Ambiance is great. Drinks are great. The service is atrocious. We had a 9pm reservation that we didn't get seated until 20 mins later. Then we ordered drinks that took another 30 mins. We ordered appetizers that were nothing special. Then ordered wine for dinner that took forever to get. The pasta we ordered was not great either. I'd say this is a great place to come if you are excited about the view and want to get expensive drinks but nothing else is worth the price. Loved it all. Swanky place with a great view. Thought it would be higher up in the hotel but still perfect. Amazing service and loved our waiter, forgot his name- maybe Antonio? He was great and I loved his recs. We were debating the pesto dish or not and he really gave us good guidance about the pasta being made out of chestnuts so we stayed away from it. Short rib meatballs with the marinara sauce werw delicious. Focaccia bread melted in my mouth i could have had 4 more orders. Prosciutto and burrata were fresh and tasty. And we enjoyed both pasta! I've wanted to eat here for a while and as a good Chicago foodie I made the commitment. The commitment to set my alarm at 11:50pm and get ready to make my reservation at 12:00am 7 days in advance. And yes, It's worth the hype as Chicago's "it" restaurant at the moment. The decor is stunning, our server Ryan was outstanding explaining the menu and providing warm and attentive service. I'll begin this review by saying, believe the hype! I came on a Wednesday night, for my birthday dinner, and it did not disappoint. The food was 5/5, the ambiance was 5/5 (great views, beautifully decorated, and overall, just sexy); however, our waiter was the only reason this experience didn't get 10 across the board. He saw a group of women of color and immediately thought he can go 'sister girl' on us, not to mention how very condensing he was. I'll do him the favor and not state his name, but in the future, I think it's important to treat all patrons with the same respect and level of decorum. Now, back to the food. Sadly, I didn't take any pictures because we immediately indulged, but here are the items I ordered and can't wait to go back to get eveyrhing again: SCHIACCIATA BIANCA bread and the beef tartare for starters. My mouth waters just thinking of both. For the entree, I ordered the TAGLIATELLE AL RAGÙ pasta, along with the ribeye, which just melted in your mouth! I came to Tre Dita for my birthday dinner with my husband and from the moment we walked in the experience felt special. We were warmly greeted by the host who took our coats and made us feel really welcomed. The space is absolutely beautiful and so well designed. The only thing I was a little disappointed about was the pasta station. I was hoping to see someone making fresh pasta but there was no one there which kind of took away from the vibe. Besides that everything else made up for it. Our server Nina was so sweet and full of light. She gave amazing wine suggestions and really went out of her way to make the night feel special. When we sat down they offered us complimentary shots and even though my husband doesn't drink they brought him a non-alcoholic version so we could still toast together. That thoughtful gesture really stood out to me. The plain focaccia bread was really good. A bit salty but nothing too serious. The meatballs were incredible with the perfect texture and that crisp bread coating. My husband ordered the Pesce Spada Alla Ghiotta and really enjoyed it- I thought it was just ok. I had the NY Strip with potatoes and it was perfectly seasoned. The potatoes had a spicy kick that I loved. At one point I asked about a baby Guinness shot and Nina didn't know what it was but instead of brushing it off she looked it up with me and even found a bartender who knew how to make it. It came out perfect and I was so grateful for that extra effort. Overall I had such a great time and it was worth every dollar. I'd definitely come back. read more

It wasn't bad by any means but for the price you're paying I expect it to be better/more standout-ish. There are plenty of other Italian spots in the city with more flavorful dishes at a lower price point (but I would also be happy paying more for those dishes because they're tastier). But I will say the dessert torta Della nonna was fantastic and would definitely come back for that!! Drinks were upwards of $22 and again, regular cocktails with no special element. read more

Amazing Dinner! We were guests at the St. Regis for our anniversary and able to get a table for 2. The ambiance is a modern 1920s feel with wood, leather, velvet. It's definitely a nice design and a warm golden feeling. We tried the white focaccia bread, a nice salad, several different drinks from the specialty menu. The pastas here are superb! We had the linguini al limone. We wanted to try several items and the entire menu is made for sharing. Also tried the veal milanese and the ribeye. The steak is fantastic! Tre Dita absolutely made my night every time i foot in there. was dine dining room menu 2 times and bar couple of times. This place impressed me big time. and makes me fall in love with italian food again. been there for my b day. The second walk into dining room I got impressed by the stunning set up. But when then the food and drinks show up. it took whole experience to another level. I am always on diet so never had carbs for years. somehow I ordered the pasta. first bite I fall in love with it. I'd give 3.5 stars. I rounded down due to the general apathy I experienced from staff. My wife and I were excited to come here when we found out Funke's newest restaurant was opening a few weeks before a planned Chicago trip. Having recently eaten at Motherwolf and Felix, we had high expectations going in. Unfortunately we weren't able to get a reservation for 2 in the main dining room even after logging in right at midnight to make a reservation. We settled for a table at the bar. The setting is beautiful above the St. Regis facing the Chicago River. I was bummed they kept the drapes over all windows -- why not open at 8pm to enjoy the beautiful city nightscape?!? Unlike Funke's other restaurants, Tre Dita's menu is more Tuscan than Roman, which I didn't think would matter to me as much as it did. Not having pizzas on the menu was a major disappointment. For me the standouts were the apps: focaccia and polpette are must haves! Overall food was good, but service was not what I've experienced at his other restaurants. I would like to see if this is improved sitting in the main dining room. However, I'm not inclined to rush back. read more

Literally how can I leave this restaurant a 10 star review? We had such an amazing experience here! First and foremost, if you want a seat here for dinner, you'll literally have to wait up til midnight 7 days before and put in the reservations (or atleast that's what I had to do to get a decent time and boy was it worth it). You're first greeted by an amazing view of the city as soon as you walk in. You also get to walk past a small window where they show where the pasta is made. We got complimentary vermouth as soon as we sat down and it was so delicious I ended up ordering it for a drink. At this restaurant, you order everything all at once and they bring out the dishes as soon as they're ready. We had the gnocchi fritti for appetizer which was so flavorful. We then had the filet mignon and rigatoni for dinner. I honestly loved the steak the most!! It was probably the best steak I've had in the city, the meat was so tender and seasoned perfectly! The pasta was very heavy and I don't think I was as much of a fun of it as I was of the steak. The best part of the whole night was that our server brought us free dessert along with a postcard since we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. It was so so thoughtful! This lady was condescending for no reason & was smug for the duration of our dinner. I came here with some girlfriends to celebrate a birthday and Tre Dita not disappoint. Everything from the drinks to the appetizers to the dessert was exceptional. We ate family style, which is what they recommend. We started with the braised short rib meatballs, which were excellent. The meat was cooked perfectly, and the sauce brought out all of the flavors. We also started with the focaccia which was wonderfully, pillowy with a buttery delicious flavor. Our final appetizer was the fried gnocchi and I honestly could've eaten three plates of that myself. They gnocchi were cooked perfectly and the cream sauce was to die for. It seriously was so good. We shared a few pasta dishes as our main. I would highly recommend the linguine al lemon as I am huge lemon fan. The pasta was bright and perfectly balanced. The rigatoncini all'arrabbiata was also very good and had a nice kick. We finished with espresso and tiramisu which were amazing. The tiramisu is enough to share with 3-4 people so be prepared. The space was also really beautiful and the service was wonderful. Summary: pasta was good but outrageously priced and NOT worth the hype. The location is less-than-ideal given that the St Regis is basically in Lake Michigan (the hotel is crazy nice, though). Seating for our mid-week reservation was on-time and started with a drive by of the pasta making window. This seemed a little gimmicky and I felt like I was watching an inmate stamping license plates as opposed to chefs cranking out ravioli. Pricing--the first thing that hits you when they place a menu in your hands... We've been pretty loyal to Lettuce restaurants for years, but this was the first spot where I feel like they said eff-it we're just pushing our prices to the limits. The pastas weren't terribly priced, but any sort of protein was just incomprehensible--I'm talking $60-$80 for a chicken or veal dish. The steak side of the menu is just laughable. I saw another review comment on the nearly $300 Americanized attempt at a Florentine steak. Just put the $300 toward your flight to Italy and get one for $50--you won't even have to watch bros in suits at the table next to you order it medium. Finally on pricing, my pregnant wife ordered a phony Negroni which cost $16. We had just purchased some at Eataly for $5 each. We also got a glass of Diet Coke for $7. The food was good, not great. There's many solid, more easily accessible Italian spot in Chicago. Don't fall for the hype. Bonus: the most frustrating part of Tre Dita is that they have the audacity to add a 3.5% surcharge to the final bill to "help with rising costs." Are you kidding me? Do I have to explain the margin upside on a $7 diet coke to these bums? They do allow you to remove this charge so please ask your server--I unfortunately forget and am still kicking myself. read more

To start, the bar prepared the wrong drink for my wife and the server knowingly brought it to our table, then of course returned it to the bar. But rather than sit on the bartender, he simply resubmitted the order - we had to remind him to go get it. So, 30 mins (no exaggeration) to start our cocktails. Also, my Manhattan was served in small sherry glass, super sweet, surely light on the booze, not impressive. Also, the server put our food order in right away, so the food started arriving well before we even started our cocktails. Our wine was served decanted - and we realized after the fact that the Somme never showed us the bottle! I can only guess it meant they didn't have the year that we requested from the wine menu, but either way that is very poor form. For the most part the food was very good, especially the house made pastas. But my main - the pounded veal chop, was not only tasteless, it was served virtually raw. I didn't complain seeing as the evening was already a bust, but decided to take it home as leftover where I could finish cooking it. My wife really wanted to take home the leftover Spaghetti Vongole (which was delicious but heavy on the salt), but they never packed it into the leftover bag. Her filet mignon was perfectly prepared and delicious, but no sauces were offered to accompany it. My pasta dish was the Cacio de Pepe, and while the pasta itself was perfect, it was surprisingly very light on the pepper, so it missed on the main flavor event. They offered to bring a side of essentially grocery store pepper - but that's not how it's done (you heat up peppercorns before crushing them, that brings out the unique flavor). The ambiance was very dramatic, including 2-story floor-to-ceiling windows looking out across the river to glittering high rise apartment buildings in the area - very nice. But we noticed that the table seatings were designed for groups not individual couples. Indeed, my wife and were seated in a booth-chair combo set for 5. So, not recommended for intimate or romantic outings. In sum, given how hard it was to get a reservation, the effort and the wait wasn't worth it, unfortunately. read more
