We called Tristar Gas Services to set up an appointment to have our fireplace looked at cause we couldn't get it to light. We couldn't get the gas to the striker and not sure of the problem. Mike went out of his way to help us troubleshoot over the phone. We sent him pictures and he walked us through each step to make sure everything was working. It was a problem with the damper. It works perfectly. Thank you Mike for your help and patience. read more

Beware. They don't show it to you when you are booking online, but they charge a crazy high service fee just to come out. Not worth the $250 service fee for sure. read more

This is first negative review I've ever given. I was very disappointed in lack of customer service! I had scheduled appointment as our fireplace was not turning on. The technician came out and cleaned connectors and got it working. However, within two weeks it stopped working and I scheduled appointment for them to determine issue. Technician said that it probably needed a new ignitor. I authorized order of part (approximately $300). I called five days later to follow up. I left several messages and never received a response. It became apparent that they had no intention of responding. Two months later, still haven't heard from them! I had another gas fireplace service come out and they had it working within fifteen minutes without ordering additional parts. I would never recommend Tristar Gas or Fireplace Service!!! read more

I am not sure what to say. They just blew me off. I scheduled an appointment online and received a confirmation email and text. On the day of the appointment no one showed up!! I called a left a message and my call was never returned. I have 4 fireplaces that need service so this was going to be a good job for them. If this is how they want to do business, then I will look elsewhere. read more

I scheduled an appt online. Shortly before my scheduled appt, I was contacted to see if I could reschedule because of being so busy. I politely agreed after having to switch my appt around. On the day of the reschedule, no one showed up. No one called either! Idid have a confirmation for the appt too. I tried contacting them 2 different ways but no one has bothered to get back with me! Do yourself a favor and find another company! VERY POOR customer service!!! read more

Mike and his employee are top notch. I've used Tristar for years. They did my wood to gas conversion and have always given great service.

Excellent Service! Mike owner of the Business called me personally after making a Service Appointment online (easy to do) that a Tech was to be in our neighborhood the following day and would come if that will work. Absolutely! 'DJ' the Service Tech arrived at the scheduled time, professional and efficient. My unit only required a 'Relighting', 'DJ' inspection found no other issues. Appreciate the Honest work! Nice too to see a Owner taking Pride! read more

I would not recommend this company. Tristar came out to service our gas fireplace because we were having problems with the fan mechanism. When they left the problem was not fixed and in fact the situation was worse. But the glass front panel was clean! It took two weeks to get them back to re-evlaluate and Mike decided we needed a part replaced. Three weeks later we no longer could even get them to answer the phone and give us a status report much less repair the fireplace. Their fee was $170.00 that we paid immediately but the problem was not fixed and we cannot use the fireplace. I give them one star...half for maintaining COVID precautions and half for pleasantness while in my home. read more

Book your appointment on line. They show up, do a great job. No BS hidden charges tech is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Got my gas stove running and nice and clean. read more

I would highly recommend Tristar Gas Services. This morning,Mike and Luis arrived to our new home and did a great job in connecting a flexible gas hose to our clothes dryer. They were punctual, friendly and competent. Mike and Luis were very reasonable in the price that they charged for services rendered. Dan and Elaine read more

Mike and his team are outstanding! They did an excellent job installing our gas fireplace and patiently explaining how everything worked. Years later, after we remodeled our house and fireplace they upgraded everything perfectly. Some of the fireplace vendors we contacted insisted on trying to sell us various "safety" equipment that were frankly scams to get us to buy more stuff from them. Mike will not sell you anything you do not need. Once when we were confused about getting our remote to work he talked us through the whole process to save us from needing a service call. We highly recommend Tristar Gas! read more

We scheduled an appointment over two weeks ago, first he didn't show up and when we asked he said it was for the following week. We then waited again the following Monday and no show. When we called to find out what happened, the owner Mike cussed me out and hung up on me saying since we don't understand that he's busy he refuses to come. It was unbelievable, I never leave reviews but everyone should know how horrible he treated a potential customer. Very unprofessional! No apology or reason for the no shows, just mad I even asked him where he was. read more

I can not say enough good things about this company. Their honesty and integrity are unheard of in this day and age. They took the time and energy to help me solve my own problem to avoid me having to pay for a service call. Who does that anymore? read more

Failed to show up for appointment. Did not respond when I called. Sent me a message about being too busy with snowbirds. Blessing in disguise. Saved me a $195 trip charge. You tube if you have a problem with your fire place. read more

I was very impressed with Mike and the service he provided. He was thorough, neat and the new gas fireplace starters work great. I would highly recommend Tristar for gas fireplace repairs. read more

My first experience was pretty good except for he said the original price I was quoted was wrong so I had to pay about $50 more.I was OK with that because he did go to work but he came out and move gas lines for me so that I could have some cosmetic work done on the wall and was supposed to come out last week to turn the gas back on. He was a no-show and now he's not returning messages to reschedule. I just want my gas turned back on. Update 6/5 I was finally able to reschedule for this morning, and again he did not show up or call. Incredibly unprofessional! Update: When I finally did get a hold of him, he turned the gas back on, replaced the switch on the wall and got the fireplace working. Unfortunately that switch went out and it's not working again. He did come and replace it but the very next day it stopped working again. Now he's not returning calls or responding to my texts. I am completely done with this company and will never work with Tristar again. It's bad enough that I had to chase him around to get him here but if the work isn't done correctly, he needs to take the time to fix that. read more

I have lived in my home for almost 4 years and have always been afraid to start my gas fireplace since I didn't know how well the previous owner had maintained it. I was able to book an appointment within a week to have Tristar come out and service the fireplace. Mike and his assistant called when they were about 20 minutes from my house. They actually arrived early for the appointment. They removed all the logs and cleaned each one, thoroughly cleaned the dusty interior, the glass door and gave me a lot of instructions on how to keep it running safely. I even recorded some of their instructions so I wouldn't forget. I highly recommend this company. Mike has over 35 years of experience and it shows. read more

They were prompt and fixed our gas fireplace with in 20 minutes, they definitely know what they are doing. If you need any service for your gas fireplace you need to call them. You won't regret it. read more

What amazing service. We had a heat emergency and really need the fireplace working. Mike fit us into a fully booked day and his tech diagnosed and fixed the problem quickly. These guys deserve a huge shout out for customer service. They saved the day for me. Thanks so much. read more

Mike called and said he would be 2 hours late which worked on my end. After saying I needed a new burner which I approved; my flame was still no better than before. They had to return the next day because when shutting the fireplace off; it continued to flicker. He told my wife that it was that way before. IT was NOT! Anyone who spends more time bragging about how many licenses he has should be qualified enough to have noticed it wasn't flickering when he arrived or he would have been told that was a problem. read more

Had Tristar come out for a gas fireplace that came with a house we bought. The fireplace would turn on then turn off after a minute or two. The tech was at our house for maybe 15/20 minutes. He vacuumed the fireplace and cleaned a piece under the logs as well as cleaned the glass....all this for the service call rate of $150. He did not smell gas so didn't check any valves. He also didn't even put the logs back in our fireplace correctly. $150 seems extremely high for what was done. Call around before deciding on these guys to save some cash. read more

I used Tristar Gas to run a gas line to my kitchen so I could switch to a gas range. Mike's quote was very reasonable, and I really felt like I could trust him. I was not wrong. He did an amazing job. When I went to put in my new range, I discovered that the gas was not installed far enough over to accommodate for the supports of the range and my stove would not push back all the way. I gave Mike a quick call and he was back out to move it over. Great guy and wonderful work! I would use him again in a heartbeat and will refer him to anyone I come across who needs some gas line work done. read more

If you want to set up an appointment online and get a computer generated response for anything, this is the company for you. I called, texted, as was suggested even and no one to answer any questions. No mention at all how much is charged for a visit...... I wonder if this company even exists, perhaps not. read more

Good friendly, on time service. Only replaced what needed to be to get fireplace working again.

Mike has been outstanding to work with. He did some repairs to our fireplace as well as installed a gas line to our kitchen and BBQ. He is extremely responsive to calls and answers all of my questions in a timely fashion. Made sure all the work was done to high standards and our back yard looks like it was never dug up. Thank you Mike for all of your hard work. read more

I can't rate them on the quality of their work; but on their lack of follow through. Mike came out to our house on a Sat to quote running gas lines to our laundry and kitchen; as we prefer gas appliances to electric. He gave good presentation: being ex-military and 20 years with the gas company, he had high standards. Which we appreciated. He said he'd get us a quote within a day or so. Since we were in the middle of a major home re-model, we gave him 10 days or so. I tried calling him. Call went to voicemail telling me I can arrange app't online, etc... I left him a message. I also texted him. It's been apprx a month now. We have not heard one word back from him. If the job was too small, we can appreciate that; but please communicate back to us so we are not left wanting. read more

These guys are great. They did a wonderful job while being quiet and whispering because my baby sister was asleep. They also cleaned the inside and outside of the glass on our fireplace and lifted the heavy glass back in place quickly and quietly! read more

Tristar fixed a gas leak in my fireplace. After talking with several other companies that didn't understand the problem or couldn't address it for several day, I was referred to Tristar. Mark reassured me he knew what the problem was and immediately responded and corrected the situation. I could not be happier with Tristar. They helped me with a very delicate issue and it was done quickly and at a very fair price. I would recommend them to anyone and feel very lucky to have had found them. Thank you Mark and your staff! read more

Tristar didn't live up to their name...they surpassed it. They should change it to Five-Star Gas Service! They did an amazing job fixing what the plumbers and electricians did. My fireplace looks amazing now...and I won't have to worry if it will work properly. read more

Final Update - The part he suggested did not correct the problem. He offered to come back out and was once again a "No Show" stating he'd try to stop by the next day - we had no further communication after that. My husband had questioned several times the condition of our "thermal coupler" when he was at the house, as it looked bad, and Mike said it was fine. Well, we purchased a thermal coupler for $24.80 on Amazon, my husband installed it, and guess what? We have a working fireplace no thanks to Tristar. I'm apt to believe the only reason he came out at all was due to the 1-star review I had initially given. We were charged $150 for the visit from Mike, paid another $80 for the part on Amazon (he insisted it would cost 100's if he purchased it due to the warranty which made no sense to me). And ultimately fixed ourselves for $24.80! I tried to give the benefit of the doubt when he seemed to try and make the first "No - Show" right, I'm just not okay being charged $150 on a mis-diagnosis followed by another "No-Show" Update 12/29 - I will leave the original comments below as they may be important to consider if you need service ASAP. Mike from Tristar called later in the evening and offered to troubleshoot with my husband over the phone - after no resolution, he came out today and tested and looked at it and suggested we order a part from Amazon to save us more money over using him (my husband is a pipe fitter). We will order and install the part and see how it goes. Completely Unacceptable! I called Tristar, only to get a voicemail to send a text to schedule service. I sent the text and was provided a link to schedule on line. Scheduling was 2 weeks out. I went ahead and scheduled, received confirmation of appointment that day and again the night before the appointment. As the appointment window came near closing, I sent a text message and asked if he was still coming out for the scheduled appointment. Response was " No. I'm sorry. I will call later." After questioning the lack of service and not even calling to let me know something had happened, he sent me a number to another company that was booking appointments 4-5 weeks out. I should have looked at more of the 1-Star reviews as this seems to be common practice. read more

Called to make an appointment, told to go to website to book. I did, got an appiontment for 1pm. I got a conformation #,their website states any afternoon booking may be between 1 and 6. I figured since I was so far away that they may have stopped at closer appointments. Around 5:30 I haven't heard from them I tried calling and texting with no response. If they weren't going to make it they could at least let me know. read more

I shared the following with Mike, I assume the owner. I heard nothing back from him. Also posted it to his web page. Being nothing was heard, I have to assume he has no counter response. "I wanted to share with you my disappointment in your customer service. I booked an appointment on line because you do not seem to offer a way to speak to a live person. In that appointment I requested you contact me prior to confirming the appointment to discuss costs and fees. I did not get the courtesy call I requested. I got a text message several days later asking where I lived to which I responded with my address and another request for a phone call. Again, no call. Your tech called this morning, arrived at the schedule time, and seemed reasonably competent. He told me the gas valve was bad and it was $262 to replace it. When the work was done I'm advised the total is ~$420 because there is a $150 service fee (don't know the exact amount as I am still awaiting a receipt - BTW, taking a picture of a credit card for billing with an insecure phone is not my favorite process either). Nowhere on your webpage or during the appointment booking process is there any mention of a service fee. You charged me $262 for a part that is readily available retail for well under $100. I wanted to personally let you know my frustration, poor customer communications and exorbitant pricing." read more

Worst service ever! Mike came to my home to repair my fireplace. When he arrived 3 hours earlier than the appointment he insisted he had 20 years experience and would have the fireplace fixed in 10 minutes. After an hour and a half Mike explained he didn't have the parts I needed. He promised to come back next week. When I didn't hear back on scheduling I called Mike and ask when he was coming back to finish. He scheduled for days later and sent his assistant with the wrong parts and he spent 2 hours unsuccessfully trying to make them work the assistant promised to return with Mike the next day to take care of it. Today Mike has been badgering me to agree to $705.00 to return and finish. I ask him to come to my home and finish the job and if he was fair I would pay the bill. Mike abruptly quit and suggested I call some one else. I wouldn't recommend Mike and Tristar gas to my worst enemy. Big waist of my time! read more

Made an appt with this company for 7am and 10 mins after my scheduled appt I get a call saying they messed up the booking and couldn't make it that day. I was talked into making another appt "whenever I want" so they could make this right and again I made a 7am appt. I called 10 mins into my appt to see if they were still coming because nobody was here yet and I was told the tech was running late and wouldn't be here until 9am. I told them not to bother coming at that point. They shouldn't make 7am appts if the actual window is 8-12. Secondly, if they tell a customer to please give them a second chance cause they messed up then they better make sure they don't leave the customer hanging again. No respect for other people's time. Would never recommend this company. read more
