Food, service, location! I work in Hagerstown on contract and decided to stay one recent snowy weekend to be safe. I wanted some dinner for my hotel sleepover. I looked up a few spots on Yelp and decided upon Hong Kong Express. The lunch special prices is honestly what sealed the deal for me! I saw a broccoli special with your choice of meat (I chose shrimp, more on this later!). It comes with white rice or plain fried rice. The have other options such as beef or shrimp fried rice or Lo Mein noodles for about a dollar or two more. For something a bit different, I chose the noodles. The meal comes with your choice of soup or egg roll (I chose the egg roll for my meals). I also bought the egg foo young lunch special with pork fried rice. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I wasn't expecting to be as delighted as I was with my food! The egg foo young was very tasty & well seasoned. The gravy was verrry delicious and bought the whole meal together! The egg patty was flavorful and the pork fried rice was very good. The egg rolls were lightly fried with a delicate, crispy, crunch. Nothing extraordinary about them, but they still were pretty good! Now the super star of it ALL...the broccoli Lo Mein and shrimp! Now, notice I didn't say shrimp Lo Mein. I believe this is mainly a broccoli dish with your choice of meat and whatever kind of rice or noodles you prefer. The broccoli was perfectly chopped in bite sized pieces, which is an underrated pro. Some places put big stalks of broccoli in the dish, making it hard to enjoy, especially if the broccoli isn't cooked long enough. Hong Kong does it right! I chose plain noodles to not take away from the shrimp and broccoli. It was a great pairing. The SHRIMP!!! Omg. The shrimp were BIG, plump and delicious!!! They were fresh and had no fishy flavor. I enjoyed this dish soooo much, I'm willing to go back for it alone! It was that good. I didn't include a picture of the egg foo young, but if you've had it before, it looks like that, lol! But I had to include to broccoli dish with the shrimp because the presentation was pretty by itself. The restaurant is honestly unassuming and I would've passed it by if the visit wasn't intentional. It's not fancy looking from the outside, but the inside is nice and clean. The owners/workers are very polite. Prices weren't bad AT ALL! For two lunch specials and a can of soda, the price came up to $17 and change. As I waited for my food I saw patrons come in and out of the restaurant, which lead me to believe that I made the right decision. I'll be back, for sure! 5 stars. read more

This has been our go-to Chinese takeout place since we moved to Hagerstown. Everything I've ordered from here is delicious, from the egg-foo young, the garlic veggies with white rice, orange chicken, and even vegetarian beef and broccoli. Speaking of vegetarian, they also offer a vegetarian menu full of options for people who don't eat meat. They have vegetarian beef, chicken, and some other options which I was pleasantly surprised by. The staff is pretty nice and they rarely have gotten my order wrong. They had their driver drive back out to us to deliver white rice after they accidentally gave me the fried version which I greatly appreciated. Pros. Food warm, tasty, strong resemblance to Chinese food. Wonton soup loaded with wontons. Pepper steak has good quantity of meat and well cooked peppers and onions. Sauce good too. Cons. Hard to order over counter. Owners kids like fancy cars, especially if drive by girls. They shout happily about what they saw. Wontons sturdy little things. Knife required. Shrimp rolls actually either have really shrimpy shrimp pieces or they ran away. 2 rolls no evidence of shrimp in either but lots of green leafy stuff and dough. Beats Florida Chinese food so give it a try if passing through. If staying keep looking and park in upper lot. Spiral staircase not a winner to walk up when wet. read more

I've been here many times and they have outstanding food. The Mei fun is the best anywhere I've been. Very wide selection of food and you're going to be be awhile trying to figure out what to buy. This place is not designed for eating in . Very small section for that so take it home. Prices are on par with other places. You can easily miss the place if you're not looking for it so pay attention. The staff behind the counter do have limited English ability but they always have a person at the register and answering the phones who speaks perfect English. The manager ( or the lady who seems to be in charge) can be a bit rough so if that's important to you... be warned she's to be avoided. read more

We live about 6 miles outside Boonsboro & 6 miles from Dual Hwy. Not many places deliver to us. This place will! Despite marketing as a Chinese place, the sushi is outstanding. Try some of the special rolls. The Kani roll was amazing! Also, had the usual; spicy tuna, yellowtail, Philadelphia & California rolls. All very fresh, tasty & served with a side of spicy mayo. I'm usually one for sesame chicken, and I have a hard time finding a place that doesn't make it painful to eat everything in the cartons. Used to be our favorite place until they messed up our order. Wouldn't refund us or bring us the correct order. Told us they would give us a free order next time we ordered. Next time we called they said we needed to order at least $15 to get the free one. We weren't going to need that much food so we passed. Tried to call in again to get our free order and she said because it wasn't 2 days after our original order that they couldn't give it to us. Horrible customer service. Rude staff.
