You can find almost anything for the home at IKEA. It's not as cheap as it once was, but still pretty affordable, and for household basics, everything from furniture and cookware to dishes and bedding, to lighting and fake plants, it's a good place to start, especially if you want to see it in person. As a person with mobility issues, I increasingly dislike extremely large stores, but IKEA is the exception. Why? 1) there are elevators and escalators 2) there are plenty of places to sit down if I become fatigued, even if it's a model bed 3) I LOVE as someone using a cane that they have little carts to carry your tray on (try juggling an unevenly weighted cafeteria tray with one hand when your balance is already terrible and you will really appreciate this) 4) there are shortcuts so you don't have to walk the entire store if you don't need/want to/can't I was there today and I am glad to see that they have moved the Swedish marketplace area to a better location (it used to be basically past the registers, which didn't really work well). There's also seasonal stuff to look for such as the Advent Calendar at Christmastime. Overall, IKEA is a great place to start for household goods...or just to get your Swedish meatball fix! read more

Bring your walking shoes, but don't come hungry -- mainly because I don't really like the cafeteria but the ice cream is okay. There's also a new market area to walk through to purchase imported foods. I find it amazing how IKEA makes you feel like you need new everything when you visit. I try not to go with my kids because they want things they don't need like a plant pot, or tea light holder or a lamp. I visited recently for some silverware and the service was non existent. I couldn't find an employee anywhere. In the end I got the forks without spending extra on unnecessary things. read more

Completely unethical. They did not deliver $835 worth of merchandise on an order that was supposed to be delivered from this Bolingbrook store to my house. For months now, I have followed up to get this refunded. I have chat transcripts from 10 different agents and also spoke to many more on the phone all promising to handle this and get me my refund. They never did. I filed a dispute with my credit card and they submitted false evidence from other refunds I got for completely different returns. I am flabbergasted that such a large company whose products I used to love could be so unethical and steal money from loyal customers. Never again will I shop here. There are serious systemic unlawful practices going on. I may look into legal action, but I'm also so drained by how many hours they've made me fight to get back the money they stole from me. read more

My only complaint is how plain and sandy the mashed potatoes are, they're the only things I've had from Ikea that I dislike eating. I also recommend that you save yourself the $2 for a fountain drink because they're pretty lacking in my opinion. Wish I could give ZERO STARS. Terrible experience. Line was ridiculously long and moved very slow and this was at 2:00. Started with no clean silverware. Then desserts were mostly empty, specifically the gooey chocolate cake. Watched a couple employees stand and talk for a bit during all this not sure why they weren't busy restocking food. Purchases drinks for 3/4 of us and half the drinks did not work!!! Also only have one small drink dispenser area to accommodate everyone with drinks!!! I thought there used to be a better set up for the drinks so not sure why this was changed. Ridiculous for a busy location. Terrible experience and definitely won't be back anytime soon!! The food here reminded me of when I was in the military with the exception of even though they showed about 10 different choices of what you can eat. They only had one thing meatballs with mashed potatoes and peas. They were supposed to have two different kinds of fish they had none they had no other vegetables. They did have macaroni and cheese, so let's talk about the food. Absolutely no seasoning on anything whatsoever. The Lincoln berry was the star of the dish. It made everything sweet and it did taste pretty good by itself. The meatballs were very processed and that they reminded me of banquet or frozen meatballs. The mashed potatoes were not real potatoes at all it was Water tasted like water. No taste whatsoever were frozen peas were cooked. Everything was warm but again for the price they charge. It was crazy that people would actually wait that line for this stuff style but only one quarter of the food vans had actual food in them they weren't serving everything else. It was a total bust. It's filling enough, but don't come here intending to eat unless you really have to because you're so hungry from aimlessly walking around the giant maze that is Ikea for hours. To preface this I am not that big of a fan of ikea in general. I've been to this location a couple of times. Usually years in between my visits. Plenty of parking. Once you go up the escalator inside it's a madhouse. One of the things I can't stand is the free for all of parents letting their children run everywhere and jump/test out all of the furniture. Trying to maneuver through the crowds is one of the things that I don't like about the store. We were looking for a dresser and found one we liked. It said was available in multiple colors. Then when it came to picking out there was only the one color available. When it came to the line for checkout on my day of visit there were only 2 registers open. No joke took like 15 minutes to check out (at least, maybe longer). Cashier was friendly, but she could only do so much. When I left there was probably a good 30 people in each line. read more

We had lunch at the ikea cafe yesterday while shopping at ikea. Sitting in the cafe is always fun with colorful decor and nice views looking outside. We were very hungry and got a lot of food. We got the veggie balls platter - the veg balls were very flavorful and the gravy with it was good as well. It came with steamed vegetables and we got the lingonberry jam which is always our favorite. We also got the lemon crusted cod with mashed potatoes and peas. The cod was soo fresh and light. Flavor was amazing too! We also got the tea which is free for ikea family members. We also got the salmon plate with veggie medallion - so so good. And the fish was perfectly seasoned and flaky and fresh tasting. After a round of walking around, we got the strawberry vanilla swirl. Tbh I preferred the plain vanilla yogurt to this, plain vanilla is my favorite! Ikea cafe makes for a fun place to eat once in a while! read more

I actually came here to window shop because I've actually never been to an ikea in my entire life and it definitely was not my typical shopping experience. Like I had to go up an elevator through a maze of everything to get to the end. I know ikea is purposely designed like this too but literally this storm is full of brainstorming ideas for many rooms in my house and what I would want in my future man cave. The best part at the end of the journey you can find the discounted section and the food area that sells veggie dogs with chips and drinks for 4 bucks for the combo. Horrible shopping experience. Moved to the BACK of a line as if this were the year 1950. I can't say this was ALL staff however 1 staff member was very rude and as much as I don't want to say racist it really seemed like directing us to the end of the line was racially motivated. Coming to IKEA is always a fun time to me, and I often stop by their restaurant and grab a quick bite. Their entry setup is SO much better than one in Schaumburg. There's one (1) single entrance that leads to you to dessert, appetizers, hot entree, soup, and pastries. I like their princess marzipan cake. It isn't too sweet and perfectly portioned. If you're an IKEA family member, you can get free coffee and tea with re-fills (value of $1, as of 04/07/2018). I recommend to come in during non-lunch or non-dinner hours to avoid the crowd. Seating is plenty, but you can even get a few more cups of joe, get some work done, and even chill for a little bit if they are not busy. Most food items they offer in the restaurant can be purchased at their market near the exit. They added the Icee type of drinks at their exit cafe near the checkout counters. However, the line is always long. Since we were done shopping, both hubby and I just wanted to leave and moved on. Oh well, that was understandable, so perhaps we will give a try next time. read more

I trick my husband into going shopping by saying "Let's go get some Swedish meatballs." It works every time. I don't know much else about the hot food offered here because I literally only come for the meatballs, but honestly you don't need anything else. If you don't know, the restaurant/cafeteria is located upstairs. You queue in line with options for dessert first, then entrees, then rolls, soups, and salad. I usually pick up a cheesecake, then my meatballs with lingonberries of course (they're pretty similar to cranberries... I'm not convinced they aren't the same), a roll, a cup, and I scadattle to a table. My husband is always disappointed when he remembers that they don't offer Coke products, but he needs to drink less sugar anyway. They do however have an unusually variety of fruity sodas (think: flavored soda water) and a cola variation. I usually go with the pear soda. So if you can't tell... the meatballs are sooo good! They're never dried out and always have the perfect ratio of meatball to gravy and mashed potatoes. And if you are a fiend like me, you can add four more for a dollar, but the normal portion is actually a good amount. I did also mention I normally grab a cheesecake and I'll say they're really not memorable other than the fact that most days the fruit is still a little frozen, but I keep getting them because it feels like the right way to end a meal. And price wise it's all relatively inexpensive so it doesn't hurt my heart to pay to eat something that's just okay. Outside of the kids drop off area downstairs, there is a play place upstairs in the restaurant too... you just have to watch your own kids. The area surprisingly stays clean and it's all pretty open so you can sit just about anywhere if you have the kiddos along. The broccoli cheddar soup is for sure not worth getting. They had no more salads left even though it was 6 pm on a Saturday. But most importantly the portions are really small. There are more than 5 kid's meals and many families eat here. Hence the super noisy restaurant. A big lunch with pastry and coffee is $9 US. That's a good deal. read more

Always happy at IKEA. Since we were gonna spend more than $100 on household items we decided to go all out on at the restaurant and try some new stuff in addition to stuff we always get. Good tip, you get the amount of your restaurant bill off of your ikea bill if the ikea bill is over $100. So we ordered our standards gravaux lax (cured raw salmon) and meatballs. Those were great as usual. Also snagged the newer veggie balls which were bland. The white bean soup was not that good either. We did enjoy the smoked salmon and veggies a lot. Finally the lingonberry juice was perfect. And my husband enjoyed his free coffee. This review is specifically for their kitchen services. If you are planning on working with Ikea to remodel your kitchen, don't do it! I unfortunately had a bad experience with one associate named Jonathon, and it just soured my whole experience with them. Also, I paid for their installers to come measure, and I get there, and the designer starts complaining about the measurements! Saying that it did not make sense. After spending three hours (!) with the designer, I finally get a design, which he then could not send to me digitally for who knows what reason. There was one space left that I needed to make a decision on, and after talking to three different kitchen associates and being told that I didn't need an appointment if I was just going to make a change to the design, I decided to go in only to be met by Jonathon who essentially didn't care that three of his colleagues had told me that I could come in to make a design change. He said he was alone (even though there was someone else there working with a customer), and that he couldn't help me because the change was going to affect more than one cabinet. Of course none of this was explained to me by the three other people who I spoke with so it just seemed like he was making things up or was, for whatever reason, not willing to help me? Because I'm Asian? Just makes you wonder sometimes why you seem to be singled out and treated poorly. It wasn't as if there was a line of customers waiting to be helped! Maybe he needed to check his personal email? God forbid he actually do his job and help a customer! Also, check out the complaints against Traemand on the better business bureau's website.
