The Hocus Pocus seasonal flavor is amazing. We love visiting the Frederick Bruster's!

I don't appreciate being lied to! I specifically ordered a chocolate milkshake made with chocolate ice cream. When I received the milkshake I confirmed my request & was assured that all chocolate milkshakes are made with chocolate ice cream. The guy lied! The milkshake tasted like vanilla which I strongly dislike & is the reason for going there to pay the higher price instead of just going to McDonald's. I got home and dumped the shake & sure enough the bottom of the cup was solid vanilla. Disappointed. I called Brusters to let them know I was upset with the experience & all I got was a "we'll make sure it doesn't happen again." I would have thought I'd have been offered a replacement or something but that was not offered. So now I'm out $6 and I don't have a drinkable milkshake. Extremely good ice cream. My favorite is the black cherry, but I haven't tasted a bad flavor yet.

Ice cream is good, but not good enough to justify the price. Ordered a large waffle cone, and instead got a giant mess. The cone was hemorrhaging ice cream as soon as I first got it. If you get anything here avoid the mess, and get it in a cup. read more

Still poor service. LONG wait, one person working a window and one working the drive through area and it looked like 1 person in back making ice cream or something & 1 that was hiding in the back office/storage area. On top of that they didn't have 4 of the ice cream flavors listed ready to be served - which was super disappointing for my kids to be told each time their selection wasn't available. We ended up leaving empty handed & going to another ice cream establishment that served us timely and had all flavors of ice cream available to purchase. read more

I think this place, which is called Bruster's at this point, seems oddly underrated here on Yelp. On a summer night, there's always a long line of foot traffic (you order at the counter outside or you drive thru). The list of flavors is long and tempting. The price for a take-home pint is on par with what you'd pay for a regular cup with a topping at Marble Slab--about 5 bucks. I've also had friendly, prompt service at this location. It seems to be staffed by high school or college students, and they have always been friendly and cheerful. When we drove thru with the dogs in the car, they gave us two tiny doggie sundaes for free! I haven't tried any of the beverages, but the ice cream has been DELICIOUS. My favorite is cookie dough, which has a tasty vanilla base and plenty of tiny cookie dough bits--which aren't all hard and rocky like some other brands. The moose track flavor is a friend's favorite. If you live in the area, I highly recommend, whether you're driving through to indulge a craving or want an evening walk with a sweet treat at the halfway point. read more

Traveled here from quite far away only to find the cashier to have an attitude. After sub par service, the gentlemen making one of the cones completely botched it, it fell over and he put it in a dish without caring he messed it up. Asking for another cone, they were out of the flavor someone else wanted. I understand that they make the ice cream daily however it still continued to be advertised. The people that work here needs pay more attention. One Sunday afternoon i decided to give it a try. Stood in line for (not exaggeration) over 10 minutes before interrupting a conversation the employees were having with the customers in front of me who appeared to be their friends. I would have walked away but i really wanted to try Bruster's. Something about the ice cream itself was off, maybe the chocolate flavoring, it was extremely sweet. Ice cream was good but service is TERRIBLE. My fiancé and I had a coupon for a free small cup or cone from completing the summer reading challenge through Frederick County Public Libraries. We decided to walk up for service since there was no line. We stood at the window for 10 minutes without a single acknowledgment from any of the 3 employees inside. The young woman working even walked by the window several times. I understand that she was making orders for the customers that were seated at a table to the side but it's good customer service to greet your patrons even if you can't immediately serve them. We ended up going through the drive-thru just so we didn't waste the coupon. This was my first time to Bruster's and probably my last. read more

FIRST place that refused to share an ingredient list. We have severely allergic child. Manager on staff said they don't keep list but kept going to back and coming out to ask which ingredients we were concerned about. I wonder what "invisible" list he was checking. read more

Brusters. We don't go there any longer, aside from having extremely high price and usually being "out" of the ice cream you're looking for. I was there one evening to get ice cream and there was a teenage girl where the ice cream freezers are with shorts so short you could see her underwear if she had any on, she was also polishing her nails. I'm sure all three of these were health violations. read more

We had a corporate event and last minute needed a lot of ice cream so I called around to other places and even the Gburg location but no one could accommodate. This Frederick location was awesome and custom made 4 tubs of ice cream for us overnight! I'm definitely using them for catering events or getting big tubs of ice cream in the future. Their service is awesome! Thomas was great! Now onto the ice cream. Totally yummy and consistent with Brusters quality and taste. Everyone in our party LOVED it! Serious yum on the ice cream scale. Will return for ice cream with the kids as well as use them for corporate events. read more

Maybe we went on an off day??? Thought everything tasted like it had melted and been refrozen. No flavor in the vanilla, funny aftertaste. The milkshake tasted like ice crystals with no flavor. Won't be back. read more

Really good quality ice cream. They make things from scratch. Milkshakes took time. Just the way I like it. You can taste the difference.

I went through the drive thru and ordered a Sunday with mint chocolate chip ice cream and hot fudge and marshmallow, however I received a regular vanilla Sunday with a drop of hot fudge on one side. I did not discover this until after I had already driven away but was very disappointed. read more

The staff are awesome and friendly. I got a free sample of the pumpkin ice cream and it was too good I'll have to get it next time. This time I got death by chocolate and salted caramel in a large milkshake; simply delicious. Plus they give you more coupons with your purchase. I like coldstone and other major chains, but Bruster's has half off sundaes when you bring your own banana. I love this place. read more

Very disappointed. I purchased two scoops of ice that was supposed to have almonds in it. There was literally 1/2 of one piece of an almond. About a month ago I purchased two scoops of butter pecan there were no pecans at all. Guess it's time to look around for a new place to go read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. I am not impressed. I have visited them twice in the last 2 months and although they have great customer service, their icecream is nothing to rave about. It's bland and nothing special. I'd rather buy a carton of icecream next door from food lion then buy from Brusters. My fiance and I visited Bruster's tonight for the first time in Frederick, MD off of Crestwood Blvd. It was AMAZING. We decided to try a Blast because we weren't sure how the ice cream would be considering we never had it before and OMG. We got nestle crunch, mini reeses pieces and brownie chunks in it. In a way I am glad we went there because it was soo good but I'm also not happy about it because it's less than a mile from where I live and this could be bad for my diet..LOL...Honestly one of the best ice creams we have ever had and I already told my fiance that we could walk up there get ice cream and walk home!! LOL..not the best way to lose weight when getting married in a few months but it might have to do!! I am sitting here writing this review right now thinking about how much I want it again already!! I usually like this place but it probably will be a LONG time before I return. We went on Saturday evening and my daughter found a long hair in her birthday cake ice cream. I got a cup of a chocolate cayenne pepper ice cream to go which was really tasty until I pulled a finger nail out of it. Ugh. read more

In the past I have had great experiences here. But tonight I went and picked up ice cream for my family. We get the same thing every time, for some reason this time they wouldn't make us chocolate Oreo milk shakes.. but could make vanilla Oreo milkshakes.. we told them we have bought these in the past many times and he said that the manager said no, the manager never came over with an explanation to any of this. It's hard to mess up ice cream, but this place managed to. They were out of hot fudge and the chocolate ice cream tasted cheap and artificial. I took one bite and threw it away. On top of that, a single cup cost over three dollars which is a little stiff for just chocolate ice cream. Don't bother coming here, go to cold stone instead. read more

We moved to Maryland late last summer, but just found Brusters this weekend. The employees were very pleasant and offered us to be apart of the rewards program and email list. The portions were a very nice size and the ice cream was delicious! We are so happy to have finally found a good, simple, "old fashioned," scooped ice cream establishment. stay away from this store - very slow and never get the orders right, not sure if its lack of proper training, management or they just don't care - have been 3 times and each time has been worse then the other...if you have all the time in the world to wait in line and prepared to repeat your order at least 3 times and still not get correct then this is the place for you...awful...it def worth driving to moco in Gaithersburg if you really must have Brusters..what a dissapointment read more
