Came here sadly to have an espresso and catch up on the internet. Problem was their internet wasn't even working. I bared the place again and can tell you they must have repaired the issue. The espresso is overpriced and the claim is it's some rare bean. Pretty tough to lay such a claim when you can get a comparable coffee and most other coffee shops for less. Finally, can't figure out the spoon thing at the end of the counter. Trying to figure which are clean might take a bit. I do understand the need to be conscious of waste and expense, but it should be a bit more organized. read more

Love Troost. Perfect menu of coffee, wine, beer, cheese and light meals. Amazing backyard and lovely, comfortable decor inside. You could really come here at any point in the day and it would feel just right. A most excellent addition to the neighborhood. read more

I love this place! It's so cute. Good place to get coffee and sit down, or brunch. The lox spread is absolutely amazing. Very relaxed and great atmosphere, especially the backyard which is just fantastic. The service is also very friendly and accommodating. I have never had alcohol here, so I can't really speak to the drinking experience. One minor complaint: $4 for a tiny cup of watermelon juice!? read more

I would give this place 2 1/2. Being in Brooklyn and the level of good coffee, this place doesnt really cut it. Also Ive lived in NYC for a long time and Im used to just spending $40 walking out of my apartment but I got small regular coffee and banana bread pastry...$6. Really? I'm an ok fan of Troost. I love coming in for the quartinos, I think its a good deal for the wine and the place looks great and everyone's pretty friendly, even though they're into their own things - which is good I think... It would've been 5 stars if they just had a couple more options to snack on while I'm enjoying my wine.. The cheese is good but really wish there had been two or three more things so that I had some choice and could spend a little longer enjoying the afternoons and the company. Will definitely keep coming in though! read more

The cappuccino was a little too milky, but otherwise decent. The coffee was pretty bitter so I'd more recommend going for the atmosphere, which was nice. Prices are pretty average for Greenpoint. The ambiance makes it a nice place to work, although my computer has had problems with their wifi the past couple of times I've been and there aren't too many places to plug in your computer. That being said it would be a good place to do offline work. read more

You broke my heart when you stopped opening your doors in the AM. I have worked hard to come to terms with losing my all-time favorite place to work and write, I am sure your reasons were just. But I simply do not feel you as a bar. Who you are really meant to be, deep down, is a daytime delight. Disclaimer: I only had a bagel w/ cream cheese and a cup o' tea at Troost. That being said, it was a delightful experience. The place has a really relaxed vibe and the owner is awesome. The best part is the outdoor space, which is quite lovely (and dare i say, romantic). Troost is definitely worth the trip. read more

The place could be amazing. I go in so often and don't make a fuss about a thing, but couldn't be treated with more distane... The espresso is decent. Not incredible, but good to very good depending on who is making it. I still go there almost every day, but I wish the people working would at least smile. The owner, who was responsive and kind via email, spoke to the staff who were in turn responsive and kind. The volume became more reasonable, the backyard is great, and 4 stars is far closer to the reality... OLD REVIEW: Love to give two more stars but the music, although for the most part good, is frequently so loud* it leads to suspicions that the staff resents the customers, most of whom are working on computers. I can sympathize--I really can--but without these customers you'd have scarcely any business. Time to face the reality: if you open up a nice cafe with free wi-fi, they will come. Making it annoying isn't going to help. Just kill the wi-fi if you don't want people working on computers, just like you do after 5pm. But the loud music thing, well, not sure how much longer before it turns from charming quirk to obnoxious deterrent. Guess we'll see! *Really, I think it drowned out a jack hammer and a passing jet. read more

Consistently one of the best iced Americanos I've ever had. For a light breakfast the Monkey Boast is delicious and filling too--and I dig the a la carte 50-cent hard boiled eggs. Nice atmosphere with good music is a major plus for remote working. In warmer weather the garden out back is really pleasant at night for a beer or glass of wine. In a neighborhood full of both cozy decor and coffeeshops, this place still feel special. I'm in love with the garden - really the nicest outdoor space around. Nice amount of light food, and the coffee hits the mark. But the greatest thing is a couple taps serving some tasty beer. There's nothing better than a couple mellow beers at a coffeeshop, and no place I'd rather spend an hour in Greenpoint. read more

Good selection of beer and wine with fair prices. Also good coffee (... donuts to go with, too!). Haven't tried the food options but I think it's mostly cheeses and lighter snacks. The wood booths are custom built and cozy, adding to the really nice ambiance. Definitely a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

I love Troost. It's one of those increasingly rare cafes where you can actually go and work for hours, or swing by with a friend for a chat. They make delicious sandwiches, and they have a massive back yard. The only problem is the coffee, which just isn't that good but they charge like it is. Still, this is New York; here I've learned to take my coffee how I find it. read more

This is my favorite neighborhood coffee place. They are pretty quick on weekdays when I need to run to the subway, and a little more laid back on the weekends. Both the hot and iced coffee is amazing, and I'm also a big fan of their donuts and bagels! I'm so happy this place opened up, it's a good combination of coffee shop and breakfast place. read more
