China King is but a shell of its former self from 20 years ago. It continues to live off its reputation from all those years ago and the fact it's the best Chinese food in Waynesboro. However, that isn't say much. We stopped in the other evening for the dinner buffet. The restaurant was busy but the staff were working hard and keeping up with the crowd which is always impressive. What was not impressive was the quality of food. The egg rolls were tough and even when fresh ones were brought out they tasted as if they had already sat in the back for an hour, the chicken nuggets were such low quality my 3 and 6 year olds wouldn't eat them, the sweet and sour chicken wasn't cooked entirely through, the fried shrimp were all breading, and the fried rice was cold. I can easily overlook one item being below my expectations; however, there were so many poor quality items that I can't look past it. read more

We drove 45 minutes to check out this Chinese buffet. Upon entering the restaurant is set up like every other Chinese restaurant. The selection was good and again pretty much the same stuff you typically see. We arrived as they were swapping lunch for dinner. Stuff was kind of dried out but after they refreshed everything it was pretty good. The honey chicken was delicious. They have a small dessert section with self scoop ice cream. I really wish restaurants would stop with the self dip ice cream because that seems more germy to me. I like the machine or the ice cream cups. I've seen both at different restaurants. I can't give them five stars. Service was very poor. They came once to take our order and bring our drinks. They never cleared the plates until we were getting ready to leave. We had piles of plates sitting around. I had to ask for a refill of my drink. There seemed at times to only be one waitress. Another girl was at the register. Once the same waitress was doing the register and waitress. The person who finally cleared our plates was a different person I didn't see the entire time until then. This is a very casual place. My husband and I occasionally stop here on our way to or from Gettysburg. I don't know why I haven't reviewed the restaurant before now, cause we have been going for years. About my rating. I only give 3 stars because it is a middle of the road restaurant. There is nothing spectacular about this place. They serve typical Americanized Chinese food on a buffet with sometimes good service. It's a hit or miss on that, but mostly there is just the same lady who sits at the back round table who does all the drink orders and clears your dishes. She's never friendly. As for the food... it has been the exact same dishes, laid out the same way for years. ( at least 12) The same recipes. You have your typical white rice, fried rice, lo-main, mushrooms in brown sauce, chicken and broccoli, pepper steak, coconut shrimp, garlic green beans, general tso's honey chicken, sweet and sour chicken and all the typical spring rolls, egg rolls, dumplings, fried imitation scallops, chicken wings, and soups. They do usually have a tray of "sushi" and steamed shrimp out..but no one ever eats them. The salad station is very lacking. The worst is the self serve ice cream station. Kids make a huge mess of it and I believe is just a germ and bacteria breeding ground. No way will we touch it! This last past trip they installed a bug zapper near the deserts!!! Seriously!!! The quality is going downhill fast it seems. They raised the prices and DO NOT upkeep or upgrade the place. The bathrooms are in horrible shape. I am thinking this was our last tip there. read more

The typical Chinese buffet. Lots of different selections of food to choose from. Most of the food was cooked well, however a few were over cooked and dry. Overall one gets good food for a fair price. Love the buffet!!! Food is hot and the staff make sure it is replenished often. The variety of food offerings makes it easy for the pickiest of eaters to enjoy. The service was superb, wish I could say the same thing about the food. The chicken that was part of the sweet-and-sour chicken was rubbery and cold. The beef and broccoli would've been good if there had been more beef. It really should've just been served as a broccoli dish. Unfortunately most of the food on the Buffet was cold or just barely warm. I would not recommend this restaurant and will not be going there again with our family. read more

I bought carry-out twice and think it's average, I'm new in town and plan on trying some other Chinese restaurants. It's too bad they don't deliver, and I'm aware most places of this venue don't, but during a pandemic you would think more places would if they want the business. The employees are very friendly and the food is inexpensive, and not bad, however I guess I had higher expectations from some of the reviews I read. read more

I tried to order delivery and they required a 4.50 credit card charge for delivery on a credit card. I did not want to pay by card. I had cash in hand and they would not deliver due to the 4.50 funds not available on my card. I guess cash is not good enough for them. I will never order from them again. read more

I went there to get dinner for the family tonight. The main dishes weren't to bad, I ordered the general tso's chicken. Some of it was to hard to eat. Ordered wontons which were COMPLETELY horrible. Went recently for lunch buffet. Best Chinese buffet in C-burg by Kmart no longer open. This one is worth the drive. Good selection. Great lunch price. Service quick. Food was all very good. Kept filling buffet as items emptied. Hershey's ice cream a nice finish. Will return again. read more

Small town China place that's been here along time. Definitely recommend for people on a budget.

This is my favorite restaurant ever. Its super inexpensive and the food is always amazing. I go here at least once a month, and its the only restaurant I've returned to probably about 50 some times. The hershey's ice cream is always good, and cold. They have extra utensils if needed and always keep their plates stacked up. There is plenty of seating so you could easily have a party there, and they'll kindly arrange the tables for you. The bathrooms are always neat and tidy. The waitresses always come around and clear off plates and refill your drinks for you. At the check out, they have some cheap little goods such as earrings and knick knacks. Basically, I just love this place. read more
