Strawberry pastry and maple pecan pastry
Guido L.

A coworker told me about this place since I was going to be near North Park University. I didn't have time to sit down and eat so I ordered one each of their available pastries. I really enjoyed the cinnamon roll. The icing had a lemon flavor and there were raisins on the inside. The cardamom knot was pretty and tasty. The strawberry pastry was a little too sweet. The maple pecan bar taste like breakfast. It reminded me of pancakes with maple syrup. People were friendly and the prices seemed reasonable. I hope to get back for a sit down meal.

Its been awhile since I have been to Tre Kronor, but this is a hidden gem not far from my house! This is a true Swedish icon in the neighborhood that is full of hygge and fun. I happened to go on a pretty grey and cool Sunday morning so the theme really played out! I actually wasn't very hungry so I just wanted some pastries. I remember this place having good pastries and I was right! All of them were excellent. My mom got two and I got two. While they seemed pretty steep for $5+, they were fresh and filling. The only problem was that the cinnamon roll, something my mom ordered, had raisins in it. My mom is allergic to raisins, but we caught it before she ate it. We forgot to ask so its partially on us, but it was a disappointment to her because it looked so good. There were also so few raisins in there which makes me wonder why even bother. Either way, it was excellent. My favorite was actually the cardamom bread which had a great hint of sweetness, but wasn't overly sugary. My dad got the hash which he really liked with ketchup. Nice and crunchy as well which is a little different. If I was to say there were any drawbacks, I think the prices are a little higher for what you get size wise, but all the food was pretty spectacular. Also, this place doesn't do reservations so there might be a long line for a table. They don't really hurry anybody out which is great if you want to take in the hygge vibe, but is scary if you are the one waiting for a table. They do run a store across the street which is pretty cool and a good time waster while waiting. Will I be back? Of course! The onion soup sounds interesting so I might come especially for that!

Tre Kronor is a longstanding neighborhood gem in Albany Park. We always go for breakfast. All the food is always fresh and tasty, with options to suit both sweet and savory preferences. A great spot for a yummy breakfast and to catch up with family and friends. Service is always friendly! Tak for the consistently enjoyable experience.

A few years have gone by since I've been to Tre Kroner. Still quant and nice. I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll had a lemon glaze and raisins inside of it. It wasn't exactly what I was expecting but taking into account it is a Swedish restaurant I enjoyed it. I have to remember I am eating American/Swedish food. The corned beef hash and eggs were delicious. I enjoyed smearing my toast with the Apple Jam at the table. They serve more Swedish style sausages here and other types of food. Since I don't eat pork, I couldn't partake, but I always find something when I come in. The restaurant is quaint and still very homely. The service wasn't too bad either. I always enjoy my trips to Tre Kroner.

Tre Kronor is my personal hidden gem of the Chicagoland area! The dining room is bright and fills with the most perfect light in the morning. It truly feels like you're in a quaint B&B when you dine here. The service is top notch. We have always been seated quickly and served promptly. Your coffee mug will never run empty! I personally love the Anders Hash. It is the perfect amount of food and cooked to crispy perfection. I have also tried many of their quiches and have enjoyed them all! If you are looking for somewhere to treat yourself or a loved one to a beautiful, slow paced morning, Tre Kronor is the best place to start.

Thank you for the welcoming service! It's very cozy inside, that being said they were very helpful when we walked in with our toddler and infant stroller. The food is amazing. I highly recommend adding this to your stop in North Park.

We went recently to eat during their lunch hour. I got myself the Belgian waffle. The waffle was okay, wish it came while it was nice and crisp. The fruit were good and went well with the waffle. I wish they gave me my own syrup but instead I had to reach over to get a family member's syrup that came with their meal. The service was great she was very attentive with us and made sure we got what we needed or wanted. The ambiance is great! They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Lunch and breakfast menu is a bit limited items wise.

Highlight: Best hollandaise sauce I have had in a long time! Cozy warm little restaurant. We went for brunch and were seated right away in the busy main dining room. We ordered swedish pancakes to share as a group. I felt they were good and I liked the ligonberry jam as it added a unique tart flavor. They were thin and authentic of European pancakes. I ordered the eggs Benedict with spinach and found it very tasty! The hollandaise really made this meal above and beyond the rest was good. Service was good! They come around a lot to give coffee and water.

Found a new favorite breakfast place! Chicago is known to have a history with Swedish American population . Right next to North Park University is Tre Kronor, which very beautifully prepared Scandinavian dishes. Really digged the Anders Hash I had. Very tasty! Great service and a very cozy space that was great for a winter day! #swedish #scandanavian

This breakfast spot has a somewhat limited menu, but the food was good. I had the Vanilla & Orange French Toast, and my husband had Two Eggs, with Fried Potatoes, and Toast. Menu items are pretty straightforward but nicely executed. I'd love to see better coffee options though.

Very reasonably priced and perfectly portioned brunch plates (not too much, not too little). We tried two danishes, hash and eggs, orange French toast, house sausage, swedish meatballs and ice coffee. Everything was well prepared, flavorful and bright! The food was not heavy and was a total delightful way to start the day. The coffee was a bit more burnt than I like, but that's a personal preference. Service was super friendly and attentive! Decor is very cute and reminds me of a small town in Europe. I can see why this place is a neighborhood gem and why people would travel all the way from the suburbs to dine here.

I haven't been here in years but took a couple of friends yesterday. I love all things Scandinavian and this place is so cozy and cute. It was torrentially down pouring all day, so no sitting outdoors in their whimsical little garden. Try a pastry to start (Scandinavians love their sugar and black coffee). Be prepared to wait a little bit. This place is popular and cozy! Highly recommend their quiche for breakfast, Swedish pancakes, and meatballs, of course! Also, shout out to Roland, who was a wonderful server!

The space is warm and cozy. The outdoor area has a big fireplace and really makes you feel welcome. Service was friendly but unintrusive. The chefs explained each dish as they came out. The menu for the event was focused on lamb. Every dish had deep, crisp flavors. The consommé, for example, had this great combination of rich lamb flavor but also bright, crunchy peas. The chawanmushi was our favorite. Lots of different layers of textures and flavors. I'm glad we were able to attend this unique, one off menu. Hoping to go back for their regular menu someday.

Those of us from Los Angeles will think of our westside favorite Destroyer, and Elske delivers that in a Michelin setting. The juice pairing, extremely affordable at $30, was probably my favorite pairing at any restaurant. Definitely recommend the tasting menu, and the dessert, although I was too full by the end to add on any extras. I will say I came to Elske as a second dinner, after going to The Aviary and rushing through their atrocious tasting and drink menu. My stomach wasn't fully empty, and my patience was minimal after being forced to wait for five tiny bites at The Aviary for three hours, and I am quite impressed Elske was everything I was looking for to make the night a save. The interior of the restaurant is a cute homely Scandinavian home, complete with wooden sparse furniture like Ikea, and a huge outdoor fireplace that only further emphasizes the feeling of being "home". Service was phenomenal, and subtle, and leftovers get wrapped up in a cute giftbag-esque takeaway. Loved Elske, would definitely come back.

It's a matter of everything being no better than "just fine," with prices out of sync with the quality of the overall experience. I ordered the Svea special and a coffee. The Svea Special includes only two crêpes and a little bit of lingonberries. The crêpes themselves were fine, completely unremarkable with nothing to write home about or complain about. Ditto for the lingonberries, not mind-blowing, but also not bad. The coffee was also just fine, run-of-the-mill diner brew, shall we say. When it comes to the prices, the two crêpes with coffee and taxes cost just over $15. I understand that the price of pretty much everything has gone up, however, given what was on the table in front of me, I am not convinced the value proposition was there. Next, in terms of the service, it was also fine. Food came out quickly enough, and the order was taken in due course. To be fair, there was one other small group in the restaurant, and they walked in after my order had been placed. As for the vibe, I did like the use of blue and yellow, as well as the various Sweden-related decor, however, given the dim, harsh lighting, the vibe was less than inviting. Final verdict: Svea makes an OK product, in an OK spot, with OK service. However, everything combined at the prices they charge does not lead to an experience I care to repeat.
