    The Lake Effect

Really enjoyed my bowl from here. I got the Lake Effect (coconut base, mango, almonds, honey) and added bananas and chia seeds. All bowls come with granola which is nice. I think all açaí places are overpriced but this bowl was super yummy!!

Wow I am very impressed. This shop opened a few days ago on the hill, which was a great idea. I think this might be the best one in cuse. Good size portion for only $10. Lots of options to choose from with an extensive menu or you can build your own. The granola does not contain any nuts. Fruit was very fresh. I loved the coconut base. I haven't seen a shop offer that. It's a coconut banana taste. Also their bases aren't as soupy as the other shops and I think I prefer it that way. This shop is going to be a hit. I hope they can keep up.

A little pricey but worth it in my opinion. The cashier was very sweet and the place itself is small and cute and quaint. They assume you are taking your order to go because I wasn't asked & the tables weren't cleaned. When I sat down for a moment to take a picture they didn't seem fazed so maybe there is no difference. I have to admit the fresh juice wasn't tasty in fact kind of gross but I drank it anyway for 7.50 ( I got melon Hydrate) - the smoothie was delish and guilt free because of the ingredients. I also got a create your own salad and that was tasty. Will be returning when I do another fruit and veggie diet!

First time coming here and it was excellent! For only being open for a week, they have everything organized and well staffed. This is the only açaí bowl shop in Syracuse. Pricing is not high and very comparable to other shops (less expensive than the açaí bowl place in Cicero). This was the best tasting acai bowl I've ever had. They have bowls you can choose from, or do a build your own! The fruit is very fresh. I waited less than 5 minutes for it as well. The interior of the shop is cute and gives off great vibes. All workers were friendly and explained the menu well. They have it well organized and have no cross contamination for typical allergies. Fantastic place and location! Will be returning.

My favorite is the coconut base, which I've yet to find at any of the other spots in town.

Rather than telling the person handling the phone order that the croissants were already ordered, the cashier just apologetically smiled. It's our first time here (we told the cashier that) and she tried to offer other options, but we weren't looking for cake first thing in the morning. What's weird is that the person handling the phone order was making drinks before and after so I'm not sure if this was an order for a friend or a legitimate customer. The whole thing was disappointing and soured our opinion and experience. Seven employees were working and it still took over 10 mins to get two lattes. When served, our drinks were not hot because the espresso shots had been sitting on the counter cooling off while the milk was steamed and the flavoring added. The interstellar had good flavor but was kid's temp by the time I got it. The honey saffron didn't taste like anything and was slightly warmer, but fell flat flavorwise. Overall, the experience didn't feel particularly high end as the prices would reflect, nor efficient. I'm not sure if I would return.

Overall, I enjoyed my visit. The vibe was relaxed and low-key, making it a good place to sit down and get some work done. I spent some time working while I was there and appreciated having a space where I could focus without feeling rushed. The staff was pleasant, and one of the employees was kind enough to take a picture for me when I asked, which I appreciated. The only thing that stood out to me was that there wasn't much of a greeting or acknowledgment when I walked in, but it wasn't a huge issue. The seating was okay. The chair I chose wasn't the most comfortable for an extended stay, but it got the job done. There was also some rock music playing during my visit, which helped create a casual atmosphere. I didn't order any coffee or food this time around, so I can't speak to the menu yet. This visit was more about finding a place to work and unwind for a bit. Would I come back? Yes. While I'm still searching for my go-to coffee lounge in Syracuse, Recess is definitely a spot I'd visit again. It has a chill, unpretentious vibe that makes it easy to settle in and spend some time there. I forgot to take more pictures will do when I go back.

They also sell some very cute greeting cards, earrings, magnets, etc. We ordered two drinks (Ube Espresso, Crème Brûlée latte), a flower pot mini cake (chocolate cake with raspberry filling in a decorative flower pot), a crème brûlée donut, and a spinach puff. The desserts were good, with the flower pot mini cake being our favorite. The chocolate cake was moist and the raspberry filling was balanced. We didn't love the flower frosting on top, but it was very pretty. The donut was very unique and filled to the brim with a fluffy cream - though we both thought it could've had a bit more flavor. The dough was perfect - soft and pillowy. The crème brûlée top made for a fun eating experience as the thin hard sugar had a satisfying crunch. The spinach puff was also delicious. Flaky pastry and cheesy filling - very comforting. The stars of the show were the drinks. The coffee was superb - balanced, smooth, and rich in flavor. While I didn't find the ube flavor to stand out, the ube espresso drink was still one of my favorite coffee drinks I've had. The Crème Brûlée latte was my friend's favorite - it was the perfect dessert drink. It even had the sugar crust on top. I would definitely come back to try more of their menu!
