The dining room is clean and bright--a nice place to sit and chat over coffee. The service was earnest, but there were a few lapses. I did take a long time to get in our order and for the food to arrive. But it was a weekend, they were busy and we weren't in a hurry, so it was all good. I went for a simple breakfast sandwich (bacon, egg, and cheese) and it hit the spot. It came with some home fries which were also good. I should also add the the atmosphere was nice. My boyfriend has raved about this place and explained the wait is out the door on weekends. My mom was in town and I was off weekdays so we popped in and were immediately sat. You can tell this place draws regulars, and even people from out of the way. A diverse breakfast menu has something for everyone, healthy eater to sweet tooth. The coffee is good, and of course most importantly bottomless. I ordered an omelette and was very pleased with the portion, and ingredients. My single gripe was when I asked for hot sauce and was provided salsa verde. I am ALL for house made salsa but, I do expect hot sauce and not salsa when I made that request. We've visited J's Diner twice now; once for breakfast and once for lunch. For a little place in a strip mall, J's has outdone themselves. Our waitress was brand new and we had her both times we visited. She was sweet and inexperienced, but she will get better. Breakfast is a little pricey, but the portions are big and it's not your usual breakfast offerings. The menu is varied and offers something for everyone whether it's a to-die-for latte, a traditional breakfast, muffins, pancakes, etc. Next time we go for breakfast, I'll be ordering the billionaire bacon, toast and some cheese and making my own little sandwich at the table! We came here for breakfast on June 10 and we were disappointed with the service. We were seated at 1050 am, but fid not receive our food until 1140 am. The service person stated normally there are four cooks; however, they were only 2 cooks that day. My wife ordered the huevos rancheros trio. The food was cold. Plate was not even warm. I had the morning jump start and an English muffin. The morning jump start was good and I enjoyed it. The morning jumpstart comes with toast, layered with almond butter. However, I did not receive my toast until after I paid the bill when another server brought the almond butter toast to our table. To summarize, it took a long time to receive our food and when we did, the huevos rancheros trio dish was cold and I did not receive my almond butter toast until after we had paid the check. My last review merited 4 stars, however, with turnover of staff the quality of service and food has degraded. read more

Food and drinks are amazing, I had the vanilla Chai and Huevos Rancheros trío. Very delicious, friendly staff, and clean tables outside, great music. Everything was ruined by a check, the person took my card and charged my card someone' else's tab which was $60+ vs my $40+ meal, then tried to get me to sign my name under the other person's ticket. This became a huge issue for me, I went inside and they had voided out but still wanted me to pay the other ticket with a discount on it which was a few cents higher than my original ticket. This upsetted me further when I brought to their attention and they gave me a quarter as if few cents difference was my issue when it is the principle of doing the right thing, charge me for what I ate and charge it correctly. This place would have gotten 5 stars but their customer service needs immediate improvement from the cashier standpoint. read more

That's The only way I can describe it Fried potatoes with extra onions - very tasty French toast - although the bread is big, it's very light. So not so filling but still very good. Sweet tea - I did not care for the sweet tea and I sent it back and got a Diet Coke instead. They can be kinda strict parents but are great parents they were strict when I was young but now I am a young adult so they aren't really strict with me anymore. I like when I get to write 5-star reviews because they're easy to write when things are done right. On our way home from Virginia, my crew was hungry, so I asked them to scope out some grub on yelp. J's diner came up as the highest rated restaurant in the area, and luckily was accessible from the next highway exit as we were driving. We exited the highway and drove for 8 minutes. Upon arrival, some folks were cleaning up their plates and leaving. We were seated immediately and we opted to sit outside, since the weather was perfect. Our waiter visited and gave us all iced water and menus. Looking at yelp and the menu, it was tough to choose what to eat because they were serving breakfast and lunch. I saw that many people recommended the hash, so I went ahead and requested the Mexican street hash, my daughter requested an acai bowl, my wife, a turkey club and fries, and my son, chicken tenders and fries. We were the only ones left in the restaurant, which was pretty cool. They were out of most of their fruit juices, but they did have some lemonade left, so I requested that. A short while later, the food was delivered. I tasted my daughter's acai bowl and it was great, with fresh fruit, sorbet, and granola. It wouldn't have been something I requested at this restaurant, however. My son's chicken tenders had a unique breading on them, but he liked them. The french fries were perfect - served piping hot and crunchy. My wife didn't say anything about her club sandwich, but it looked excellent and she ate every bit of it. My Mexican street hash looked amazing. It was piping hot and delicious. The hash was cooked to perfection - it was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The dish was epic. I loved every bit of it. This was the best hash I've had anywhere. And the lemonade? Superbly different. The people making this food and drink have skills that are above most. That is why this restaurant gets five stars - the food was some of the best I've ever had and the service was fast and friendly. read more

My partner devoured his crab hash and other people in my party were satisfied. My stuffed strawberry french toast was tasty, but I was disappointed because it wasn't the same as what was advertised/described. It didn't have dulce de lèche or whipped cream. I think it had the infused espresso vanilla cream, but I couldn't taste it. Visiting family so I looked up breakfast restaurants ose by and this place was the first one to pop up. After suggesting it to family was told thw place is good, so that was the ultimate go ahead. Got to the Diner and it was a 25 min wait (that was no problem). The problems started once we was seated. Sat down about 10:15am and didn't receive our food til about 11am My aunt and I ordered lattes and they came out 10mins apart. That was stroke number one. I ordered the Snow White Latte (coconut and vanilla), it tasted like a regular basic Latte. It had no Coconut flavor. I ordered the Birria Eggs Benny and the it came out cold. The poached egg was cooked perfectly but cold and the meat was lukewarm as if my food was just sitting there waiting to be brung out to the table. I also ordered the Millionaire Bacon and that was the best thing I ate. Don't get me wrong the food looked so good, they even have a video screen showing the foods and we tempted to order more lol. There were people seated after we was and they were served before us and left before us. This was a very disappointing experience. I'm here visiting family and wanted to try a new place and it turned out to be a mistake. My aunt went to talk with someone about the issues and the buswoman kept coming at her saying she delivered our food. Yes you delivered it but you delivered it cold. read more

The food twas overall- disappointing. I think their menu is pretty unique and has so much to offer- from açaí bowls to eggs Benedict to pancake flights! My daughter ordered the chicken pesto panini and it was good. And of course I ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice - it's so refreshing - even at $6 for a goblet- it's worth it. I ordered the pineapple upside down pancakes and the only "down" About them was - a let down! They were raw inside and the pineapple was hard? Like not ripe at all? I took two bites and gave up - then ate some of my daughter's panini bc our server did not come back to check on us for another twenty minutes. We went to J's this morning for breakfast. Usually we get lucky and owner is at the diner when we eat there and the services is EXCELLENT.... When he's not there it's a shit show. Here is the run down of what our experience was: Server took our order and we ordered the following: Millionaires bacon, cheese potato bites, Florentine Benny and make your own omelette. After almost 15 mins I asked if our apps are coming out prior to our meal? She said she will check. Meanwhile I was sitting at a table where I could see the kitchen and saw that my husbands Florentine Benny was up and sitting in the window getting cold. She then brings the apps out while my husbands order still sat in the window. After another 5 mins or so I asked is that my husbands benny sitting there and she said let me check. Another 5 mins goes by while they discuss who knows what and another server finally brings out our food. My husbands breakfast was lukewarm at best. My omelette was hot but potatoes were cold. I never received my dip for my potato bits, I didn't receive my toast, no refills on coffee or water. In the meantime, 2 people next to us were waiting over 20 mins for their check. Another table was waiting on their food too, and a new table with 3 ppl got up and walked out because the service sucked. When the manager came over I explained all this to her and asked her to comp my husband meal ($15.99). She explained that the server was new and still learning which I said, then you should have people helping her. She said I understand and I'll take care of it. In addition to this, the manager, was in the back where the food comes out and never did ONE THING to help the server get food out the tables. The manager brought the check and gave me a 20% discount on the $15.99 entree. I brought the check back to her and said you only took 20% off the $15.99 she said she talked to the owner and this all they could do. I asked to have owner called so I could speak to him directly. He said he was sorry and all he could do was the 20% off the the $15.99 entree. SORRY.....you need to retrain people and I can tell you from the number of times I've been in there that "manager" is not new. She did nothing to ensure your customers are getting good service. They couldn't even tell be to my face that they could only do 20% off the $15.99 entree, they just dropped the check and went along their business. When I waited tables, and food came out, we were told to bring it to the table even if it wasn't our table. Your training of people needs a lot of work. Your compensation to customers need a lot of work. Either that or your need to be there to ensure service is being met. With customers there is no Jay's diner. If you don't fix what's wrong you'll keep loosing customers. read more

Best breakfast place I've had in the area! Located in cute outdoor plaza sits this trendy diner on the corner. Tons of parking, indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was kind and helpful. The food came out fast and tasting very fresh. The inside is a bit tight but is great for going solo or with a group of friends. Did I mention the prices......! Amazing! I've spend way more money at places with smaller portions and lower quality. The menu has a lot of amazing options. I wish we could have gotten more but I left my legging at home and wore my skinny jeans. Lolol. I highly recommend checking this place out. We will be visiting again. read more
