Shawn is the real deal! I recently moved to Concord and have a large property to maintain (5+ acres) Over the past two years, Shawn and his team have maintained my property beyond my expectations! We have done a lot of work to get the grounds to where they are now, from expanding my irrigation system, construction of fire pits and patio work, to completely transforming two neglected fields into a beautiful lush lawn. Literally ripping up fields and new lawn install from scratch - a ton of work. Nothing beats pulling into my driveway and seeing my lawn looking like a golf course. They even cut perfect lines with the weekly mowes. I receive a lot of compliments on it. His prices are very reasonable and it's nice having a "one stop shop" that can handle literally any outside project that comes to mind. HIGHLY recommend! read more

We had used Concord Tree and Landscape in the past, and although there were sometimes issues we were usually able to resolve them with Shawn, the owner. We returned to using them last fall after another contractor ghosted us and they did a fine job on our fall cleanup. But this season's maintenance contract and agreement for some additional work were a very different experience. We repeatedly spoke with or exchanged text messages with Shawn or emailed the office. While Shawn sometimes responded (the office did not), his responses and the behavior of crews sent to our property had no relationship to each other. A crew was repeatedly promised and didn't show, or a crew showed up for a few hours and left without finishing the work. We wasted hours and changed work schedules to wait and be available to help direct the crew to what needed to be done, only to have no crew show up. When a crew did show up, they had no plant knowledge and pulled out perennials they shouldn't have despite being walked through and helped to identify things. Work was consistently sloppy. A separate project plan estimated with the owner, then amended with him, was poorly executed and left unfinished. We were then double billed, both for the full original estimate and again separately for the amended scope of work actually done. When we pointed out the error, staff doubled down - sending photographs of unfinished weeding work under our general maintenance contract to "prove" that two additional separate projects had been completed. We ended our contract with them mid-season. Sorry to have to do this, since we like Shawn and have worked well with him in the past. But we can't afford the headaches and costs of fixing the messes and we wouldn't recommend them to others. read more

We were really unimpressed with Concord Tree and Landscape. They never understood the vision we were trying to achieve and their work ,and associated oversight, was really lacking and sub-standard. We have had rocks come loose from the hardscape they did that were cemented in place. This should not be happening. Of course, now that the work has been completed they refuse to pick up the phone or answer our emails. If you're in the market, find another provider and save yourself the headache. read more

I worked with Concord Tree and Landscape for two years in two different ways: first for general landscape maintenance and second to do a large masonry project. In summary, the experience across all of it was consistently frustrating and I would not recommend them to others. On the large project, it ran way over time (I was told six weeks and it took six months) and budget. The "architect" was negligent throughout, never taking notes when we talked, consistently making mistakes or just outright forgetting what we'd discussed. The stonework itself was very well done but the guy that led that has since left the company. I also had to manage the process on a near-daily basis as the plans the team was given to work against didn't match what I'd discussed (and mocked up) with the architect. The plantings that came with the large remodel project were a disaster - they look bad, are seemingly randomly installed (zero thought to placement or spacing), and often directly contradicted things I specifically asked for (e.g., I said no yellow flowers and got a small field of black-eyed-susans). When I asked to have some of it addressed I was given a proposal for another $5K. On the maintenance side the quality was poor and service was spotty. They regularly skipped services like weeding flower beds until I raised them proactively. They damaged some arborvitae when they wrapped them in burlap for the winter - something they told me I needed. When I asked for specific things (e.g., staking a small tree that had bent over) they would promise to do it and then never follow through. The list goes on. I think people probably mean well but the company is oversold, under manned, and poorly organized. When I discussed my frustrations with employees of the company at my house they would regularly say they weren't surprised, things were chaotic, and they were sorry but couldn't do anything. Seems like a small business that is experiencing growing pains. Generally CT&L would fix things if I pushed enough but the effort and headache involved with that just isn't worth it. I'd recommend that others skip the frustration and find landscaping help elsewhere. read more

I was looking for a new landscaping contractor for my house in Wayland when I stumbled upon this company. The reviews seemed good and people seemed to generally have nice things to say about the company. I reached out to them via their web portal about getting a quotation. It took them over a week to even acknowledge it my email. It took almost another week to get them to come out and look at the place. I met a gentleman named Keith who walked through the entire project with me with a promise to send me the final numbers over the weekend. When Monday came by and I didn't hear from them I called again to ask for my quotation and I didn't hear back from them until Tuesday. Keith sends me an email saying that the owner (Shawn) prefers to work with clients with more income/larger homes. Here are his exact words from his email "In recent discussions with the owner of the company, he feels that our focus needs to be on a much higher end residential home and property." I sent him a thank you note and have since found a better company to handle our landscaping needs. If Concord Landscaping truly feels that they cannot cater to the needs of low/middle income households they should state it clearly on their website. So if you happen not to be a millionaire please look for a more suitable company as Concord will not be a suitable place for you read more

We hired Concord Tree & Landscape to renovate our yard. A family member was getting a quote from Shawn and mentioned we were looking to have work done. Shawn contacted me that afternoon, and came by the following day not only to look at the yard and scope of work, but also got me a quote within a couple of hours. We were initially looking at just renovating our yard (turning everything over, regrading the lawn, and hydroseeding), but they were able to do all of the above, as well as remove the stones from our old patio, some old logs that were going to have to be cut up to be removed, AND removed our back fence that was falling apart and installed a new one... and all of the work came in around the same price some other companies were quoting just to renovate the yard. Apart from the quote itself - Shawn, Rob (our project manager), and their crew were all timely, professional, and extremely accommodating and communicative throughout the entire process. The quality of work performed was fantastic, and we are incredibly pleased with how well things turned out. They were able to start working within a couple of weeks, and finished the work in only a couple of days. Last summer, we were looking at a landscape contractor who could install a patio, fence and overhaul our lawn and garden area. Most of the contractors we talked to wanted to charge an upfront design fee to talk seriously about our project. In contrast, Dan from Concord Tree listened carefully to our wants, and brought in the necessary subcontractors (for the fence and driveway) before giving us a pretty detailed plan and price quote without an upfront design fee. The crew that did the work from Concord Tree was very nice, neat, and hard working. We got tips from them at the end about watering our new lawn, though we would have also liked a few tips about taking care of our other new plantings. We were happy enough with their work that we've recently engaged them to remove a large dead tree from our property, too. In general, Shawn (company owner) is pretty responsive, though he sometimes needs an extra reminder on things. He's been professional and courteous, though, and worked hard to make us happy. read more

Our neighborhood is filling up with Concord Tree and Landscape yard signs! After seeing the great job they did on neighbors' properties, we asked Shawn to come out and give us ideas on our neglected yard. Their landscape designer, Dan, suggested we remove a huge amount of scraggly shrubs from our front yard and reseed the lawn. In a single day, their crew completely cleared all of the dense rhododendrons as well as the roots, a long hedge, and all of the existing grass in the front yard. They put down a few inches of screened loam and dry seeded everything. A crew came back the following day (a Saturday morning, no less) to hydroseed. Overall, Shawn is a great resource for advice and very easy to talk to. Dan was also very helpful in terms of keeping the scope reasonable. When we need more work done in our multi-phase yard renovation, we'll call them back. read more

Shawn and his team are AMAZING! Truly AMAZING! I called them in a panic about a project that I couldn't finish myself (I perpetually over-promise and underachieve on my own DIY projects...whoops). Scott was very easy to work with and helped us get through the submission process with our Condo association. Shawn and his team installed a front paver walkway for us. The entire process was painless for me, as Shawn is very understanding and made every effort to understand what we were looking for and to understand our needs. The install was done to plan and just as represented. The look is, well, better than expected! The team left the worksite cleaner and neater than they found it. The initial customer service was excellent, as we were discussing bush removal, adding sod and possibly building a fence. But when the fence was no longer in the picture, unfortunately neither was the customer service. Some of the sod went brown, though we maintained it exactly as instructed. Then more. We also paid for power washing that cost $450, but later priced another service who said it would cost $150 for an even more thorough job. Correspondences were not returned. They seem like decent, well-meaning professionals; but in our case, I feel like we paid for a bill of goods. read more

We were looking for a major landscape design project after moving into our new home. Concord Tree and Landscaping were so easy to work with and guided us through the whole process from design, developing plans, and project implementation. Dan from the design team met with us many times over a couple months to fully understand what we were looking for and then with his expertise put it into an incredible design. He was very detail oriented and thoughtful. Once this was completed, he handed it off to the project manager, Mike. We had both hardscape and landscape elements in the project and the whole team did such an excellent job. The job took about 2-3 weeks to complete.
