They were patient with us, which was great we were very indecisive in choosing what we wanted and also talked a lot because it was a date. After ordering, it took about the right amount of time I would have expected to make 6 rolls. It came out in a nice big dish with designs made out of sauce which was pretty (as seen in my picture). The food itself was good. It had a good amount of meat to rice ratio. The price was fair too in my opinion. In Looking at the other reviews I think I might've just caught them on a bad night. I had shrimp and veggie tempura and chicken teriyaki dinner to go. I was expecting white rice with the chicken teriyaki, I got fried rice. Did not eat it so I cannot tell you if it was good or not. This is the best sushi in Hagerstown! Very good and great prices!! The inside is very clean. Very friendly staff. They make the rolls right behind the counter so you can see the quality of the ingredients. We came here for lunch and the prices are excellent!! You can get 2 rolls for $7.50 or 3 rolls for $10.50. I was very disappointed in my recent (attempted) experience. Being cognizant of business hours as we googled them prior to arriving, we arrived at 750 pm understanding the business closed at 830. After a few minutes we were approached and told because they closed at 830 they were not allowing dine in. Again... I can appreciate this inside of a certain window or time but 40 minutes??? Location: A little difficult to find if you don't know what you're looking for, but Wasabi is located in a little strip mall area near a Loew's and a Subway. There's plenty of easy parking nearby. The restaurant itself is unassuming, but clean and has plenty of seating inside. Service/Staff: We were directed to a table quickly and our waitress was very attentive -- quickly refilling water, taking our order and offering recommendations. Food: This is where Wasabi exceeds! My Mom (who I went with) and I both got the Lunch Sushi Special which was 3 rolls and miso soup for $10. They also had a lot of other lunch specials -- including sushi, bento boxes and "hibachi" options. I haven't seen another sushi restaurant with as many veggie options as Wasabi -- and unique options at that. I ordered the avocado & peanut roll (why don't more restaurants offer this?? Amazing!), pickled veggie roll and the tempura sweet potato roll (on recommendation of our waitress) -- they were all excellent, as was the miso soup. Overall: Wasabi is one of the best Japanese/sushi restaurants that I've tried in the Tri-State area, and I'd highly recommend it! I definitely will be back next time I'm in the area. read more

Stopped here while running errands with the family. We all enjoy Japanese food, so Wasabi was a natural choice since we were on the north end of town. Despite the "fast food Chinese" feel of the interior, we were greeted pleasantly by our server and shown to a table that was quickly set with placemats, chopsticks, and menus. The service was very friendly, efficient, and accomodating. I never had to wait for a refill on my beverage, which was fantastic. Our server didn't write down our order, but everything came out correct. Not a single hitch. The gyoza is fabulous. Like little pillows of fried meat heaven. I selflessly let my kids have most of them, but briefly considered challenging my youngest to a match of rock-scissors-paper for the last one. We ordered a couple of chicken meals, all of which were cooked perfectly and a nice portion size for the price point. I thought both the teriyaki sauce and hibachi sauce were a little too sweet, but that's just my personal taste. The fried rice was the best rice ever! Perfectly seasoned, lots of egg and onion chunks, and absolutely yum. The best part was probably the sushi, though. Everything was fresh. The fish portions were generous. The rice was delicately seasoned. I would not hesitate to order sushi from this restaurant again. As a side note, the restrooms were clean and well stocked with soap and paper towels. I've eaten here often. While the food is ok, the woman that runs the restaurant is far from professional and treats customers rudely if she does not approve of the tip that they leave. I witnessed her hold up a customer that apparently did not leave the 25% that she wanted to have and then told them that she would add it in on their bill the next time. Once upon a time, before these new owners took over, Wasabi was the place to go. It was a great place to stop for a quick bite that was fresh, fast and delicious. Sadly however, the new owners that took over are either rookies in the kitchen, or just hell bent on destroying the Wasabi name. Let me explain why I say these things. Two days ago I ordered a chicken fried rice. Something that I used to love from Wasabi because the chicken was always perfectly seasoned, it tasted fresh and vibrant, the rice was lovely and flaky and delicious. To me, it was the best fried rice anywhere in Washington county. However, when I ordered it two days ago from the new owners, it was borderline inedible. Instead of fresh and flavorful, I got soggy undercooked and tasteless. Even worse, the chicken tasted like something that was defrosted 10 minutes ago and thrown in a pan with no seasoning, and the rice was soft to almost mushy, close to sticky rice consistency. I could not believe this came out of Wasabi. So, I figured it was probably just an off day. Everybody has one of those. So I decided to give them another try today. Sadly that was not the case. I ordered both types of chicken noodles, one udon and one soba, and both were soggy and disgusting. I have attached a picture of the soba noodles. I also ordered some sushi with the meal and thankfully they haven't turned that into a disaster...yet. The sushi is the only reason why they have two stars in this review because it's still as good as I remembered. As I write this review, I feel sick to my stomach just looking at that oily soggy mess they call noodles. I guess I'll be taking my business to the place across the street from now on. The owner over there has an attitude problem but at least their food is consistently good. I sadly cannot say the same about Wasabi anymore. What a shame. read more

My takeout order was ready quickly and they handed it to me as soon as I walked in, which is appreciated anytime, but especially during COVID. When I got it home, it was delicious! It was fresh and expertly prepared. It came with plentiful condiments (wasabi, soy sauce and ginger.) The salmon lovers with its fresh fish and surprising amount of flavor and texture on the rolls-- love the tiny sprinkles of tempura--was my favorite. They held together well. The rainbow naruto, while tasty, was a little unwieldy for me. The gyoza and its dipping sauce were flavorful, but it could have been a little crisper... that could be the nature of takeout, though, and I was still able to enjoy it.
