Being from New York where there is amazing Chinese food I was a little nervous to try this place. The first time we went we just ordered an egg roll and a shrimp roll to test it out. SOOOOOOO good!!!! The next night we decided to actually get dinner. We had sesame chicken and General Tso's shrimp. OUTSTANDING!! I think the food at this place may be better than what I'm used to in New York. And the prices were so good. I was shocked, I thought maybe they forgot to charge me for something! The staff is so nice too! We were there during a thunderstorm and they asked us if we wanted to wait in the store for a little while until the storm passed. This place never disappoints! They have great fresh vegetables and portion sizes. They tend to get very busy (of course they do, it's a small town with mainly boring pizza joints), so wait times can be longer than 10 minutes, but it's so easy to order ahead online. This is my absolute go to place when I don't feel like cooking. The service is FANTASTIC, albeit slow. She may tell you it will be 10-15 minutes until your order is ready on the phone, but I always wait 30 because I know that's how long it will actually take. Regardless of this, the lady at the counter is always extremely nice and recognizes regulars. The food is always very fresh and hot when you get it and the portions are large, especially for the price. Everything I've had (honey chicken, sesame chicken, orange chicken, veggie lo mein, general tsos) has been so so good. Their service is excellent and their food is great. Joey is pleasant to talk with and will happily accommodate any request that you have. I had the general tso's chicken and my wife had their vegetable lo mein. This place is the absolute worst. You can call in an order and then when you show up to pick it up the order hasn't even been started and then they have to confirm what you even ordered. This has happened to me 3 times and I am new to the Smithsburg area. I gave them a benefit of a doubt that this was just craziness due to the pandemic. After the third time never again. Went in to grab a quick dinner to go; was told 10-15 minutes for our order... took 40 minutes for one entree, fried rice, and an order of crab rangoon and shrimp toast. The lid wasn't on right, and when we got home, the fried rice and chicken was everywhere. Never again. Go anywhere else; the prices here are 2-3 dollars more for lesser quality, and it takes FOREVER. I could've driven to Hagerstown and back in the time it took to get our food, and it wasn't even busy. You live, you learn. read more

This establishment is way too busy for its own good. Which is ok. What is not ok is waiting for over an hour for food. You go inside and there is essentially no help until someone comes from the kitchen and asks you what you ordered. Then goes back and 20 mins later may come out with your food. This case tonight it was too busy. Could not go inside and no one helpful. We left as very disorganized and disappointed. I will not go there again until they get their act together. Disappointed, second time I've ordered Hot and Sour soup only to get home and have it be Sweet and Sour soup. Wait times recently are around one hour from time of ordering even though your told it will be ready in15-20 min. read more

Unfortunately they don't deliver, but it was definitely worth the drive! Tonight was our first time trying out China 88, and they had very kind staff! All of the food we got was delicious. Taking a break from this place. This was our go to Chinese spot locally and we really do think that the food is great, however our most recent trip here was a bit disappointing, especially because the few trips leading up to this one were also not up to par. Although the food has always outweighed the long waits, our recent trip totaled just over a hour wait after calling ahead (they usually tell you it will be about a 15-20 min, but we always wait 30). In addition to the wait, the staff had explained that they ran out of part of our meal requested (which was fine, it happens) except they continued to charge us for the full price. We continued to explain that this didn't make sense, but after several attempts they wouldn't charge us any less than the original order price. Not to mention - there was about a 6-inch long black hair in our food. This is a great restaurant, and we have had plenty of good meals here, but unfortunately we are taking a break. read more

Food has always been great and close to our house. But horrible service/wait time. We used to love this place getting takeout now and then. But the last two times we have ordered takeout, we were told 15-20 minutes and both times were well over an hour. And this last time, over an hour PLUS they knowingly did not give us enough egg rolls. They were one short and she told us they would just owe us next time. That's terrible service, and we paid the full amount. How would she know to next time give us an extra one?? There will absolutely not be a next time. Service lost. For what they have to work with, it's the only decent place in town to eat at. I was surprised to see mooshoo on the menu. Great seasoning. Good dumplings. Fair prices. If the delivered they could make a lot more cash flow and drive Vincent's pizza and Dixie's dinner out for good. My only complaint is that the shrimp isn't fresh but frozen. I refuse to order anything with shrimp here. Their sauces are great. Rice is always cooked properly. Their broccoli is inconsistent in cook times. Pork ribs are over cooked, not soft about 7 out of 10 times. Sometimes it needs 35 more seconds to cook, other times it needs 40 less seconds. I like to pop in regularly for some of my favorite menu items. Friendly staff. Best street food joint in town. Wish it offered less American Chinese food and more authentic Chinese food. Restaurant need new furniture and decor. If they can fix the inconsistent cook times of items I would give it 4 stars instead. read more
