Lockhart opened Harts Cafe & Deli in the ALDI shopping plaza on 31 in Cicero, with a menu consisting of sandwiches where he makes ALL the meats himself including pastrami, corned beef and pulled smoked chicken. He has a breakfast menu with platters, sandwiches, pancakes & waffles, offers different coffee options, fish fry Fridays, and Soul Food Saturdays. I went into Harts today after reading a good review about them, and I work pretty close. I LOVE pastrami, and it is not easy to find home made pastrami in the area, so I was immediately interested. Chef Miguel gave me a whole run down of what he offered, told me how everything is fresh made from the pastrami to his whole grain mustard, so I ordered a half pastrami sandwich with a side of his seasoned fries. He also has one of those machines that squeezes fresh orange juice, something I've only seen in one other restaurant here, and I love fresh orange juice, so I ordered once of those as well. He went back and made it immediately. My sandwich was fresh and hot, with thick slices of delicious pastrami on a roll with his home made tangy musatard, leaf lettuce and tomato. The HUGE pile of fries were seasoned well, and I can't place what the seasoning reminds me of, but it's different than any other fries I've had here and they taste great. A half sandwich, large side of fries and fresh squeeze juice cost me about $20. Chef Miguel was extremely friendly, and has a lot of stuff on the menu I want to try, cause I'll definitely be going back.

The onion rings were pretty good, too. I gotta say for a place that kinda screams "overpriced", it really isn't. Came to almost exactly 50 dollars for two burgers with fries, order of onion rings, and a soft drink. Honestly? In this economy? Pretty fair for the size and quality. 6 dollars for a shake kinda surprised me too, albeit I didn't order one. Server was nice. Place was probably overstaffed, but pretty great experience overall. Very pleasantly surprised. Check it out.

The calm ambiance and muted, cinnamon-brown walls of the space's predecessor, Cafe at 407, which closed at the end of 2023, have been replaced with TVs in the dining area and bar, a wall-length mural and a little nook with a neon sign that reads "Say Cheese!" and Polaroids of satisfied customers pinned to the wall. The menu taps into childhood fast food nostalgia, with burgers, fries, onion rings and milkshakes -- plus beer, wine, cocktails and boozy sodas. With five burgers, two chicken sandwiches, two salads, a few shareable starters, Fly Bird chicken tenders, a Chicago-style glizzy and a fried fish sandwich served only on Fridays, the menu isn't long, but offers enough variation to appeal to most diners. The wife and I stopped in on a Saturday right at opening time. We were sat and given menus immediately. We decided to share a burger and fries and an order of tenders. We ordered the blue suede shoes - a burger topped with cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato, carmelized onions, pickles and house remoulade and an order of hot stuff buffalo tenders. Our food was brought relatively quickly and we enjoyed everything. Fries were fresh, crispy and seasoned, burger was cooker perfectly, the tenders were fresh, crispy, saucy and had just the slightest kick of heat to them. Our server was very friendly and helpful, prices were comparable to similar restaurants, and we has plenty of food to bring home. We'd definitely go again.

I did not specifically drive here from Marcellus to eat here...but as good as it was I could see making the drive from Marcellus just for this chicken. Total FAN... When it first opened, I went opening day and the line was wrapped around the plaza and people said they had been waiting 3 hours! I decided to go back a few weeks later and there was a very small line but the wait was quite long. My first impression was good - god quality chicken, good fries, good flavor, but not much spice. I recently wanted to try again but this time I ordered take out. I tried the medium chicken sandwich and there was almost no flavor this time? I should've gotten spicier but there wasn't anything there at all.. It did come with a lot of their Daves sauce but I was expecting more flavor from that as well. I think it's fun to have every once in a while - a good new chain to have nearby!

On this Edition of Takeout Thursday we have Brooklyn Pickle (West)!…read more Never had it before and while i was tempted by the riggies being on special today, had to go with a sandwich for the first time. Got Roast Beef/Lettuce/Provolone/ Thousand Island. Sandwiches are hard to mess up and impress when they are cold cut but the price for the size along with the roast beef being a good cut definetly make this a good sandwich and I can understand the enjoyment. Coupled with it I ordered a soup and while they didnt have the meatball medley the chicken noodle was warm and comforting and additionally they gave us a mac salad to make up for the meatball medley being ordered but not available. Love a good paprika on my mac salad and they did it well. Would go back and try something else!

We came around lunch time on Saturday August 30th 2025 - Upon walking in, I noticed the menu board was written in very small font and had no descriptions so it was kind of hard to figure out what we wanted. I asked the employee for the most popular choice and she recommend the Brooklyn special which had swiss cheese, pastrami, corned beef and prosciutto. This came on a rye bread, with a type of mayonnaise and we added lettuce, tomato and onions. We got only 3 pickles for the huge sandwich which really did not seem like enough. I appreciated how much meat there was but the overall sandwich was lacking in flavor. The "Russian dressing" tasted like regular mayo. I did not see a regular reuben sandwich option on the menu, perhaps this was something you needed to request - but it would have been better to have a toasted bread perhaps or just a different sauce. Portion was huge, pricing was fair, but the overall flavor was boring so that is disappointing.
