We were lucky to get a recommendation from our neighbor and friend for Mr. Dana Smith at Airtek Mechanical, BTW also a neighbor. We first chatted with Dana during one of our walks and he helped us understand the pros and cons of several systems, aside from the two large central HVAC units we currently had, including a central "ductless" system using the existing ducts, etc. Soon after Dana came over the house and took the time to go over all the details about what the job would entail. He needed 220/240V power outlets installed around the house with a disconnect and a 6" whip. Right away, we ran into the problem of Mini-splits components supply due to the COVID-19 world pandemic. We were willing to work with Dana and schedule installs as the equipment became available. We decided to only install each ductless unit when all the necessary parts were available. Gradually, over several months, Dana would call us to schedule installations as the different components were received from the supplier. Dana and his installer, Zach, would always come on time, do the job exactly as described in the quote and clean up afterwards. Dana was always gracious and accommodating when necessary. One of Dana's big assets is his vast and thorough knowledge and experience in the field of HVAC (Over the years, we had done our homework and read about and used mini-splits overseas). Dana and Zach worked through the heat and humidity of central Texas without complaint and with smiles. We highly recommend Dana at Airtek Electric. My last. 3 appointments with them in 2024 and 2025 were all canceled the day of or the day before. I was told things like "someone called in sick" which didn't make any sense to me. I also was told, as others were, that they were only doing urgent calls for months and no maintenance checks. Then suddenly overnight it was "you need to buy this and that" and "oh, your system will fail if you don't get this." I noticed people in my neighborhood starting to complain about them for the very first time. Whoever bought this company really got a gem and they completely ran it into the ground. It's sad .
