Last year, Triple J Landscaping removed my old concrete walkway and installed a new and slightly wider brick walkway. They moved my concrete walkway's handrail and set it in concrete to the left of the brick walkway. Also, they repaired my brick steps. After they finished the job, I noticed there were small gaps between the bricks in the walkway and the mortar repair on the brick steps was a bit sloppy (too much mortar in some places and too little in other places). I e-mailed James Ramos and his assistant, Julie, said he would come back and fix those issues. I waited for months, and they gave me excuse after excuse for not being able to come back and to this day he still hasn't fixed them.
This year, I tried turning on my sprinkler system and it wasn't working. The sprinkler system was in working condition before Triple J Landscaping installed the walkway so I was bit surprised it wasn't working. I called McGrath Irrigation to fix it and they spent hours looking for the sprinkler valves. It was hard to find the valves because Triple J Landscaping's crew pulled the control line off the valve, re-routed it under the brick walkway, and never re-attached it so McGrath couldn't use the control line to trace the location of the valves. McGrath dug around my lawn and found one valve buried under concrete with the handrail on top of it! They found another valve buried in stonedust under the brick walkway! McGrath told me that the two valves were shattered and because of that, dirt got into the system and clogged up a third valve. All 3 valves had to be replaced and the control line was re-attached. McGrath charged me $675.74 to repair the sprinkler system. I e-mailed James Ramos to ask him to reimburse me for the damage caused by his crew, and they blamed me for the damage to the sprinkler system by saying that I didn't tell them about the working sprinkler system. Also they said they're not liable because we don't have a contract to have the walkway installed around a working sprinkler system, and they assumed that I didn't plan on using the sprinkler system any more. Do I really need to make a list of things not to damage? Any person with common sense would know not to install concrete and a handrail on top of one valve, and a brick walkway and stonedust on top of another valve. Also, if they had doubts about whether the sprinkler system was going to be used anymore, they should have just called me and asked me if I still planned on using it. I would have gladly paid for any extra costs for moving the sprinkler valves. McGrath told me it would have been easy to move the valves out of the way: they could have replaced the hose between the valves with a longer 4 foot hose.
I would not recommend Triple J's Landscaping because they do not stand behind his work and don't reimburse you when they damage your sprinkler system. read more
