We bought our house 3 years ago in the dead of winter at a time when the snow cover concealed the abhorrent condition of the backyard and from the time the snow melted that spring our back yard has been a thorn in our side. The soil was dry and acidic without adequate light or water for good grass and as such were overgrow with crab grass, dandelions, poison ivy/oak, all with a subterranean network of root structures that was endless. We met with multiple landscapers and were impressed with Rich's competence and character and elected to go with him and Hawkeye. Rich's proposal was to excavate the entirety of the backyard, remove an ineffective drain pipe, install a sprinkler system, lay down 60-70 yards of loam and hydro seed the yard. Rich and his team were very hardworking and completed the project within a week of 8 hour days. Within 10 days of the end of work we were able to see sprouts of grass. Perhaps what has impressed me most has been how attentive Rich has been since the completion of the project. Soon after the seed was planted we experienced a heavy rain that washed some seed away and left a few dead spots in the grass, and when I emailed Rich about this he was at our house within a few hours reseeding the areas that needed it. We have since hired Rich for fall clean up and will plan to use him for regular services going forward. I would recommend Hawkeye Landscaping without hesitation.

He performed the work needed: repair cracks on bottom outdoor step, and cracks around frame leading to my basement and a few other small areas. Within 2 days some cracks started forming. Also the step was a mess - not uniformly smooth. I texted a month later (April), he said he would fix it. Again texted in May and same response. Texted again in June and no response. I then called and left voicemails. Never received any responses. The frame around the basement steps now has much bigger cracks than originally and pieces are falling out. I guess now I need to hire someone else and pay additional monies.

Yesterday the crew was here for the recent job of removing concrete landing step ( which started to fall apart during the winter) and replacing it with a granite step.
