Several of my coworkers & myself have stopped here to pick up donuts for the office. I gave a three star review because of the inconsistency in the pricing. I picked up a dozen donuts for around $27 then the following month I was charged 30 something. But a coworker went the following week later was charged $27. My friends and I stopped here from out of town and we were definitely impressed! I will say if you have never been here before it can be a little intimidating to go in, figure it all out and then order. The building isn't very big and there were a lot of people in there when we went inside. The staff as super friendly though! We got a few doughnuts and a couple of bagel sandwiches. I got this long John with angel cream that literally was to DIE for, I could have eaten 100 of these they were that good. The regular chocolate sprinkles was just okay but it was hard to beat the first one I tried. You do have to wait a little for your sandwich but it was definitely worth it and very fresh! I first learned of this business when they were in Oak Lawn under the name The Local Bagel Co. I am so excited to see that they are still operating, I missed their bagels, and of course I hunt them down. I saw on their Facebook page that they just started offering bagels here, and they have a deal until 6/7 on bagels. You can get 20% off 6 bagels with a tub of cream cheese or 20% off the baker's dozen with 2 tubs of cream cheese. I was a bit disappointed that they ran out of the jalapeño cheddar bagels on Saturday, but they still have plenty of other fun flavors like blueberry, egg, egg everything, everything, etc. The service was friendly, accurate and efficient. Beyond just bagels they also sell coffee and donuts. There's also plenty of free parking on premise. It's a grab and go business. These are the absolute best donuts in the west burbs. We drive about 25+ min round trip to get these rather than multiple other places that are closer for the fresh amazing taste. Favorites are apple fritter, angel cream, Boston cream, toasted coconut, and sugar twist. Tbh good thing I don't live closer because I'd definitely be eating these at an unhealthy frequency. We placed a special order for custom donuts for a 5yr old girl's birthday party one week in advance (Just regular donuts with pink frosting and sprinkles, her absolute favorite). The killer of this is that the party had a unicorn and doughnut theme, so the matching custom doughnuts were a big deal. Went to pick them up at the designated time and upon arrival, I am told that the doughnuts must've been given to another customer that morning and they just don't have them. While I'm very understanding of the fact that mistakes will happen, this situation was handled very poorly by the staff. There was zero sense of urgency when "looking" for the doughnuts and ultimately we were offered the same amount of "mixed doughnuts" which did not remedy this situation. Consider this a public service announcement to tread lightly if putting in any special order or placing your trust in this location. Didn't feel like they really cared at the end of the day and were not offered a more fitting solution to this problem (there was still a day left until the party so I find it hard to believe they couldn't make up the order in a 24hr period). At the end of the day, the employees need a lesson in problem resolution & customer service. Left the store feeling as if they really didn't care about the situation and there was a real lack of empathy here. They have an okay selection of donuts, but the ones in the back on the trays are hard to see because of the height of the glass counter upfront and the glare. Short people problems. Prices are higher than, say, Dunkin Donuts, but these are supposed to be a step above. Our donuts ranged from $1.50 to $2.25. There was only one table inside, but I don't think they want dine-in right now. We got a pink frosted, a cinnamon sugar twist, an angel cream long john, and a chocolate angel cream. My son seems to have enjoyed the pink frosted. My wife wasn't a big fan of the cinnamon twist, as it was more bread than donut. I had a bite and it was bready, but felt like good quality. The angel cream long john wasn't as good as Home Cut's in Joliet. The chocolate angel cream was pretty good; it looked amazing when I sliced it in half, but it turns out the cream pocket wasn't really that big, so the cream filling wasn't as copious as DeEtta's version. On a positive note, the donuts weren't greasy. Not bad overall, but not as amazing as I had hoped. 3.5 stars. read more
