Wow. In one word, Pete and his team are RELENTLESS in solving a problem. I can't possibly recommend them more. We had a wild storm and a bolt of lightning found its way through our home (and myself, but that's another story). Nearly everything in the house with a circuit board was fried, including the A/C unit, furnace, zone control boards, and the physical air conditioner's contactor. Literally blown up! I called at 8am and Logan showed up three hours later. Basically, everything was busted or malfunctioning. Left was right, up was down, hot was cold. This lightning did a number on us. Seeing this mess, Logan called in for backup from Pete, the owner with decades of experience. Pete made it his mission to "hack" our system to making A/C for the night. It didn't seem too difficult for him, but you could tell he wasn't leaving until our baby daughter had A/C in her room (it's July). The next day, the men showed up with the replacement parts and a few hours later, we were back up and running 100%. They documented everything wonderfully for our insurance claim and even took a ton of time to chat and give me tips for the house we're building right now. I'll definitely have Pete come in and make sure the next house is configured properly. I'm sure there are other great HVAC services in southwest Austin and surrounding areas, but I won't need to find out. Pete's got my business no matter what. Thanks guys!! read more

Great, friendly and knowledgeable service! From the moment I called and spoke with Nancy I felt confident that this company knew what they were doing. Pete, the owner and his associate, showed up in his van (with their logo proudly displayed.) He introduced himself and spoke with my husband about our air conditioning issues. He knew right then and there the problems we were having. Both him and his associate spent over an hour cleaning out the system, keeping everything clean and neat. He even asked about our return filters and eagerly replacefor us with the filters we had on hand. We signed up for their maintenance program, which is a great deal!! I highly recommend this company and their wonderful service !! Wonderful family owned company that makes you feel secure with their service !!! Thank you Pete and Nancy keep up the great work !! So I knew our heater/air conditioning system was starting to fail when the fan would not stop running ! I called Nancy and she scheduled Pete to come out ! He tried everything, thinking it may be our Nest Control, he even replaced it with a New Honeywell Control. Nope, it was the AC/ Heater Unit !! Our home was built in 1994 so, that's understandable!! He ordered a Nee Unit and his Crew was there the very Next Day ! Christian and Joseph did Great Work and covered Everything!! Nice !! I'm So Impressed with this Company !! Great Service at Fair Prices !! Thank You Pete and Nancy ! read more

Wow is all I can say. The drain pan in my AC is badly rusted and clogged the drain that was going out of the pan. I called A-US Air and Lakeway Heating bot tell me I needed a new air handler for ~$3,100 When Pete came to give me a bid for an air handler, he asked if the drain was the only problem, which it was. He proceeded to fix the drain right on the spot while the rest of his team was waiting for him at another site. When I asked what I owed him, he said nothing! This is the type of company you want to do business with read more

Pete (and Nancy who does scheduling) are wonderful. They respect their customers time and money. Pete's work is great and fast. As he says with a smile, "I make it look easy," and that's why I pay for an expert like him to come by when there's any issues. I'm on their twice annual inspection program, which I consider a good deal for preventive maintenance on the most complex electro-mechanical system in my house. I've worked with a bunch of other Lakeway HVAC outfits that were half-baked. Tri-County is THE best. Thanks guys! read more

Great experience with Logan and Tri County Heating and Air. Air conditioning went out over the weekend, and called first thing Monday am. I was able to speak with someone without leaving a message and within a few hours, Logan was there to diagnose and service the problem, which was a burned out capacitor. Problem fixed! read more

A power surge destroyed the fan motor of our AC system. Not a good thing in a Texas summer. Pete fit us in the next day. He had the part on his truck. All fixed. We love Pete. read more

Nancy, Logan and Pete took great care of me. My AC stopped cooling in the heat of summer and they were able to send someone out with in 24 hours. At first it seemed that a part just needed to be replaced, but it turned out the entire condenser was shot. Not the best news to receive, but there was an option for interest free financing and the new condenser comes with a 10 year warranty and 2 complementary maintenance visits. Everyone I interacted with kind, polite and respectful. They were able to get me set up quickly and now I'm cool as a cucumber. Also, Pete and Nancy own the business so it's extra sweet to keep it in the local economy. read more

Pete, Nancy, and their company saved us thousands! After struggling to get our AC fixed thru a home warranty company for over a month, we decided to take care of it ourselves. We had 2 companies come out and give us quotes. The first company quoted us $6,000 more than Tri-County Heating & Air. They also said they would have to jack hammer our original Spanish tile and foundation to access a new path for a line set! Or we would have to install faux wood beams and run them the length of our living space. Neither option was very appealing, to say the least. Long story short, Pete came out and informed us that the problem had been wrongly diagnosed by the previous company. He talked about our options, and gave us a quote for a new more efficient system than previously quoted. He scheduled an appointment for my first available day. His crew of Robert and Chris showed up in the morning and worked thru the day to perform a very professional installation that did not involve a home remodel. Due to the age of my house and unique measurements, they had to put in some extra work to get the job done. Trust me guys, it did not go unappreciated. Thanks for everything guys! I highly recommend this company if you are in search of HVAC repairs. read more

Pete came after hours for NO EXTRA FEE on the same day I called! I was ready to pay extra for something (always is) and WOW there was nothing extra! WHAT? Unheard of with all my experiences! Can't wait to have a great night sleep with the cool air! Right back to you guys who didn't care enough to come until 4 days later! I contacted Tri-County last week at the recommendation of a trusted (and very particular) friend and because it is locally owned and operated. Owner Pete came personally to evaluate the duct repair issue in the basement that was my most pressing need. He was prompt in getting an estimate back to me and at my request included cleaning all the ducts in my 2,400 sq foot home in Central Austin, and also fogging the system. He and his associate made some dramatic corrections that I believe will really make a difference in how efficiently my HVAC performs. The firm handles commercial and residential HVAC projects. Good strong core values. Fair prices. Prompt service. Clean and thorough. Thanks, guys! read more

I have had a EXCEPTIONAL experience with Tri-County Heating & Air. The AC in my house was down & I had 3 different AC companies come out & look at the system. All 3 of them told me the AC unit was totaled & that I had to replace it with a new system. One of my neighbors suggested that I give Pete a call, which I did. He came out & took a look at my "totaled AC" & within hours he had it up & running again! His attention to detail was amazing. I also give him 5 STARS for his customer service skills! He has taken the time to explain the AC system to me & he has been just a phone call away if I have any questions or concerns about my system. The crew at Tri-county were also very helpful & competent, so I will certainly stick with these folks. If anyone needs some Heating & AC work&/or replacements done...I would give these guys a call. read more

We live very near this business and have read all of the outstanding reviews. In addition, a phone conversation back in the summer led me to want a proposal for replacing our AC and Heating system during this non busy season. I have called 3 times and hav never received a return call. I wonder if they are still in business...this is not at all what one would expect from reading the reviews. If there is an update to our experience, we will post it. read more

Pete (owner) showed up to an emergency call...that wasn't his emergency. I called with raining air ducts in my attic or so I thought, as it turned out, Pete identified it as a water heater issue. Did he walk off and say "not my problem" and collect a service call charge? Nope, he shut it off for me and stopped the leak . Now I didn't have an HVAC emergency today, but the day I do...I'm calling Tri County and write this so that you should too! read more

Tri-County should be your first call for any HVAC needs. Pete personally came out and inspected our two units for us. I appreciate his honesty and professionalism in an industry where some unethical practices take place day in and day out. Pete is a straight shooter who wont sell you anything you don't need. He gave an honest assessment and did top notch work for us. I would recommend Pete's business to any friend and family member. Thanks for the exceptional work, Pete! read more

So glad I called Pete to come look at some problems I was having with a smell in my air handler closet and keeping my upstairs cool. I had five other companies come out before I called TriCounty, and all of them told me that I needed to replace my whole system. Pete believed my system still had plenty of life, and showed me the things that needed to be replaced due to the previous owner's neglect. The repairs were done quickly and professionally. My a/c is running so much more efficient now! read more

Pete and Nancy are super nice people and really friendly to deal with. I had to replace all four of my HVAC units in my house in 2017. The final cost was just under $25,000. We immediately had problems with one of the units cooling properly and Pete came to the house repeatedly over the next year to try to make it work properly. Eventually, he determined he needed to reroute all of the ductwork on that unit and charged me exactly $1,500 to do so. This still didn't fix the problem so, after one year, Pete offered to completely replace the unit at no additional cost. He did so and we got two summers of acceptable operation out of the new unit. Last year, my house was hit by lightning and a couple of thermostats were malfunctioning. I emailed/texted Tri-County to set up a service call but they were completely unresponsive so I hired Air-Rite Heating & Cooling to do the repair. Then, in April of this year the new/replacement unit stopped cooling properly so I called Air-Rite again to service it. They added coolant and it worked, briefly. A month later (this May), the unit stopped cooling again. I called Air-Rite and they said the coil had failed and needed to be replaced. I spent $1,495 to replace the coil - on a two year old unit. One month later (June of "21), the unit froze up and ceased functioning. Air-Rite said the coil failed again and needed to be replaced again. I assumed there should be some warranty so I reached out to Tri-County and explained that all I wanted from them was the warranty information. Nancy responded, "We actually paid an additional $500 to do the extended warranty on that system. Let me get with that dealer rep and see what's up." Over the next month, I called, texted and emailed repeatedly asking only for the warranty information - nothing else. Totally unresponsive! They didn't even have the courtesy to make up an excuse like, "We don't have it" or "We can't find it." I should also add that when Air-Rite saw the ductwork that Pete did (and charged me $1,500 for) they commented that whoever did that work must not have been licensed. They try hard and put in the hours, but that's just not good enough if you really don't know what you're doing and aren't interested in providing even the most basic level of customer service. Sadly, I recommended Tri-County to three other people, all of whom used them and subsequently fired them. On a positive note, if you want exceptional service, I can't say enough good things about Air-Rite. read more

I was assigned to use Tri-County Heating and Air through the use of my home warranty. Having prior experience with other technicians from other companies in prior years, I can tell you Pete was helpful, gracious and accommodating. I appreciated that Pete came out to the house 4 times to resolve my AC's pressure switch from tripping. Upon it continuing to trip, Pete said he knew just the part I needed, and I didnt even have to be home for him to fix it. A day later the system released the excess pressure and briefly shut down again. I didnt really want to call him out a 5th time, so I waited. Upon getting a couple other companies to come out and bid a new system it was discovered that the wiring had been crossed to now not include the "pressure valve tripping mechanism ". The thought, if you dont include this, it will stop tripping and shutting down? Except that its there to protect the condenser and the unit, so had this not been found it would eventually cause the demise of my unit. I'm sure the warranty companies dont pay enough to make 4 visits worth it, but I disagree with how this was handled. read more

Writing a second review for Tri-County. A year after my heat went out, another issue occurred. So Pete came out again, quickly found out the problem, and fixed it right away. 5 star service both times. I also signed up for their twice-a-year service checkup (since it seems like my AC likes to go on the frets once a year now), which is the same price as for them coming out here one time. So that's totally worth it for my place. read more

Pete came by this morning for a tune-up on my heating system before the cold front comes in this weekend. His service and knowledge on the system was fantastic. He ended up finding an issue with the current capacitor that was currently in the system and was able to fix it on the spot with a replacement, but he also wanted to make sure I understood the problem and what was current capacitor was doing to the system. He also ran through the system with some tips to keep my systems in great running shape. I would definitely recommend Tri-County for anyone that not only has current issues with their HVAC system, but also for those just looking to get some preventative maintenance done. read more

Pete and Nancy were excellent! They were honest, prompt and the cost to fix our A/C was very reasonable. Pete was extremely nice and even educated me while he was training a new employee. In case you didn't know, if you have a coolant leak on your AC, squirt dish washing liquid all over the pipes and valves to find the leak! They had to order the part, but returned as soon as it was available to replace the broken valve. Thanks Tri-County Heating and AC! read more

Pete is excellent! Thanks for the good work. had to update this. My heater stopped working 2 weeks after the repair. Then i called multiple times but nobody ever responded. Not really recommended, still looking for better referral as pricing could have been more reasonable, considering the time spent and the refrigerant issue that was routine. Was told I could have been charged 2.5 hours of labor when the visit was less than an hour. read more

I highly recommend Tri-County Heating & Air Conditioning for ANY HVAC issue you may have - maintenance, repair, or replacement based on my experience. 1. I completed the form on their Web site and they called me right away - after normal business hours. 2. They made time to send a tech out the next day to inspect my upstairs AC unit that had quite working. I had a different AC guy out from Cedar Park prior and after charging me for 5 Lbs. of coolant and putting on a "kick-start," the unit quit. 3. Pete came out and after inspecting the non-working unit determined it was dead beyond repair. He also inspected my downstairs unit and determined that past AC repair guys had placed (and charged me for) unnecessary "kick-starts." He took them off indicating they are not needed and the unit ran better than it had in some time. (I suspect it was the kick-starts that caused the demise of my upstairs unit and that the coolant charged by the other guys was a ruse) 4. I decided to replace both units. After comparing pricing from 2 other vendors (sorry Pete!) I decided to purchase from Pete (yay for Pete!). I received a cheaper bid but the units were construction grade (don't let anyone tell you all HVAC units are the same) and the guys doing the install mainly did plumbing. I received a higher bid but the guy was kind of a know-it-all jerk and kept adding things to the quote that I didn't ask for. 5. The install team for Tri-County is absolutely top-notch. Very nice, very careful, and well orchestrated. A team of guys replaced both units (one in the attic and one in an upstairs closet) in a single morning - start to finish. They even took the time and care to blow out all the drain piping and reroute them at the units and on the exterior for better drainage. They also replaced all the exterior electrical and insulation materials - very well done. 6. They provided wireless thermostats so that we can monitor HVAC performance and change the settings from anywhere - at work or while traveling. I can't do without this now. 7. They have been back several times to adjust the units' performance and that has been a real comfort knowing they are operating properly. The only issue I am still working on is getting more return air to the upstairs unit. Heating and cooling a 2-story home is a challenge to begin with but my home, built in 2000 by DR Horton, was not designed with enough return air. After a hot day, when I kick both units on, the downstairs shoots down to 70 degrees in no time partly because much of the hot air is escaping to the upstairs. This means it takes longer to cool the upstairs down than I would prefer. Pete has a couple solutions for that and when we try them I'll let you know how they worked out in an updated post! I am VERY pleased with the product Tri-County recommended and the work performed by Pete and his crew! Stop shopping, avoid the scammers out there, and go with this company! They are honest and will treat you right! Ron read more

Tri-County installed AC and roof vents in my new house construction. Never completed either job and after two years or contacting them it is clear they never will. A few weeks ago my ac broke and it was after 5pm. I called my home warranty and they gave me a number to call for my ac. I asked do you think someone will be able to come out tonight and they said most likely not since it was after 5pm. So I called the number and of course it went to voicemail and the message said this mailbox is full and then disconnected me. I called Pete at Tri county and he was the only ac company that was willing to come out to my house at that hour. Pete was there for 3 hours trying to get my ac running at least for the night. Unfortunately my whole system was fried and could not be fixed that night. So Pete lent me a portable ac unit so my dogs and I could have some comfort until I can straighten everything thing out with the home warranty company. After speaking with the home warranty company with the assistance of Nancy, they approved Pete to do the job and he came out the very next day and installed my new ac unit. I want to say thank you to Pete, Nancy and their crew for being so professional and understanding with my heatwave crisis during the hottest week of the year. read more

Tri-County Heating and Air was the second company we called out to help us with our heating issues. Both of our units went out and we had wifi enabled thermostats that stopped working. They actually spent the time to work through the entire system, diagnose the issue and help us determine how to move forward. The other company simply told us we had "Fancy WiFi Thermostats" and then left. Tri-County was amazing and we will definitely keep using them in the future and refer them to anyone who needs help! read more

We were referred to Tri-County through another A/C company and we couldn't be happier with the experience! Pete came by bright and early on a Tuesday morning and walked us through every step of his analysis. We discovered that the previous owners of our unit had DIY'd the crap out of our AC unit in an effort to get it to stop leaking and finally the fix had worn out, what with the outside humidity. It took a couple more trips, and fabricating an entirely new drip pan, but Pete kept us in the loop and made us feel like his number one priority. He did everything in his power to make sure that it was working and wouldn't leave until we were comfortable with the result. When the unit started leaking again (he warned us this could happen) he answered his phone on a Friday night and was there by 10 AM the next morning and provided the final fix. He and his wife Nancy run a top-rate business! They're prompt, fair, informative and two of the most friendly individuals I've encountered in any field, not just home maintenance. We have found our A/C and heating company for the long haul. Thanks guys! read more

Pete is a 4-star AC guy who gets 5 stars for quality of work, effort, personality and general dedication to his work and doing a good job. I can definitely recommend him and you won't be disappointed with his work. The reason I say '4-star AC guy' is I've known a lot of expert AC men and some are more experienced troubleshooting full systems. He helped me out on what is almost certainly the hardest residential job in Lakeway. When 2 of the units didn't work right after the first call, he came back repeatedly to ensure the job got done right (at no additional cost or fees). You will not find someone who works harder or is more willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. read more

Pete from Tri-County came out to give us pricing on a new a/c unit after another company told us that ours had a leak and needed to be replaced. Rather than trying to sell us expensive new equipment off the bat, Pete offered to take a look at the unit (free of charge) to see where the leak was and determine whether repair was possible. Turns out, he was able to fix our unit for a heck of a lot cheaper than replacement would have been. Moreover, he explained every step in the repair process to me so that I understood what was being done and why. He was conscientious, respectful, and knowledgeable. I was assigned this company by my home warranty, Old Republic. I was promptly called and told that they would be out to fix my air conditioning the next day between 2-5. The next day I get a call at 10am stating that the technician was close by and he would be there in 20 minutes. I informed him that I wasn't home and I had set up my day so that I was available between 2 and 5. He told me that wouldn't work for him. He stated he was going to call his office for more direction. Ten minutes later I switched my schedule around to run home and be available. I texted this to him and in response he stated, "Your warranty company is sending another contractor call old Republican." That's it. Because I couldn't be there early and was planning on being there at the available time I have to wait for another company. Those of you in Texas know it's difficult to be without AC and now I have to wait another 5 days according to my home warranty company. Not cool Tri-County (pun intended). read more
