I love a restaurant that has a good mix of vegan and non-vegan entrees! There's something for everyone, including gluten-free options. The vegan bahn mi with fried tofu was really good! It came on a super fluffy bread roll and the sauces were delicious. Service could have been better, it was just extremely slow. They had about 6 specials but they made the waitstaff tell us the specials verbally over the super loud music. If you're going to have that many specials and live music I feel like you should just print a specials list. Also they won't seat you if your whole party isn't there just FYI. I would come back mostly for the food! read more

I want to like this place really, really badly...I've been here twice and while the menu is creative, the food is just OK. The atmosphere and cocktails are what really drove me to go back the second time. If I go back, it will probably be for drinks. read more

Troop wouldn't be my first brunch option but def one of my options for a few drinks! Food during night seemingly is better than the brunch food in my opinion. I love the dark ambiance and there is always wonderful staff that's on the floor or at the bar! read more

Let me start by saying: BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! My girlfriend and I visited Troop for Brunch on a Saturday with a friend. We were seated immediately and the server brought us water right when we sat down. The service at Troop is amazing. They have a wonderful and friendly wait staff that is very knowledgeable of the menu. My girlfriend had French toast with a side of chicken. The French toast was cooked to perfection. It favors a southern peach cobbler, so if you order it, I hope you're in the mood for brunch and dessert. I ordered "That Chicken Biscuit" and substituted home fries for regular fries. The biscuit was nice and soft. The sauce accompanying the biscuit took it and the chicken to another level. I'd highly recommend it. We all ordered bottomless mimosas for $20/person. I had the mango mimosa and my girlfriend ordered the pineapple one. She switched to mango after trying mine. It was superb. Troop has a nice ambience, great artwork and it is a very solid establishment. I promise this will not be my last vi. read more

My wife and I enjoyed our first visit. The decor is cool and hip (unlike that sentence). The service was fast and friendly and the food was excellent. The beer selection was perfect for us, lots of bold choices. We started with the okonomiyaki app. It was good, but I think I would've preferred something other than seafood in it, say pork belly. Bonito flakes are so strong that the last thing I needed was more seafood flavor. For entrees, I got the bánh mì, and it was spot on. My wife got the fried chicken sandwich (which I tried). I wished the bread that came on the chicken sandwich was a little bit more substantial. It ended up getting kind of soggy by the end. The fries were dark and crispy. I'll definitely go back. read more

Honestly I had the best time at Troop when visiting family in RI. I went with my mom there for brunch, and we both loved it. You can tell the place gets lit when the sun goes down but it was nice to see it on a chiller vine in the day for brunch, my older mom was more a fan of that ambiance lol. The space is pretty good and designed with eclectic black pride. Everyone had there own space, there's plenty of space. Our service was great, the waiter was attentive and friendly, always checking in on us. And lastly the food was the best part! You will not be disappointed at all in the portion or the flavor. My sandwich was so good, I had to save some later! Would recommend anyone stopping by here, it's worth the drive! read more

Do not go. We waited over an hour for our food only to be disappointed. The coleslaw on the chicken sandwich was so salty that it was inedible, the $26 hanger steak was only 3 pieces (2-3 ounces max for what is already a cheap cut of steak), and service was also not good. In fact, our server Adam H. was incredibly passive aggressive after-the-fact and did not make us feel welcome. When we politely asked about the long wait time, he said that it was a "scratch kitchen" and "isn't fast food." He also proceeded to ask us point-blank "well do you need to be somewhere else right now or something?" Trying to parade the kitchen as a made-to-order place was laughable as the street noodles tasted like the chefs had never even seen a single dish from Southeast Asian cuisine before. I've never left a bad review before, but the service, lackluster food, and overwhelming atmosphere was too disappointing with such great reviews from others. Not to mention that this was our friend's birthday dinner, and it was immensely shocking how poor the service was. Avoid at all costs. read more

This was a pleasant surprise! The food was delicious, the portions were huge, and the drinkies were flowin! My meal was awesome but my cocktail......oh...my...god. It was a spiked beet and kombucha cocktail that was the color of a sunset. Bright fuchsia and diiivineeee. My only concern is the location. I wouldn't walk there and I wouldn't go alone, but once inside, you're sure to give your tastebuds a treat! read more

We were here on November for dinner around 8:30. Everyone wore mask and seating was spread out. We had Sangria and the Painkiller. They were both very good. We also had the wings, street noodles with shrimp, poutine and Troop Burger. Everything was great! I actually had leftovers and liked my noodles better the next day.. We would definitely go back. read more

I love troop. Yes. They lost the guy who made the vegan bahn mi. No. My life has not been the same since. Yes. I still go whenever I can BECAUSE the REST of the food also happens to be amazing. Service is always friendly, but they do get busy, so be patient b1tch! The ambiance is the best in Providence. Inside there is almost too much too look at (don't forget to wash your hands) and outside they've made a lovely little scene across from a fascinating loft (that also houses a cool coffee shop and bar if you need something after dinner). I have brought everyone I know to Troop and I won't stop. read more

Food was not good. Place looks nice but aside from that does nothing for me. Drinks are okay. Sandwich was dry

The ambiance is nice and unique and very colorful. The waiters are kind. The food is overpriced and very underwhelming. I ordered the braised beef sandwich and it was disgusting, un-eatable. I also ordered the short rib, the sauce was very strong, only came with 5 small cubes of meat and no side so I had to order French fries that were a bit oily. It was more for instagram content than food quality. This place does turn into a bar/lounge at night and the passion fruit drink was good. read more

One word #vibes! Came with a group of friends for Memorial Day r&b brunch so pardon the late review. We opted for bottomless mimosas which had the whole table lit. Trendy and Unique Hipsters paradise here, but not irritating. The staff was very friendly and they are really mixing up some quality cocktails. It's a new age atmosphere with some great tunes playing while you drink and eat. Now the food, it's a very small simple menu. I had the street noodles, they were spicy and seasoned well. I got them with pork belly. It was delicious. My friend had the same and he said it was too spicy for him so beware. The place has a nice open kitchen in the back end of the restaurant so you can see what's going on. The food came out pretty quick for being very busy and in the meantime we had a shot with the bartenders. Super nice people. We'll definitely be back. Thanks read more

Troop PVD - Street Noodles with Pork Belly - Pretty f**king good - New American Near Me - Providence, Rhode Island

Tasty food, fun atmosphere, helpful staff. A great community-minded space that's great to check out in Providence! Great cocktails and we love the street noodles. Would love a few more veggie options. read more

What a great new find in Providence! For starters, the décor is urban-chic, funky, and colorful. They definitely nailed the whole '90s throwback aesthetic with their giant spray-painted murals, skateboard barstools, and old school hip hop. Service is really laid back but also attentive and friendly. A "Seat Yourself" sign greets you when you walk in the door. As I waited for my date, I relaxed on one of their cozy seating arrangements and perused the drink menu. I ended up ordering a delicious mescal drink with blackberry. My date ordered the Pineapple Upside Down Old Fashioned, which I also had a sip of. Both cocktails were really yummy and different. The vibe at Troop is super chill. When we finished our first cocktail, we sat ourselves at a table to order our meal. We split the squid which was fantastic. The head of the squid was nicely charred whereas the tentacles were fried. It was served over an Israeli cous cous that was delicious and came with the most flavorful roasted tomatoes. A lot of great flavors and textures in that dish. I then ordered the street noodles after hearing great things and they didn't disappoint. They're really light and tasty and the fried chicken I ordered as an add-on was moist and tender. I also had a few of my date's yucca fries (which came with his hanger steak) which were really great but I thought could have benefitted from some type of dipping sauce or aioli. Overall, a fantastic first experience at Troop. I can't wait to come back very soon and try more of their rotating menu! read more

We went here while in town for a baby shower and I loved the ambiance. It's such a fun restaurant with great vibes. The food is also so unique and delicious, a great fusion! Sat outside after answering some COVID screening questions. The staff wore masks and provided hand sanitizer. Ok I'm not a burger fanatic. But everyone needs to run to Troop now and get this burger special: burger + chili + jalapeños + cheddar biscuit. As soon as the waiter said it I went for it, and so glad I did. Salty, spicy, cheesy goodness. I'm already trying to figure out how I can get back there ASAP for another one. read more

Troop is fine. It is usually pretty loud, and the food is greasy. The design is fun, but I would 100% rather go to Ogie's where there is still a lot going on, but you can talk to the person next to you. Both these places were designed by the same team. read more

Troop is really cool. There is ample parking in the rear, and you walk into graffiti, Tupac, skateboards, and the coolest of all, Doug from Nickelodeon on the tube. Where can you possibly find that combo? There is an overarching hip hop theme here and they nailed it. The menu, however, is quite small. Nothing really catches your eye at first, but after ordering the noodles and chicken nuggets we were blown away by how sophisticated and tasty the dishes were. The noodle bowl reminded me of a $40 Singapore noodle in a high end Asian fusion spot, and the chicken nuggets were all white meat and juicy. I wish we weren't going somewhere else afterwards or we would have ordered more than two things. Until next time read more

It's everything you've heard about and then some. Super funky and eclectic decor that's so much fun. In the space that used to be Bocado, the space has been transformed into a distant memory of my almost forgotten drunken college years. 90's hip hop and R&B can heard blasting throughout the restaurant. And trust me I tried so hard, but the head bop just couldn't stop. Super relaxed atmosphere and service to match. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming. We ordered the yucca fries, street noodles and short ribs. The fries were def something different with just enough salt, the dipping sauce sold me. I did pull out an icky ginormous root in one of my fries that looked like something out of a horror movie but it didn't stop me from eating more. My noodles were good but not out of this world. My friend loved loved her Korean shirt ribs - she couldn't stop raving around them. Place is definitely worth a visit - if not for anything else but the visual appeal. There is parking in a lot across the street but with the snow that night - it was pretty limited. Go check it out already! Can't wait to go back. read more

We came here for good vibes but also was still serving food late which was nice. The food though was just okay and the options didn't really blow me away. It looks like maybe it's better for brunch food. The portions though were a very generous size but, I wouldn't recommend going there for the food. The music was great and our server was great as well. I had gotten a passion fruit and vodka which was tasty. The outdoor area is cute as well. If you're looking for a place to dance with good music, and a decent drink Troop is definitely the place, but if not maybe try somewhere else. read more

My hubby and I stopped in on a Sunday night b4 my sons LAX game at Brien university . I had read the reviews and heard the buzz around town about this place and finally had a chance to come by tonight to check it out. It took a few minutes for us to warm up to the place, there's so much to look and so many amazing details to take in, that it's difficult to figure out where to start. We sat ourselves in the center of the room and were immediately drawn to the 90's movies being shown on the TVs behind the bar and loved the awesome 90's music too (my favorite!) Some other fun details we were excited to see were the disco ball, the boom boxes, unique lighting, skater swag, and hand drawn murals proudly displayed throughout the space. In fact, each time we looked around, we noticed a new detail. The menu is very small but powerful and we immediately found things that we had to try. To drink we both decided on the pineapple upside down old fashioned (delicious!) then we shared the eggplant four ways (incredible!) and we ordered the short rib with crispy noodle and the street noodles for our main dishes. We shared everything and we practically licked our plates clean because every bite was on point. We certainly look forward to returning and trying more amazing food. read more

I do love the vibe, the classic hip-hop, and the art/graffiti. As far as the rest...meh! Let me list a couple complaints: Upon entering the hostess took the group in front of us but never returned to inquire if we were standing there for our health or if we would like to be seated. Might as well add that the bartenders would be better suited at a dive bar only slinging Coors lights. The food is so-so from what I hear and overpriced. Prime example being $12.00 for a add-on to a $13.00 noodle dish. A bit of intentional deception possibly? Speaking of deception. Be sure to ask if your cocktail will actually be a cocktail or if it will come as a thick slushy from a machine. No establishment should not let this be known. read more

Troop has always been a go-to restaurant for me! Always make a reservation, especially for brunch, because they're always busy. I've been to Troop for brunch and dinner at this point and have dined both indoors and outdoors. All of the waiters I've had were so sweet and had their own personalities to bring to the table. The waiters have a really good sense of the menu (both food and drink) which I really liked because I get ordering anxiety! Some food I'd recommend ordering: - Vegan Banh Mi - Pakoras (I'm Pakistani and these are pretty authentic tasting! Very close to what my mom makes at home. I almost cried.) - Street noodles (I get mine with shrimp and it's ACTUALLY flavored and spiced shrimp!) Overall - Troop knows how to mix the perfect amount of salt, fat, acid, and heat (iykyk). read more
