Mr. Sub is one of my go-to sandwich spots! The turkey sandwich is my favorite and I just love the mayo they put on it. Not sure if they make it and it's their own, but it tastes so good! Their prices are decent for what you get. I just wish they would put a little more meat on the sandwiches. I have noticed that they have been using less meat and the prices have gone up quite a bit, which I get because of the horrible inflation. If they at least added a little bit more meat, that would be 5 star worthy. Overall though, good subs!

I have given this place so many chances and today... I am officially DONE with eating there... I have ignored going there, sitting in the drive thru & no one shows up, I've ignored ppl at the window with gloves on..taking your money, then fixing food with the SAME gloves (I know.. GROSS) the list goes on.. I was about to ignore the fact that I ordered an Italian beef , dipped well, got home and it was as dry as a desert! .. what I cannot ignore is biting into the sandwich and feeling a weird texture in my mouth. I reach in and pull it out and it was a piece of plastic! I immediately spat everything out and sisnt eat another bite.. felt sick to my stomach! I am soooo done with this place unsanitary practices! I will take my leave before I end up getting some sort of virus!

    Mold!

1/8/22 This was my first and last time eating at this establishment,(Downers Grove) I am highly disgusted with the food service that I received! I ate majority of a molded sandwich without even noticing until I was almost done eating the whole sandwich. I thought maybe it was a difference in location why the sandwich tasted a little different from Bellwoods location that I frequently Dine at. I have been sick to my stomach all night and the next day!

    Veggie sub on wheat bread.

It is lunch time again. That means I try to eat healthy during this time of day. Look @ what I found: a veggie sub that is very good. Lots a veggies. You can get it old school (tomatoes, lettuce, onions, cheese, sauce) or with everything (add banana peppers, green peppers and cucumbers). You even have a wheat bread choice. Their fries and other sandwiches are very good, too. I recommend the grill chicken and gyro sub. Also, there is a guy that works there that REALLY makes a good sandwich. I love it when I see him there and makes my sandwich. Nice place and they treat me right there. Nice old school music (if you are into that kind of thing).

Amazing food anytime you want!! They're open late at night and the food is always hot and fresh. The food is delicious and something you will crave! Also you get so much food for the price! Definitely worth a visit!

    Dem garlic cheese fries.

My girlfriend had mentioned having gone to Mr. Subs a lot when she lived in the city. I heard legends of these garlic fries and since we moved close to one, it was time to give the suburban location a try. Place looks totally unassuming from the outside, just your average sub place. Prices are good typical subs are available, Italian, turkey, beef, etc., but they also have gyros, cheese steaks and stuff like that too. I opted for the Mr. Submarine which seemed like a solid choice. We also got the garlic cheese fries. The sandwich was good, lots o' meat and the king size is truly big, get that if you're super hungry. The bread is soft and hearty, it's from Turano Bakery, if that means anything to you. Now, let me tell you about these garlic cheese fries. This is a bold claim, but these are the best cheese fries on planet earth, probably the universe if I had a chance to compare. If you're a fan of garlicky stuff, this is like the glorious love-child of garlic bread and cheese fries. The cheese was like on every inch of fry and this magic pixie dust of garlickyness blanketed the whole thing. The sub was good, but I'm pretty sure I really just wanted to eat these as my dinner. If these had bacon on them, I'm pretty sure they would be violating some kind of obscenity laws, because these fries are so damn good. TLDR: Get them garlic cheese fries. They are so good you will wake up in the middle of the night in a cold sweat craving them.

Definitely the kind of place that's easy to stop into when you're looking for something simple and unfussy. We ordered the Italian beef with hot giardiniera and a garden salad. The standout for me was actually the bread--it was fresh, soft, and really elevated the sandwich. The beef itself was decent, but it was drier than I expected and didn't have as much flavor as I was hoping for. Thankfully, the hot giardiniera added some much-needed moisture and spice, which helped bring the sandwich together. The garden salad was very basic--just lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes--but the Italian dressing was excellent and packed with flavor. Sometimes a great dressing is all a simple salad needs. Overall, I enjoyed the experience and would come back, but next time I'd probably skip the Italian beef and try one of their deli sandwiches instead. Based on what I've heard and seen, that seems to be where Berto's really shines.

It was a solid 7, which is why I place it at 3.5 stars. I may be being picky here but it just wasn't to the level of "melt-in-your-mouth" pastrami standards for me. Not to say it wasn't good, because it was perfectly fine. In fact, it's better than most of the pastrami sandwiches I tried in Chicagoland. Maybe it's the fact that I had to bring it back to the office to eat it, and half hour had gone by and pastrami weren't as warm and the Jewish rye had become soggy by the time I took the first bite. I mean, it goes without saying that the sandwich would have been 3 times better had I sat down immediately and had it. Again, all things considered, it was a perfectly good sandwich. One interesting thing was that I had never been to an establishment that included a half sour pickle instead of a normal one and gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Pickles can be a hit or a miss for me. I like my pickles to be crunch, but some places offer overripened ones that become borderline mushy. Schmaltz's half sour pickle was not overly salty or sour, making it very attractive for me. The more I'm thinking about it, I'm convinced that I'll have to go back and try their #14 Sloppy Paul, which is the corned beef with sauerkraut, which is another favorite of mine. And this time, I'll be sure to dine in and give another review of it to see how much I like them better.

Maybe the bread wasn't fresh, the lunch meat tasted processed, or the quality just wasn't consistent. Tony & Tina's Deli is the first place that has truly become my go-to. I absolutely love their subs, especially the Brayden. I always order the large, and it's packed with so much fresh meat that I can give a generous portion of the turkey to my toddler as a snack and still have a full sandwich left for myself. That's saying something! Their potato salad is also outstanding. It tastes homemade, not like something scooped out of a mass-produced container. It's exactly the kind of potato salad you picture enjoying on a hot summer day. What really sets Tony & Tina's apart is the customer service. The owners genuinely care about their customers. I've only had one issue, and it wasn't even their fault. It was a delivery service problem. They personally responded and made sure everything was handled professionally and promptly.
