In the area from Los Angeles and was looking for some Chinese food to bring to my family. Went to Yelp and found China Kitchen. It was twelve miles out of my way, but I thought I would give it a try. Walked in and was greeted by the owner , Jennifer. She told me that she'd been in business for just over twenty years. I ordered over 70 dollars of food, mostly shrimp dishes (shrimp egg rolls, shrimp chow mein, shrimp chop suey, and shrimp fried rice). The food came out piping hot. Ordered take out and so many things were wrong with this food. 2 out of the 4 combos we ordered were incorrect. Maybe 3 were incorrect, but it was hard to tell. The only thing remotely correct was the sesame chicken. Szechuan chicken..failure. Mongolian beef...massive failure. Every order except for the sesame chicken was basically just meat + veggies + brown garlic sauce. It is not acceptable to give me garlic beef in place of Mongolian beef, or garlic chicken in place of Szechuan chicken. Also the eggrolls were not good and tasted old. Soups were passable. Fried rice was dry and lacked flavor. 2/10 experience, saved only by the fact that the brown garlic sauce was decent and edible, plus the sesame chicken was good. We've ordered from here at least 3 times, but this was probably our last. Another positive note though is that ordering was simple and the staff was pleasant. But man, that food. read more

I placed an order tonight for chicken chow mein and received chicken with vegetables. The person called me before hand to ask if I wanted mei fun or chow mein, and I wanted chow mein which is thick noodles. Then when I received it she told me I picked chow mein which to them doesn't have noodles. She said it says on their website the description so she wouldn't give me a refund and didn't have a driver to bring me something else. Overall, I think you should be giving a refund if your dish is different than what it is normally and you didn't explain that it didn't have noodles until I called a second time after receiving it. This could have been an easy fix of just refunding us but they would not do that. I understand you called a first time but it was asked if I wanted glass noodles or chow mein which in my mind I want chow mein the noodles not just chicken and veggies which is not chow mein. read more

It was delicious. My only complaint is I traded an eggroll and asked for a spring roll instead (and paid the extra dollar) and didn't receive it. This restaurant has different prices online. The lunch specials prices online says one thing, but when you pick up your food you are charged another fee. A higher fee. I am on a diet so I usually get the House Special Wonton Soup which is very good and filling! When I'm not dieting I like the Crab Ragoon and the Roast Pork Lo Mein. My husband usually gets the Spicy Triple Delight or the Singapore Noodles (which is great to try if you want to be adventurous). The old adage of getting what you pay for could not be more true when it comes to food The China Kitchen is clean and the staff are reasonably friendly, but the food is not very good. This might be the best Chinese restaurant in the Mandeville area that I have been to. The employees are very nice, the food is good and you can watch them make it.
