As a frequent female patron from another country here on business... the bar waitstaff continually overlooks us. Maybe it's time for their long-term waitstaff to get a little PR training. Ps we have been here 1.5 hours. No one has asked if we need another wine, or anything. We have devoured a whole meal. WE ARE SEATED AT THE BAR WHERE THE WAITSTAFF IS. They pass us every 3 seconds . "Excuse me sir.. never seems to get their attention.. for another drink, for the extra plate we needed, or for the Wi-Fi code. If I can ever get their attention for the check ...this will be the last time in forever. Five of our colleagues went to another restaurant. I will definitely be there next time!!! read more

Very good food if you're in the mood for authentic German cuisine. You can't go wrong with the pig shank or the wiener schnitzel. Highly recommend the red sauerkraut. Good selection of beers. I know we were in Berlin but we had to try this place out while we were in town. Great service and cozy atmosphere.

After a few hours educating the kids about the farce of communism at the DDR Museum, we were quite hungry and virulently anti-communist. The best antidote to Marxist theory is schnitzel, beer, and capitalism. Treffpunkt Berlin offers all three of those things. The name means "Berlin Meeting Point" in German. Is there any better place to meet someone in Berlin than a place called Berlin Meeting Point? I think not. I'm partial to meeting in pubs because 20 years ago I met my wife in an Irish pub in France. It happens, people. At least it did before Tinder made you all nerds. The atmosphere is very similar to an Irish pub, except you can't understand the signs on the wall because they're in German, the beer is German, the bartender is German and speaks to you in German. Other than that - just like an Irish pub. I'm loath to use the word "gastropub", but they do have very good food. It's hearty fare - sausages, schnitzel, pork knuckles, more sausages, potatoes. It's the kind of stuff you would eat back when you didn't care about fat or calories because you were heading off to go hunting or plow fields. Service was very pleasant. The waiter tolerated my effort to speak German poorly. Instead of saying "Check, please!" I said what amounted to, "Please verify!" For future reference, a restaurant tab is a "rechnung" which is pronounced "resh-noong" slightly angrily. read more

The food was good. I had the fried meatball with fried potatoes and my husband had the bologna sausage and cabbage. The meatball was delicious! The exterior was nice and crisp with a fragrant and deliciously tender inside. The potatoes were fried with bacon, green onion, and I'm assuming lots of butter -because they were DIVINE! My husbands bologna sausage was very good -it tasted nothing like american bologna (if you were curious, I was) and his cabbage was cooked well. The portions were average. We, of course, washed it all down with lots of beer. The inside of the restaurant is not big, but waitstaff are friendly and the jukebox adds a fun bit of atmosphere. Bathroom downstairs. This is a nice pub real close to the Brandenburger Tor. The vibes were nice, mostly locals enjoying themselves. We got the currywurst and the chicken fricassee. The currywurst was standard, similar to something you could find in a stand, and the chicken fricassee was actually very tasty. The chicken part, anyway. I waited literally one hour for my food, and though the waiter apologized 50 minutes in, the chicken came out piping hot only to reveal the rice below it cold. That wasn't cool. It's clear from the remaining reviews that my experience may just be an outlier, so I do recommend trying it out and seeing for yourself. The waiter was very nice, and it wasn't his fault that the food didn't come out on time. read more

The concierge at our hotel recommended this place, and we were a little nervous about it because he said that it would be a bit touristy. Even though there were definitely tourists, we loved the place. We sat at the bar and the waiter was very nice. I had the meatballs with rice. The meatballs were amazing. Very soft and flavorful. They came with a cream caper sauce which I loved. The rice was fine, and the salad was overdressed. My friend got the pork knuckle with sauerkraut, which looked like a disaster when it came out, but it was out of this world. The pork was incredibly tender and seasoned perfectly. I usually hate sauerkraut, but this one was delicious. She got it with bread but said that she wished she had gotten boiled potatoes instead. We got the chocolate cake for dessert, but it was mediocre. Although the dessert wasn't worth it, the rest of the meal was amazing. read more

Nice, understated elegant restaurant with what appeared to be mainly local diners. We were told by some kind neighboring diners that we had chosen a lovely, typical Berlin restaurant. My Schweineschnitzel was good and my potato salad was okay as well. The Cabernet Merlot wine was fantastic and went perfectly with my spouses dish- Rindergulasch. We got into Berlin late on a weeknight and were looking for dinner that didn't require a reservation. Treffpunkt had the friendliest staff, English menus, and great beer. The Chicken Fricassee was delicious and the potato salad with the schnitzel was the best we've ever had. If you have room, try the apple strudel, it's worth it. They have a good selections of beer and drinks and it is a nice place to spend a rainy afternoon in November. NB, The crowd changes a bit when the afternoon turns to night. If you find Treffpunkt Berlin a bit quiet and low key here`s a little tip that will liven up the place: There`s a jukebox by the door and the selection on this one is priceless!! Pop 2 euros in the jukebox and randomly choose melodies after your familys birthdays. You`ll get all kinds of weird looks ;-) read more

The reviews that give a low rating for service just don't understand European service. My wife and I moved her in October and we found this place within a week. We are now regulars and if you really want a table I recommend calling ahead. Just call an hour before you come if you'd like. The staff is friendly, the owners are wonderful. The food is authentic and very good and also inexpensive. Desserts are lacking but the beer is fantastic. If you buy mixed drinks be prepared to pay but you will at any bar in Berlin. Beer is very inexpensive and drinks straight up are average. They speak great english and have menus in a variety of languages as well. You will find lots of tourist from all over the world but you will also find lots of locals who are regulars. Look for two Americans in our 40's when you are there and say hi. TIP: when you are ready have everyone close your menus and wave to the staff. Do not call the staff over if everyone at the table isn't ready. Germany staff will act impatient at any restaurant if you waste their time. read more

We walked in late on a Saturday night and were accommodated immediately. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We got our food quickly. My mom got the currywurst and potato salad and both were excellent. I got the beef stew with noodles. The dish was actually just dry, tough pieces of beef on a bed of noodles without sauce. The noodles were definitely undercooked. I'm not very picky but I ended up eating my mom's food because the beef was so dry it was actually difficult to swallow it. Great Schnitzel! Good thickness and golden brown on the outside. We got to try three different sauces. My favourite​ sauce for the schnitzel was the "Reisling Sauce" (That's what it sounded like out waitress called it.) Even though it went great with the schnitzel, I preferred the butter sauce for the potatoes. The place is known for its currywurst but it's schnitzel hits the mark too! read more

Our last night in Germany and we were looking for traditional German restaurant close to our hotel. I ordered schnitzel with pan fried potatoes. Schnitzel was good but the potatoes tasted like they had been cooked with bacon grease which I don't care for but most people probably like. My son chose to have the potato salad and that was ok. I like a more mustardy potato salad but that is just a personal preference. My daughter ordered the tomato soup, a good a creamy soup.The food is ok but the service was really good. I think this is the first restaurant we have been to in Germany where the waiters actually come check on you after the food has been served to make sure everything is ok. Definitely an anomaly in Europe. Price is average for this meal. Beers were good. read more

We ordered 2 main dishes and 4 beers (2 light beers and 2 dark beers) and asked if they had pretzels to sell. They said no. After I finished my food ( my husband was still eating), I went outside and bought pretzels to have with my beer. The waiter came to me and with an annoying tone said "you can not eat your pretzel here! You can go eat it outside, but not inside!". I had to drink my whole beer without anything else. The food was also overpriced. 12.75€ for chopped potatoes and a f w tomatos. I am annoyed with this restaurant. read more

Ok, hier nochmal auf deutsch: das Essen war nichts besonderes, die Bedienung war dreist, und der Preis war etwas hoch. Außerdem waren die getränke schweine teuer. Erläuterung: die Kellnerin brachte mir Bratkartoffeln mit Speck, und nachdem ich auch auf der Karte keinen Hinweis auf Speck fand gab ich den Teller zurück und verlangte einen anderen, da ich Speck ekelhaft finde. Anstatt einfach mir ein neues Gericht zu bringen, wurde die Bedienung frech, und behauptete, dass es doch 'traditionell' seie in Deutschland Speck in die Bratkartoffeln zu machen. Nun musste ich ernsthaft überlegen... Beide meiner Großmütter sind deutsch. Eine floh während des Krieges aus Ostpreußen, und die andere lebt heute noch in Wiesbaden, wo sie auch groß geworden ist. Ich esse nun seit über 20 Jahren 'traditionelle' deutsche Bratkartoffeln, zubereitet von meinen Großmüttern, meinem Vater und anderen Familienmitgliedern, und noch kein einziges mal war da Speck drin, was nicht heißen mag, daß irgendeine deutsche Bauerngemeinde irgendwann einmal so derartig viel Speck hatt, dass Sie es jedesmal in die Bratkartoffeln gefeuert haben, und dadurch eine 'tradition' begründet haben. Aber nein, das will ja keiner behaupten. Doch was ich behaupten möchte ist ganz einfach: auch wenn die Bedienung dieser Überzeugung war (die 'deutsche Tradition' so gut zu kennen), hätte sie dies einfach mal freundlichshalber für sich behalten können, und mir (dem Gast) einen neuen Teller ohne abfällige Kommentare bringen können. Von der persönlichen Beleidung mal abgesehen, das Essen war nichts besonderes, der Fisch hat auch nich besonders frisch geschmeckt, und die Preise waren ordentlich. read more

I can't tell if this place was a tourist trap or not but the stew and cabbage was pretty good. Prices aren't too shabby unless you get drinks. They offer menus in all languages possible. Overall the setting is more like a bar rather than a restaurant but the food was decent. read more
