My high hopes for this beautiful restaurant located in a large Chinese pagoda were quickly dashed when I realized that most of the food was either semi-traditional or not traditional at all. I went with four other people so we ordered the family set which consisted of soup, egg rolls and four entrees to share. The egg drop soup that I selected was tasty enough but the various entrees left much to be desired. There was very little meat in the chicken lo mein and the cooked vegetables were greasy and underwhelming. Generally speaking, ALL of the dishes were greasy and synonymous in flavor. I expected the entrees to have a variety of flavor combinations authentic to the various regions of China but everything was covered in the same greasy brown sauce. We may have just ordered the wrong things but our first impression was not a good one. One highlight was that the waitstaff was very attentive and kind and the dishes did not take too long to arrive at our table. 4/10, I would try it again only if the tea duck is still on the menu! read more

Most underrated restaurant in the area, specifically the Lunch Specials. Where do they offer fabulous lunch specials for $9.99? No where in existence in 2026? Well not only are they reasonably priced they are phenomenal lunches. Shrimp with lobster sauce to die for. Tong chow pork, shrimp or chicken. And the shrimp are pretty nice, not popcorn shrimp. The service is always superb and the atmosphere with the Pagoda and Koi displays amongst a beautiful garden of decades old trees such as figs etc Trey Yuen has been around awhile so it's not bright and shiny and new, it's more like a well aged fine wine. But honestly? The bartender elevated the whole experience. Attentive without hovering, friendly without being over the top, and clearly experienced. We had the opportunity to go into the restaurant and eat and after my last review of take out food I needed to update the review. First Trey Yuen is stunning to eat at the atmosphere inside is amazing. Our server was gracious and helpful in helping us pick our dishes and they were amazing. I had the Hot Pepper Chicken and if you like spice ask them to pump up the heat with extra chilis. My wife had the shrimp and they were beautiful. All the food was fresh and amazing even the spring rolls were so fresh. Tommy came out and sat with us and shared pictures and stories about his family and this was such a surprise and we loved it. Ambience and wait staffers excellent as was the service. Appetizer plate was a total disappointment . Egg rolls sucked, fried won tons disappointment, ribs were awful, shrimp were way beyond bad. We came for our 30th anniversary dinner and had a fabulous time. Most Chinese restaurants have become storefront, take-out places. Trey Yuen is what we call a "sit-down place" - you can actually sit down and eat like a real restaurant. Very nice, calm atmosphere. The koi pond outside, the decor inside, cloth tablecloths and napkins, heavy silverware, all are very nice. Made for a great experience overall. Our server Amir was friendly and answered all our questions. He was very efficient and took good care of us without hovering over us constantly. The owner/chef came by our table a couple of times to check on us. Also very friendly and welcoming. I was impressed beyond words with the pot stickers! I have had a million of them over the years and these really stand out. They are larger and stuffed fuller than I usually find. Celebrated a great Father's Day with my husband and his adult kids. Nathan at the bar served fun cocktails with great conversation while we waited for them to arrive. Our waiter, Amir, set a table up for us in advance. He gave us the best service. So friendly and personable. This restaurant got so busy with huge tables and he still multitasked so well. We did get there for noon so we beat the crowd by a little. The food is always so good and the portions too large but perfect for leftovers! We started off with the Trey Yuen Platter with extra crabmeat Rangoon. The pecan honey chicken and pecan honey shrimp are kids' favorites, along with special fried rice and General Tso chicken too. They didn't have egg foo young this day (my husband's favorite), so he had the eggplant seafood special. I had the cashew chicken with extra cashews. Great value for sure, because you get at least two meals and a great time with family. The hostess in the beginning was so friendly and ensured we had a table for 6. The ambience is remarkable! It's an old school immersive homage to traditional Chinese decorative aesthetics, including the garden and pond outside. In its prime, it must have been absolutely enchanting. The drink menu featuring fog cutters, mai tais and other Polynesian-inspired libations suggests delayed updating in general. The Americanized Chinese style dishes are reliable and could benefit from an infusion of energy and enthusiasm. My mom and I came in Friday for lunch. This was my first time backorder Trey Yuen in at least 10 years. I informed the waitress I'm gluten intolerant, and there were several options to choose from. I opted for the steamed shrimp in lobster sauce (I was under the impression it was a white base and not brown). When they brought my food, there were wontons on top of the rice. I thought they were gluten free, and after one, the waitress came by to check on our food and told me not to eat it. Oops. (I paid for that mistake the following day.) There was also a spice or something in the brown sauce that didn't sit well with my mom or me. She had a brown-based dish as well, so we assume it was something in the sauce. All of that said, I'd still come back with a little more caution to my gluten issue (and I'd bring digestive enzymes). I'm happy to report their egg-flower (basically egg drop) soup is gluten free. The restaurant itself is beautiful with traditional decor and coy ponds. It's looked the same for at least 20 years. read more

After reading the reviews here I have to say I am astonished. The chefs/owners take pride in their work and the quality of the food. Since 1988 we have always had great service and food. Even when we take out. Yes. Prices are high everywhere but hoping they stabilize. Please take a chance and give them a try if you haven't lately. It's worth the risk. The decor from the outside with the fish in the pond to the details om the inside puts you right in China. It was my first time, joined some friends who spoke highly of the restaurant. The food presentation was really good. The food was fresh and delicious. My husband had to send his Mongolian chicken back because it was rather salty but the general tso was good. First time trying pot suckers...i think that's the name of it The service was good, we had a short wait qhwn we got there but they kept us informed. Went with a friend today. Very fancy interior. Really nice exterior as well: Statues, a waterfall, Koi Pond, etc. That was worth the trip. Didn't love the dish we ordered though. The name seems peaceful enough, Shrimp And Crawfish On A Cloud. Shrimp and crawfish (of course) over a bed of noodles with a Creamy sauce. Didn't expect a fried egg to be in the mix. GROSS. My friend said it was a traditional Chinese dish but I guess I'm not an egg fan. The smell was almost over powering when we lifted the cover. Don't judge on that though, my friend loved it. Trey Yuen has been around for at least 30 years and has stood the test of time. I love to walk in the to traditional decor, relaxed but still upscale atmosphere, and friendly faces! It is a refuge on any week night and a place to celebrate any weekend as well! Last stopped in on a week night and spent a wonderfully relaxing evening with friends! The drinks were made to perfection - perfect Old Fashion! The lettuce wraps were beautiful and perfect! It is soft shell crab season and that was not to pass up! The restaurant grounds are a total mess...overgrown w/weeds & the pond has green stagnant water. Nice ambiance inside & excellent service. I ordered Shrimp Kiew. Over many years I've had Trey Yuen food many times because of friends and co-workers of my other half had to eat Trey Yuen Chinese food. I grew up in a city with a China Town and my grandfather had a manufacturing business there. So... I know good from average and down from there. Trey Yuen out of kindness (because where it's located) is average. The Golden Wok near Walmart is far superior to me and the people that run it are top notch. Since we only do take out, I insist on Golden Wok. Sorry Charlie, but this 3 star rating is out of kindness! read more
