We have been looking for a good Chinese place here in Hammond and we found one! The China Wok is built around take out, service is fast and friendly! They only have about three tables to sit at and it's really quiet. They store supplies in the front and have a steady stream of people in and out. This is my go to quick take out Chinese restaurant. In 15 minutes or less I have freshly made and delicious food. The Honey Chicken and the Sweet and Sour Chicken meals are my favs. The egg rolls are also very good. The service is always friendly and helpful. The building itself is in a strip mall, and not fancy at all. The inside is small, with ample space to place orders and pick them up. Not a place to really sit and eat. Just ordered lunch. Before we ate our lunch I told my wife this counts as two visits - our first and last. This place is impossible to find. Must be a law in Hammond outlawing addresses on buildings. We ordered spring, shrimp, and pork rolls which were very hot, crispy, and tasty. I'm so glad that they weren't the standard restaurant supply house frozen variety. These were home made! The Mandarin chicken was more than generous, with yet another homemade sauce on top. So glad that it wasn't out of the jar! What a great treat after a day's driving and it was close to our hotel. We opted for their dinner special that included an egg roll. The egg roll was crisp and filled with flavor. The price was really a bargain at around $9. The meal, beef and broccoli, was really well done with fresh broccoli and thin slices of beef. The vegetables were fresh and really added to the meal. I've been getting take-out from here since they opened several years ago, when they provided an alternative to a well-known but declining-quality Chinese restaurant a few blocks away. Everything is generally a cut above the average Chinese take-out, and miles beyond those buffet places where everything tastes the same.
