and I want bbq now... oh the holidays hahaha !! Anyhoo we stopped here on our way down to DC and it was great and the staff always kept the place clean and helping all the customers with clearing the tables and assisting anyone with their needs and the kids in the place! Of course, they have a great mission as they are huge supporters of veterans and military. Big for the Wounded Warriors too. The big army truck parked out front is the best advertising for that, and it's apparently a mobile smoker! But aside from that, they have great barbecue. I got a full rack of ribs plus cole slaw and mac & cheese. A little spendy, but it was worth it. The ribs were meats and fall-off-the-bone, needing zero additional sauce for flavor. Cole salw? Nice and tangy, held together well. Mac & cheese? Tart cheese flavor, not much noddles and the baked bread crumbs on top were excellent. They have six bbq sauces to choose from. They do not put bbq sauce on the sandwiches, you add the one and amount that you want. That's good because the bun doesn't get soggy like it does from other bbq restaurants. I like the coleslaw but it could be a little creamier. We've eaten at a few of the Mission BBQs, but this was our first time trying the Hagerstown location. I've gotta say we were all very pleased!! We had the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw and Maggie's mac-n-cheese and the chopped brisket sandwich (which comes already sauced with Memphis Belle) with coleslaw and baked beans. I've got to say both were really delicious and very plentiful!! It was nice to try all of the sauces on the pulled pork before finally deciding on our group favorite...Bay-B-Q. My husband's 2nd favorite was the Tupelo Honey Heat. The mac-n-cheese was excellent and left us wanting more!! Also...the sweet tea is perfection, as is the lemonade!! read more

This week was our first trip to Mission BBQ. It was great!!! The food was excellent and the service was superior also. I got a turkey sandwich and fries and both were really delicious. My husband got the brisket and loved it. We will defiantly be going back. The restaurant was clean and we really like the anthem being played at 12 noon. read more
