The drinks are always amazing, and the food is just as impressive. I highly recommend the buffalo tots as an appetizer--they're a must-try. Everything I've ordered has been packed with flavor, and on the rare occasion something isn't quite right, they're quick to fix it without any hassle. Riks Cafe is truly a hidden gem in Hagerstown. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's well worth a visit!

Two issues: We…read moreordered delivery on the weekend and got several messages that a Door Dasher would deliver it. Tracker included. Suddenly we got a message MUCH later than the estimated delivery time that the order was cancelled. Called the store and was told that they didn't have a delivery driver and the system shouldn't have accepted the order. They refunded the money that was put on the card. Annoying but fine. Kids had an extremely delayed dinner but we survived. Mistakes happen with technology. Now the current issue. I called at 4:11 to ask if they would have a delivery driver for our birthday dinner order for my 6 year old. I was assured that yes, they would have a driver but not until 5:30. That's fine, we can wait until then. I call at 5:04 to see if we can pre order. I'm told that they absolutely do not have a delivery driver nor was one ever scheduled. I was told they had a lunch delivery driver but not a dinner one. Thankfully my husband was able to go get the pizza to not bum out the birthday kid. The miscommunication is beyond frustrating, it is unacceptable. Who did the first person speak to when I was out on hold? Why did the entire story change an hour later?

For appetizers we got the loaded nachos, which are really good and made with a lighter, flakier tortilla chip than most are used to. The menu is a lot slimmer than many restaurants, but there is something there for most everyone. I had a Salmon Strawberry salad, which I highly recommend and which all who tried it recommend. It's big, so be ready for it. As a side I got risotto, which didn't taste bad, but was more like cheesy rice, not risotto. If you've had good risotto you know what I mean. The burgers were very popular, and the mango bourbon pork chop was very tasty. Crab cake sandwich was okay, but like all too many crab cakes I've had in the past, heavy on bread and light on good size crab chunks. They serve their drinks in plastic disposable cups, which is one thing I hate in any restaurant that is above Chipotle or similar level. The cups spill more easily, and frankly it's just not as pleasant a drinking experience. Probably doesn't bother others as much as it does me, but so be it. The server was very friendlym patient and knowledgable.

The beef was very tender and the bread was light and airy, not heavy or dense. I'm not usually into peppers but these peppers ate made in house by the shop owner and were outstanding. We also had the French fries, which were also excellent. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of salt. The shop is not very large and has about a half dozen tables or so for eating in. Each table sits about 4 people. The store is well lit and very clean. There are clean restrooms for your convenience. We enjoyed the food so much, we went back a week later. I had the fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was crispy, moist and tender. The owner is proud of his business and he should be. He told us he's been in business almost forty years It appears that he has a loyal following with the local residents. Many of the customers addressed him by his name. We will definitely be going back. We highly recommend this sandwich shop.

The Jammin' Chicken Biscuit lands on the plate looking like a hearty, indulgent breakfast. The…read moreopened-bun shot reveals a generous stack of fried chicken, melted cheddar, a glossy heap of bacon jam, crispy onion rings, and a dollop of smoky chipotle sauce spread across the top biscuit. The star of the dish. The savory-sweet caramelization of the bacon jam balances the heat and creaminess of the chipotle mayonnaise, cutting through the richness of the melted cheddar. Homefries (Side): Diced potatoes with a light searing. They offer a simple, non-greasy starch, though a few extra minutes on the flat top for extra crispiness wouldn't hurt. A solid option for lovers of sweet-and-savory breakfast sandwiches. The bold combination of bacon jam, melted cheese, and chipotle sauce works well together.

Often when I go to other restaurants, the food can be good, but the service, especially the customer service, and the facilities are unkempt and in poor condition. I cannot say the same about Bangkok on Franklin. This restaurant is clean, fresh, and classy, and I really appreciate the time and effort the owners have put into the aesthetics. I am vegan, and as such I called ahead to inquire about the krapow dish. I was told I could choose the tofu option as the protein and the bowl would be fully vegan. I purchased it, and even though it runs a bit pricier, by about $2 or $3, than other places, the service and quality of the meal warrant the few extra bucks. I will be highly recommending this restaurant to my friends and family.
