I highly recommend Bangkok on Franklin to anyone in the area or traveling through who wants quality Thai dishes. Often when I go to other restaurants, the food can be good, but the service, especially the customer service, and the facilities are unkempt and in poor condition. I cannot say the same about Bangkok on Franklin. This restaurant is clean, fresh, and classy, and I really appreciate the time and effort the owners have put into the aesthetics. I am vegan, and as such I called ahead to inquire about the krapow dish. I was told I could choose the tofu option as the protein and the bowl would be fully vegan. I purchased it, and even though it runs a bit pricier, by about $2 or $3, than other places, the service and quality of the meal warrant the few extra bucks. I will be highly recommending this restaurant to my friends and family. read more

Generous slices of TENDER beef, sauce is well spiced. Very tasty. I chose to try something I never had before : Lanna noodle soup - traditional northern Thai- well spiced and tender meat and generous portion. I will definitely go back and try other dishes. Wow! We stopped here in our way through town and it was delicious! First we had the curry puffs. Amazing! The dough was super flaky and beautifully golden brown. Then we shared the Param-Long-Song (#42) with chicken. It was so good I wish I could have licked the plate clean! Decided to stop for Thai food on our way north from Winchester to Gettysburg. Tried Bangkok on Franklin in Hagerstown, Maryland. Our server, Tyler, was quick to bring us a carafe of ice water while we looked over the menu. We opted for the Shrimp in the Basket appetizer. The wrappers on the shrimp and barely-there coating on the vegetables made them all so crispy but still allowed you to taste what was inside. The sweet chili sauce to dip them in was tangy. My husband chose the Drunken Noodles with chicken. The noodles were cooked perfectly, and the broth had depth of flavor with a chili flake kick. I couldn't resist the Panang Curry with chicken. The broccoli was tender-crisp. The curry...definitely chef's kiss! Just the right combination of coconut milk, peanut and crushed chilis. It was so good that I was tempted to drink the remnants from the bowl. The tables were spacious. The one wall had beautiful wallpaper with an array of tropical flowers in large print. Soft pop music with an Asian flair played during our visit. Will absolutely return to try more from their menu. read more

Underwhelming and lack flavor on the pad thai and pad see ew, they were both also pretty dry, it's unfortunate because I really was hoping it's as delicious as most of the reviewers have claimed. If you are looking for food that is fresh and bursting with authentic flavors, choosing to eat here should definitely be on your bucket list. For an appetizer, I highly recommend ordering the Crispy Yaya (a combo of crab, shrimp, chicken and water chestnut in wonton wrapping, deep-fried, then served with a sweet, salty sauce.) The Bangkok Spring Rolls are also a great choice, crunchy goodness with the perfect sweet chili sauce for dipping. If you are looking to begin your meal with soup- the Tom Kah Soup is definitely on point. Now, on to the entrees... If you are looking for a myriad of flavors that pop with each bite, DO order the Spicy Lemongrass! For the added protein, I chose shrimp and it paired fantastically with the yellow curry and citrusy notes from the lemongrass. It is very easy to just pass this place by, as it is kind nondescript and on a side street however it is the best Thai food in all of western MD! Larb-Gai, Papaya salad, drunken noodles, Crispy basil duck and the salty spicy shrimp are main go to dishes for us. Today I ordered 2 appetizers. Angel Wings and Gyoza. Both were heavenly and came with the most delicious sauce I have ever had at a restaurant. The entrees that we ordered were as equally delicious. We had duck, salmon, and shrimp. We couldn't have been more pleased with everything having to do with this amazing meal! I had the pleasure of having lunch at Bangkok on Franklin today and it was AMAZING!! I ordered spring rolls as an appetizer and our server also brought an order of gyoza for us to try. Both appetizers were fantastic. The spring rolls were served with a sweet chili sauce and the gyoza was served with a soy-sesame sauce. For my entree I ordered Spicy Salty Shrimp. The flavor was out of this world!! The shrimp were served on top of fried spicy green beans which were as equally as tasty. Thai cuisine is definitely one of my favorites... and I am SO HAPPY that I found this gem of a restaurant because it truly is the best that I have tried in the Hagerstown area. My husband and I just happened upon this amazing restaurant by accident and we were so glad we did! The service was quick and friendly. The seating area was spacious with either booth or table seating. And the food... the food was delicious!! We got the Chef's Special Crispy Basil Duck and the Drunken Noodles. If you can't handle too much spice, ask for mild, because they don't mess around with spice levels. The duck was the best I've ever had. I'm not exaggerating. I love Thai food and have been to many Thai restaurants in different areas. You won't find better than at Bangkok on Franklin. The Drunken Noodles were also spectacular. I think they make their own noodles from scratch. The vegetables in the dish were fresh and cooked perfectly so they weren't soggy. We finished our meal by splitting a piece of the Mango Mousse Cake.
