Old rustic restaurant with plenty of locals. Love restaurants like this one. Food was good and would be great place to sit, eat, talk and drink lots of wine

Delicious and a must while in Florence! I had the melon with prosciutto, pasta with pork, and the smaller version of the florentine steak!

Very average pappardelle

This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. If I could give less than one star I would. Food was not good. Got a disappointing artichoke salad, tried to be optimistic after for the rest of our meal because we wanted to get some veggies in. Next course was the pappardelle ragu which was the best dish but still coming in very average. I cook a lot and I've made WAY better sauce that was more exciting than this. The veal Milanese was AWFUL, under-seasoned so I had to add salt to it and it was very dry. The table they put us at was right next to the kitchen which I was kind of excited for, they ended up breaking a plate and half swept the area so there was broken glass everywhere. Now for the service, I usually don't care if the service sucks but if the food is bad too, come on! We are Americans so I understand wanting to keep things local but I really wish they just turned us away since they were busy and didn't have any tables near the front. If you are a tourist, STAY AWAY. Our Airbnb host recommended this spot and I'm going to tell them the same thing as I wrote in this review. If you're the owner and you see this, just turn people away if you're going to give this poor of a performance. Kitchen should be ashamed of themselves too. Comical that this place is open. I live in San Francisco and I'm very aware that other cultures don't take service seriously but the food makes up for it. This was not the case. Maybe we ordered wrong but wow wish we gave up after the salad.

Price: 35€ for a Bistecca Fiorentina Highly Recommended (MUST GO!)... This Trattoria is across the river from the main town of Florence, so its a nice little walk from the main tourist attractions (thats one way to know its good). The service was not the best, however, from my experiences in Italy, it is normal to have to grab the cameriere's attention as they are busy taking orders and serving meals to different clients. The good thing is you don't feel rushed to order or finish your food, so you can enjoy and savor the meal. Prices are clearly stated on the menu and the ambiance is intimate, yet energetic. By energetic I mean, people are conversing and camerieri are constantly moving around. I skipped the antipasto here and jumped straight to the Secondo Piatto as I was in the mood to try an authentic Bistecca Fiorentina, and I must say I could not have stumbled upon a better trattoria. The cameriere brought the 1" thick T-Bone for me to look at before it was cooked (what a beautiful sight to see). Nicely marbled with a nice pink color and a thick fatty edge for flavor. When the steak was served it was nicely seared on the outside and cooked up to 1/4" along the perimeter of the steak with a juicy pink, but not raw center (perfectly cooked and juicy). Cutting through the steak was like cutting through butter and it was served warm, but not off the grill, so you know it had time to sit. The steak was more than enough and a great deal for the price and flavor (every piece of that steak was served, no skimping out). The leftover juices were ideal for dipping the bread aftwerwards. I ate the steak with a 375 ml bottle of DOCG Chianti Classico wine. There is no other way to eat a delicious steak. You MUST go to Trattoria de Carmine when you are in Florence. After dinner, we ate the Torta della Nonna. Best Torta della Nonna I have ever eaten. Not too sweet, not too tangy, and the texture and quantity of the cream filling was just right. It paired perfectly with an espresso doppio (I highly recommend dessert). NOTE: You must try this place and go with an empty stomach. It is worth every penny.

Had the tagliatelle with pecorino and fava beans and it was hands-down the best meal I've had in my life.

It's close enough to the lively, bustling part of Firenze to feel connected, yet just far enough to escape the city's never-ending wave of tourists. The service was incredible, and the owner (I'm pretty sure it was the owner?) brought so much energy that he single-handedly turned the whole place into an eclectic little spot during the "rush hour" of the evening. The menu was solid, if a bit "generic" at times. While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn't find elsewhere... and honestly, that's perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal. The pastas were really good as well, though one of the meat dishes had a slightly off texture, with the chunks of meat a bit overcooked. All in all, we loved our meal and would definitely recommend this spot if you're in Florence.

Osteria del Cinghiale quickly popped up on my radar, so I asked the concierge at our hotel to make us a reservation. It's clearly a very popular spot--when we arrived, there was already a line up at the door. The Mr. had the sirloin strip steak with roasted potatoes. I had the beef filet with Chianti sauce as well as roasted potatoes. Our steaks were cooked to a perfect medium rare and the potatoes were so satisfying. We shared an order of grilled vegetables and had a carafe of the house red which we enjoyed. In fact, we loved everything about our experience. The food, the vibe, the service was all amazing! For dessert, we shared the tiramisu and the strawberries with mascarpone cream. The tiramisu was the best we've ever tasted anywhere. In our two week's stay in Italy, this was one of our favorite meals of the trip! To avoid disappointment, please make a reservation.

It didn't start getting super busy until ~9pm - which is the usual Italian dining hour. We had the: *Prosciutto del Casentino - Le Selve di Vallolmo (Specialty Tuscan Ham of Free Range Grey Pork of Casentino, Tuscany (Slow Food Awarded Ingredients)) - MOVE OVER IBERICO. This was incredible - just melt in your mouth. You have to get this! *Ravioli di Peposo di Manzo al Burro e Timo (Ravioli Stuffed with Stewed Peppered Beef and Tossed in Butter and Thyme) - Peposo is a classic Tuscan dish that's usually tough cuts of meat cooked down in Chianti wine. Loved this 'twist' on a classic dish. They also so kindly split this portion for us which was perfect. The Peposo was perfection; if they just had Peposo as a dish, I'd order it! *Bistecca dell'Osteria (House Specialty Bone In Steak) - the star of the show!! While this isn't Chianni cattle or anything, this was fantastic piece of steak. Perfectly executed at medium rare. Love that the menu states "If you prefer your meat more so well done we would be happy to recommend another dish to you." Ha. Make sure you order a BOTTLE of wine! They have GREAT local options at super reasonable price points.

The bistecca looked amazing and large portion size from what I saw at other tables but didnt get to try that this time around.

From the moment we sat down, our server (Chaime) treated us with disdain. While the food itself was overly salty, the service was far worse: * Ignored for simple requests: We asked for water immediately upon being seated and followed up three times throughout the night. Despite ordering heavily--a steak, pasta, omelet, and salad (while surrounding tables shared a single dish)--we never received water during our dinner. We had to eat our entire meal with nothing to drink. * Clear bias: Tables seated long after us were given water immediately upon seating and had their orders taken well before us. * Neglect until the check: Water was only brought alongside the check, and even then, we had to ask separately for cups. When I calmly asked Chaime why our water took so long, especially given that a nearby table seated as we finished was served water right away, she told me to speak with the manager. However, when I attempted to explain the situation to her, Chaime immediately cut me off and began yelling at me. I never raised my voice once. Yet, as she was yelling, she taunted me, asking, "What tone? You gonna cry? Huh?" To be treated with such hostility and malice simply for asking about basic service is completely unacceptable. Management needs to address this server's hostile behavior immediately. Save your money and go somewhere where guests are treated with basic respect.
