Saw Foodbyfire was parked at BlackDraft Farm, two awesome local businesses! They were serving breakfast today We got two of the chorizo burritos! If you know me, I'm serious about my chorizo! I loved how this burrito tasted! It also had beans, eggs, and potatoes! Def one of the my favorite breakfast burritos I've ever had! The salsa was also nice and flavorful! The chorizo had a spicy enough kick and the flavor really punched through . We had to finish it off with some hot chocolate bread pudding donuts these were so unique and hit the perfect spot! I am not sure how often they do breakfast, but you do NOT want to miss it! Their menu is below and they had some other super unique options.

I caught up with Food by Fire at Amani Brewing https://www.yelp.com/biz/amani-brewing-martinsburg?hrid=X192aFDiXuyASlEhTWtA-g which was hosting and sponsoring a local "adult kickball tournament" so the place was PACKED. And with FbF here, they were super busy. And yet... you couldn't tell. Sure there were a few people waiting for their food but it was moving quickly and no one seemed stressed at all. I wasn't ready for a full meal so I had a "snack" that turned out to be a pretty big portion of very freshly fried pork rinds (they were still crackling in the dish) with pimento cheese for dipping. Delicious, crunchy, salty and nearly all of the pork rinds were airy and light enough to not crack a tooth. Yum! [Review 17923 overall - 69 in West Virginia - 1444 of 2022.]

A normal person looks at a hamburger and asks, "Would you like cheese on that?" The people at MELT apparently look at one and ask, "How can we make this so extraordinary that customers begin questioning whether everything they previously called a burger was actually just meat occupying bread?" I ordered the Paris Burger: Premium beef char-grilled with roasted garlic, then topped with melted French Brie, balsamic-glazed onions, baby spinach, and a smear of Dijon mustard on a house-made bun. This ingredient list sounds less like a hamburger and more like several upscale appetizers became trapped in an elevator and decided to form a government. I do not know what kind of inspired nut job first assembled this combination, but everything contributes to everything else. The Brie, roasted garlic, sweet richness of the balsamic-glazed onions, spinach, and Dijon do not compete for attention; they cooperate with suspicious precision. The flavor is exquisite. This should not be placed in the same category as ordinary burgers unless the category is titled "Round Foods That Technically Contain Beef." And then there is the bun. Most hamburger buns eventually choose one of two career paths: Damp sponge or roofing material. This one rejected both. It was cooked to that nearly mythical point between soft and soggy, firm and crunchy. It supported the burger without collapsing, disintegrating, or scraping the roof of my mouth like an edible Brillo pad. Perfection. For a side, I ordered the sweet potato fries. They were already very good, which apparently was considered insufficient by the resident mad scientists. Someone had the completely unreasonable idea of serving them with marshmallow fluff. Marshmallow fluff. With sweet potato fries. This sounds like a suggestion made at 2:00 a.m. by someone who should have been politely escorted away from the kitchen. Instead, that person may be a genius. The combination is incredible. The salty sweet potato fries dipped in marshmallow fluff produced one of those moments when your brain objects on principle while your hand quietly reaches for another fry. This proves that not every insane idea is crazy; some merely require dipping sauce. I also had the Thin Mint shake, which was excellent except for the only legitimate complaint I could manufacture during the entire meal: It came with an ordinary straw. Every attempt to drink it became a small plumbing emergency when a piece of Thin Mint lodged in the opening. Sip, blockage, investigate, clear obstruction, repeat. I was not drinking a milkshake so much as performing routine maintenance on a delicious cookie pipeline. A proper milkshake straw would eliminate the one defect in an otherwise outstanding operation. This was not merely a good meal from a burger joint. It was a culinary experience disguised as casual food. The Paris Burger was phenomenal, the fries and marshmallow fluff were an act of benevolent madness, and even my complaint involves the shake containing too many actual pieces of Thin Mint to pass through standard beverage infrastructure. MELT is almost worth traveling to Virginia for by itself. If the people running this place are insane, nobody intervene. Whatever treatment would make them normal might ruin the menu.

I had the smokehouse burger. I ordered it medium rare and it was served exactly how I ordered it. It was pink, moist, juicy and not over cooked. The burger was not a frozen or preformed patty. I could see the patty was hand formed. We were sat immediately at a table not far from the kitchen. Each of the dozen or so tables comfortably sits four people each. Our server was friendly, cheerful and attentive. There is a bar in the main dining area serving liquor and beer. In the back of the bar is a pool table and an outdoor patio also with a bar and several tables, offering a great way to eat and relax outside. There are two bathrooms, one inside the restaurant and the other is outside by the patio. The one by the patio is a little cleaner and better maintained. Burger prices are a little on the high side, averaging between $17.00. However, you are getting a superior burger. Street parking can be a bit of a challenge due to the restaurant being located in downtown Gettysburg. Parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays until 1 PM. This is a nice local pub to meet up with friends and family for a casual eating experience I recommend giving this joint a try. The qualitu of the burgers alone make it worth while.

I should've left and found another option altogether. We both ordered burgers (of course), his a bacon cheeseburger with fries and coleslaw, mine a patty melt on rye bread with Swiss cheese, fries and coleslaw. Both medium rare. Both came out medium well, no coleslaw, one invisible slice of cheese on each burger and white bread instead of rye on my patty melt. The grilled onions actually looked more like onion jam and the trays with black/white checkered paper this is served on looks like it's never seen a sponge or water. No, I can't recommend this place.

I had a classic burger, and husband had something with Jalapeños. Daughter had a kids meal with sweet potato fries. I was mad I was too full to finish! I hope I was able to cover all the good things, but definitely a place I would recommend and come back to if I lived here.

The servers sold us on the mac and cheese when she said the sauce is homemade. For us, the burger and the onion rings were the stars!!! The batter for the onion ring is well seasoned yet fluffy and crispy. The first bite of that burger, reminded me of in and out! We also learned that the ingredients here are locally sourced which is why they are so good. The place is cute, homey, and spacious. They have a few different rooms. They also have a jukebox and I played some Dolly Patron and Miley Cyrus. It was a hit! If you're passing the town of Strasburg heading back to DC, this place is worth a stop!
