Food looks no where close to any of their photos but still looks great. Packaging was nice and sealed. We got the burger, chicken sandwich and chi fries. Texture is great, looks great but no taste at all it's so surprisingly bland. Wendy's tastes far better which is surprising because everyone raves about this place. After reading a ton of reviews and recommendations, we finally got to try out Chi-Shack. First off, let me start by saying, the place was very clean and welcoming. The staff was friendly and patient while we ordered. They had quite a large menu and we had a hard time deciding. Unfortunately, we were not blown away by the actual food. Everything was just okay, nothing was terrific. I was planning on splitting a burger with my husband, but didn't realize it had chi-sauce on it, so he couldn't eat it. I think this is the first time I've ever had a cheese burger where the cheese wasn't melted. Not very appetizing. It all tasted like frozen food items that they threw in the fryer or on the griddle. Nothing was awesome or super satisfying. At one point my daughter even stated she was tired of chewing because she wasn't enjoying her chicken tenders. Overall, the staff and ambiance were a 10, but we wouldn't go back for the food. read more

Decided to give this place a try based on the reviews. The burger itself was very good minus the bacon. Bacon was very chewy and pretty awful. Onion rings were great, fries were ok. The burgers are delicious, I recommend the bacon cheeseburger. My son had the onion rings, they were crispy and good. They have donuts available also, and they are also delicious. Donuts....although they only have the Fri-Sun.... They have some of the best around. Their Boston crème and glazed are awesome! They put in a bunch of ordering kiosks which are way too complicated and unnecessary because the place is not that busy. Used to be very friendly with helpful employees. Nothing goes wrong at Chi-Shack! They know Chicago, and they do everything well! Am particularly fond of their pork chop sandwich.

The one star loss is the fact that I didn't get what I paid for which was the chi fries (the main reason I was there) but that's not going to stop me from going back. I do think chi-shack has figured out their fried chicken tenders and bites because it was seriously tasty !!! This is a nice option for a quick meal but the quality is better than your typical fast food. Chi-fries Maxwell Street pork chop sandwich Italian beef and sausage sandwich Jumbo chicken tenders Italian beef sandwich Chili cheese dog Chi-burger with cheese Two slight flaws though: 1) Their online ordering system doesn't necessarily allow you to order in advance. To provide a bit more context, we placed an online order after 9pm for the following morning's pick-up. When I arrived to pick up, my order was not ready because they were not aware of my order as their system doesn't actually take orders after the restaurant closes at 9pm even though I received an electronic receipt and my credit card was charged. It is a bit bizarre but it wasn't a big deal. I ended up having to wait 20 minutes for them to make my order and they gave me complimentary donuts for the confusion and extra wait. 2) Be sure to double check your food before leaving. We ordered an Italian beef and sausage sandwich and we didn't realize they had forgotten the sausage until we arrived home. We called to notify them of the mistake and they indicated they cannot give us a partial refund because we placed an online order. However, they would be willing to give us a complimentary sandwich if we were to return the day of or the following day. It was a nice gesture but it was a short time range and a bit of a hassle to make the trip. Flaws are inevitable but Chi Shack was quick to react when the situation was brought to them.
