I'd like to be, under the sea, in an IKEA Octopus garden with you

You can find almost anything for the home at IKEA. It's not as cheap as it once was, but still pretty affordable, and for household basics, everything from furniture and cookware to dishes and bedding, to lighting and fake plants, it's a good place to start, especially if you want to see it in person. As a person with mobility issues, I increasingly dislike extremely large stores, but IKEA is the exception. Why? 1) there are elevators and escalators 2) there are plenty of places to sit down if I become fatigued, even if it's a model bed 3) I LOVE as someone using a cane that they have little carts to carry your tray on (try juggling an unevenly weighted cafeteria tray with one hand when your balance is already terrible and you will really appreciate this) 4) there are shortcuts so you don't have to walk the entire store if you don't need/want to/can't I was there today and I am glad to see that they have moved the Swedish marketplace area to a better location (it used to be basically past the registers, which didn't really work well). There's also seasonal stuff to look for such as the Advent Calendar at Christmastime. Overall, IKEA is a great place to start for household goods...or just to get your Swedish meatball fix!

Bring your walking shoes, but don't come hungry -- mainly because I don't really like the cafeteria but the ice cream is okay. There's also a new market area to walk through to purchase imported foods. I find it amazing how IKEA makes you feel like you need new everything when you visit. I try not to go with my kids because they want things they don't need like a plant pot, or tea light holder or a lamp. I visited recently for some silverware and the service was non existent. I couldn't find an employee anywhere. In the end I got the forks without spending extra on unnecessary things.

What started out as just a shopping trip turned into a lunch outing. It's been years since I've been to an IKEA and that long since I ate there in their cafeteria style restaurant. We decided to sample a couple things and I have to say my favorite was not the Swedish meatballs, but the salad with lox. Very fresh and outstanding that came with a little potato salad that was tasty as well.

I went to my local Ikea with my dad and sister to buy room decor and eat lunch. The food is consistently good. My only complaint is how plain and sandy the mashed potatoes are, they're the only things I've had from Ikea that I dislike eating. I also recommend that you save yourself the $2 for a fountain drink because they're pretty lacking in my opinion. Not much to comment on for their service because there's minimal interactions except for asking for your hot dish and paying.

Nice walk around the store checking out all of the tables, chairs and home accessories. In the market for something I can put together myself; not too many steps and EASY directions. Anyone looking for Jurassic World Dominion dinos; Ikea has all of them and at a great price. Although, I did not find what I was looking for, I did leave with something. Chicken meatballs and a peg board.

Meatballs were meh, nothing special. An order of those, texas toast, small salad, potato pancakes and a drink for $20 I thought was steep, especially considering how cheap the hot dogs are here. It's filling enough, but don't come here intending to eat unless you really have to because you're so hungry from aimlessly walking around the giant maze that is Ikea for hours. You order via a kiosk but the food came out quick. It was easy finding a table, although it was dirty.

What can I say just disappointed. I came to this place from Chicago for this dish. The mash was dry and the food on plate had no flavor, and the drinks don't get me started. Sparkling everything it's bad enough they took away the corn bread...but now the change in food.

We ordered at a self service kiosk and received our food very quick. If you are part of the IKEA family, make sure to input your information for a free coffee or tea. My boyfriend and I ordered the 8 piece meatballs, adult Mac & cheese, and a cup of fruit. I liked the meatball sauce and the lingonberry. This was the perfect amount for a small meal. Although, it's on the pricier end for the quantity received.

I have had two recent experiences with the IKEA Restaurant--one not so good and one okay. Two weekends ago, my teenaged daughter had a taste for IKEA meatballs after playing at the nearby arcade so we went over, but the restaurant was jam packed, the kiosks were not being shared in a timely manner, and the restaurant was out of everything, including the meatballs that she wanted. We ended up at a nearby chicken restaurant instead. I usually ask her to be ready to go at the store's opening so this was a new experience for me and I am honestly not sure if that is the norm for a weekend afternoon. Last weekend, I went by myself for an economical breakfast before hammering out errands and to see if the the market area had the frozen food my daughter was looking for. I ordered the medium breakfast which includes their pancakes with lingonberry jam, eggs, and bacon. I also ordered a side of the Swedish meatballs because it simply feels weird to eat at IKEA without eating a meatball. I also ordered a fountain drink because the lingonberry is delicious and feels healthy, a free coffee because I am an IKEA family member, and a slice of the mascarpone berry cake because I am an adult with free will and sometimes I need to do something out of the box so I don't feel suffocated by my usual routines, haha. The pancakes and jam were as delicious as I remembered. The eggs reminded me of the ones you get in a free hotel breakfast and needed ketchup for me to eat them for protein. The bacon wasn't as crispy as I would have liked, but the taste was there. The meatballs were on point. I was disappointed because the fountain drink machine dispensed exactly one cup of lingonberry juice before it stopped working. I enjoy fountain drinks because I can drink a lot of liquid--good thing I don't imbibe, haha. The coffee was surprisingly delicious and didn't even need a type of milk, which is good, because my non-dairy self didn't see any options available. I just added a little bit of sugar and sipped it with my coffee. The cake was not as good as I remember, it felt dry and basically disintegrated into a small plate of crumbs I wasn't quite sure how to eat in public. The tables are usually clean despite it being self-service and they have most everything you would need--silverware, honey mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce, etc. TL;DR--I would eat here if my daughter asked me for the meatballs, otherwise I would personally choose somewhere else.

Either way, I was excited to finally try this Chicago staple! It's definitely not a fancy brunch place, it's more casual and has kept its old character. Which was A-ok with me because we had great service and good food. But for example, don't expect espresso drinks here - they just have regular coffee. I appreciate that they are byob though, and their menu is extensive. A lot of fun Swedish offerings and classic American breakfast goodness - something for everyone and at reasonable prices. I ended up opting for the cheddar bacon potato pancakes, which were very yummy. Luckily, my friend chose the cinnamon rolls as one of her sides (comes with 2), so I was able to try one. I waited until the end of the meal to eat it, so it wasn't that warm or gooey anymore but it was still pretty scrumptious. Overall, a decent option if you're in the neighborhood and looking for a laid-back spot with homecooked comfort food.

I ordered two meals that were each supposed to come with cinnamon rolls - the item this place is famous for - and every single roll was missing. Four rolls total, none of them in the bag. The bag did arrive open, but my driver had thousands of deliveries and a near-perfect rating, so I don't think the rolls walked off on the way. This looks like a packing miss in the kitchen. The rest of the food was fine, but forgetting the signature item - on both meals - is a real accuracy problem. If you're ordering Ann Sather through DoorDash, check the bag before the driver leaves.
