So far so good! I'm an avid fan of going to coffee shops to get some work done and I'm always looking for good ~vibes~ and Tree Lounge definitely has them! Think intimate, indie artsy, calm, welcoming, and vibrant. I love the local art all around the walls for sale and the sense of community here. There are around 8 smaller tables inside and a covered patio with a couple of tables outdoors. There's also a larger table that has some games (e.g., chess, Connect Four), books, and coloring. The locals that come in here are a mix of young professionals getting some work in, young artists writing or drawing, and business-y types grabbing their cup of joe to-go. I'm so glad that Camarillo has a good coffee shop that I can spend some time in and recommend to others dropping in the area. During my visit, one of the local artists popped in and I got to watch their process of refreshing the wall with new pieces. I really enjoyed my iced hazelnut latte with oat milk, I don't have too much of a sweet tooth and this latte was not aggressively sweet. I saw that they carry Sugar & Grace Filipino desserts and was so stoked! I ended up ordering a pumpkin muffin that was perfect for Fall. Their specialty drink menu looks exciting and I'll have to come back to try the Mother Earth, Dark Mocha, and Ube latte next! Service was friendly and fast. Went to this coffee shop yesterday I don't usually frequent since I work in the area and it was on my way back home. The atmosphere was very cute and inviting so I thought I'd give it a try. The coffee was okay, but the biggest let down was the service. The slightly older gentleman, Ricky I believe, at the counter reeked of marijuana so bad you would think it was secreting from his pores. The way he spoke to the other employees was incredibly unprofessional, inappropriate and deplorable. The amount of cuss words I heard alone while waiting for my drink made me lose my appetite, and nobody around corrected or reprimanded him. Where is management and what happened to decorum? When in Old Town Camarillo, consider stopping in to Tree Lounge Coffee. We did just recently after receiving a recommendation for their Filipino baked goods, which are sometimes available. We scored ube crinkle cookies - so delicious and with perfect texture. I'd just had a large drink elsewhere, but Dear Hubby ordered an iced Americano. We enjoyed sitting out front on their covered patio, just relaxing and letting the world go by for a while on a Saturday afternoon. As an indy business, they embrace local artists. We've been in numerous times. Like the other reviews below, very unfriendly baristas, every time. Zero personality, which is a turn off at place that is supposed to be inviting and welcoming. Not a knock on the individuals but I wonder why they are not happy working there?. Old pastry selections and 10 minutes to make one latte and one drip is a little too long. I went to check this place out during my lunch break. The ambiance is lovely; they have tasteful local artwork on the walls, reading materials, checkers, and an area where you can draw if you so choose. The service was great, and the barista recommended the brown bear latte, which was excellent. It was sweet but not too sweet, and the flavors perfectly balanced the coffee. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the lack of gluten free options, so I couldn't get anything to eat. If they had a muffin or something, I would definitely have gotten one. I come here at least once a week because it's conveniently located and usually pretty quiet, which makes it a great spot to get work done. The coffee is consistently good, and while the pastry selection can be limited at times, what I've tried has been solid. That said, the staff experience really brings it down. Most interactions feel cold at best and borderline rude at worst. It often feels like you're interrupting them by placing an order. I've noticed they can be friendly with certain regulars, but for the most part, the vibe is unwelcoming. We don't need to be best friends, but basic courtesy can go a long way. Great coffee spot. We don't have anything else like this in town that strictly serves great, fun coffee and pastries. Only thing is a lot of people just sit around at tables even if they've finished their drinks which makes finding a seat hard during busy hours. Other thing is sometimes tables are a bit dirty. The Ube coffee cake and the Ube cold brew were amazing, but the girl at the register with the big glasses had a horrible attitude, we were the only ones in line to order, so her being stressed from it being busy wasn't an excuse. We gave it a second chance and came back the next day to arrive before 7am. At around 7:15am that same girl said she wasn't opening for another 20 mins even though the sign on the door said they open at 7am and on yelp it said the same, and again I was met with the same disgusting attitude. Myself and 3 other people walked off. The drinks were great but definitely won't be trying out this place anymore. The attitude was enough for me. Lovely local coffee shop! This place has high quality coffee, baked goods for sale from local bakers, and a vast array of artwork on the walls from local artists. They even have a little table dedicated to local businesses where people can put their cards and flyers. There's nice, subtle music playing in the background, so it would be a good study or work spot. There are also some games to play, my personal favorite being the massive Connect 4! I've come here a few times, but this most recent time I got a hot latte, an Italian macchiato, and a slice of the chocolate loaf for here. My latte was creamy and smooth and came in a very cute handmade mug. Their espresso is worlds above most coffee places! The chocolate loaf was pretty good, but it's quite sweet. My boyfriend must have liked the Italian macchiato because it was gone before I could even ask for a sip! This place is also on par with Starbucks prices, yet so much better quality!!! I first stopped by Tree Lounge a few weeks back. The coffee and bakery items were very good; however for that visit the staff wasn't very friendly. Decided to give it another try as I always like to give the benefit of the doubt and the second visit was better. I think the staff is still just adjusting to the new environment and maybe getting the hang of things. I ordered the iced lavender Oat-milk latte (a personal favorite) and it was delicious. I walked in there and no greeting and as I walked up to order, the guy barista still did not acknowledge our presence even when he looked at us, it was not busy at all. This location is already in a busy area which makes it a tad difficult to get to so getting service like that was wrong. Also when we got our drinks and empanadas, I said thank you and still nothing, we walked out and still... nothing. I've had a few different flavors here, and I can say they are carefully crafted with well thought out flavors. Unfortunately, that's where the positive aspect of this review ends. I've been here maybe 5-6 times and each time customer services is non-existent. From ignoring me as I come in when it's not busy (for example, 2 sitting drinking coffee while two staff members ignore me as I walk in without so much as a good morning) to constantly lacking major communication with prospective customers, this place is a customer service nightmare. My typical experience has been highlighted today as I wanted to stop in for a latte. I called about 20 mins before deciding to go, and no one answers the phone. I try to call because they are frequently out of the Ube flavoring but they never answer so it's always a gamble. I came in it was not busy, and it made no sense as to why the phone was being ignored. They said the ube was out and I mentioned I tried to call ahead to get this information but the staff were completely indifferent about the situation and said "sometimes we run out". Having something a simple as a basic conversation with staff is difficult because they simply make no effort with service and ignore customer points in conversation with standard "we just work here" type of responses. Further, I don't find $7 of value for each latte. While the taste is delicious, trying to charge more than Starbucks is crazy. What are we paying for? It seems that inflated case does not come with better service. Staff: It seems you either aren't morning people or customer service jobs aren't for you. Either ask for training or move on. TLDR Coffee good; staff not friendly nor problem solvers EDIT: To the owner; my review is reflective of my entire experience over 5-6 visits. The rudeness I've experienced has come both from you and your staff. The unresponsiveness extends beyond todays "Experience". They arrived when the gf and I were half way done with our coffees. The pastries looked good, but they are individual wrapped...no likey, but don't you want to have the case stocked and loaded for the morning rush / breakfast? * Then we witnessed shocking behavior by the lead person, who we found out was the owner. He spilt a new hot coffee on the serving counter, and all-over the floor. He came out with a rag and bucket. Proceeded to wipe up the coffee on the floor (under his shoe), then cleaned the counter with the same rag, then mopped. Because of the extreme chattiness, he was talking and talking, putting the rag back on the counter, and later, on a customer table. Not washing his hands, he touched his face, then the pastries, and headed back behind the counter. We couldn't believe it, and said something. Anyway, perhaps this will improve so that we can be assured of safe and clean environment/food/beverage, but I won't likely return until proven otherwise. read more
