Americans in Florence! You will need dinner! You will need reservations! EVERWHERE! Angiolino was a lucky find for a guy who is great at making reservations but decided to take one night off... in June, in a city full of tourists... not smart. Luckily we were at the wine hole down the way and Angiolino 13 was kind enough to fit us in. What a lucky break. Yes there are a lot of great restaurants that are on the radar in Florence, but this one is a little off the beaten track but still within the city center. Absolutely outstanding service, and absolutely outstanding food. Our first meal there was so good that we made reservations for our final night in Florence on the way out the door, and that night did not disappoint either. We tried multiple pastas and none disappointed. The osso bucco was amazing as well. A very well appointed wine list that I encourage everyone to take it advantage of as the prices, as you may have found by now in Italy are ridiculously low compared to back home, and not having a nightly bottle of wine with your dinner is a tremendous mistake. Service was fun and friendly, but be warned they don't like to waste time as they are busy all night long. When that menu hits your table, start going through it immediately lol. When I return to this fair city, we will definitely stop in for a third meal and possibly a fourth! The place is busy, loud and lively... what better way to celebrate your time in Florence!

Florence dinner spot was recommended by our Home Away host, Guglielmo - wonderful food! Although this is tucked away off the main waterway and won't give you a view of the river or cityscape, don't let that fool you if you enjoy an awesome meal! Personally for me, having a table near the kitchen was a prime location as I saw the Chef cook and make final plate presentations for EVERY main entree being served to guests ... yes he ensured they were all perfect! We shared Caprese with field greens and a fresh Baby Spinach salad with Parmigiano and balsamic, both were enough for 4 of us to have a nice sampling plate. But the highlight tonight were the main courses, Tagliatelle with Bolognese, Seafood Risotto special (one of best I've tasted), and Veal Milanese with fresh tomatoes. Wow, all were amazingly tasty, freshly prepared and served right from the kitchen the moment the dish was ready. My only disappointment was that I wanted a side of pasta and they did not let me order it to pair with my entree, perhaps taking away from the flavors and not complimenting the meat dish - I respect that but still would've liked an extra side. Nevertheless we had plenty of wonderful foods to eat! And of course the Vino de Casa Rosso was Merlot, very easy to drink, smooth and not too heavy. Overall service was professional, friendly and efficient. We'd definitely come back for another meal at Angiolino's. Enjoy!!!

Tremenda! Polenta fried and topped with meat sauce, portioned perfectly to not ruin the main meal! Al dente spaghetti cooked to perfection with bacon, fresh tomatoes... it's called chiantigiana...outta this world!! See you soon!

My husband and I dropped in on a Sunday night without checking Yelp first. Yelp should always be consulted. One order of bruschetta, the house white, truffle pasta, and steak rosemary later...disappointment. The steak was fatty with no seasoning. It had potatoes on the side but they were bland and dry. My pasta was covered with truffles - always an awesome sign, for me - but was doused in unseasoned butter. Very underwhelming. The house white wine was good but comes in half carafe for 7 euros. We wanted a bottle. Finally, the bruschetta was good but the bread was stale. I didn't think I could go wrong in Italy but, with the level being so high, I would not return here.

    Truffle pasta- SO good

This was our first meal in Florence, we found this trattoria by walking near our Airbnb and were at their door hungry right at opening for dinner. I think for that reason we were surrounded by a lot of tourists but it didn't matter much because it was good food! My spaghetti with arrabiatta sauce was spicy but good and my husband ordered pasta with real truffles and was impressed with how many he got for the price. It was all very fresh. We also ordered the eggplant appetizer which was really tasty! Service is on par with other restaurants in Florence, it was fast but not overly friendly but I think that's generally how places around here are. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others!

This place was advised by the concierge of the Portrait Firenze hotel. We wanted quality food and authentic. We were not disappointed. Everybody, adults and children loved their food. Only exception my wife didn't like so much their tiramisu. But the rest was great. You probably need a reservation, but that's a small price to pay to get great food.

Excellent service and equally excellent food. This is the kind of place out of a woody Allen movie. Interesting types here. Locals, and all the Americans here speak fluent Italian. No touristy tourists in this restaurant. And my glass of wine was always full:)

It's close enough to the lively, bustling part of Firenze to feel connected, yet just far enough to escape the city's never-ending wave of tourists. The service was incredible, and the owner (I'm pretty sure it was the owner?) brought so much energy that he single-handedly turned the whole place into an eclectic little spot during the "rush hour" of the evening. The menu was solid, if a bit "generic" at times. While everything we ordered was delicious, nothing at Trattoria Giovanni felt like a dish you couldn't find elsewhere... and honestly, that's perfectly fine! It was traditional, comforting, and exactly what we were craving. The plate of cured meats and cheese was phenomenal, a great start to the meal. The pastas were really good as well, though one of the meat dishes had a slightly off texture, with the chunks of meat a bit overcooked. All in all, we loved our meal and would definitely recommend this spot if you're in Florence.

On top of the pain of securing a reservation (they only take these over the phone; no online system), the only slot I could secure even as a solo diner was as soon as they opened, at 6pm, and via a bar seat. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted by several of the staff, all warm/kind. One of them offered me a table, even though I humbly mentioned I'd be fine with whatever was convenient to them. I looked around and saw what seemed to be majority American tourists so I had very standard expectations. Well, what commenced...my god. I'm getting chills now thinking about the entire experience. Just the absolute perfect dinner my first night in Florence. Everything on the menu looked fantastic and I was even tempted to order 2 Primi (pastas) but my server discouraged it, said they were quite large. Instead she guided towards the "must" appetizer, the "onion flan with pecorino cheese and truffle" followed by their signature pasta, "pappardelle with wild boar ragù" The appetizer literally brought me to tears as soon as I took a bite. I didn't think I liked truffle but this was life-changing. And the pasta was served piping hot and also to die for. I complemented the meal with a delicious glass of white and red and ended with the utterly divine tiramisu. I will be dreaming about this meal for years to come. So epic.

What a fun place to be! The food was absolutely amazing. When we saw them slicing the salami right in front of us, we decided to order the salami plate and we were so glad we did! The zucchini flower and saffron pasta was bursting with flavor and the pasta was so perfectly cooked. I couldn't get enough! The duck ragu pasta was also hearty, rich, and delicious. The sauce was so good, my family soaked up every last bit with our bread. The ricotta spinach ravioli was also amazing!! Again the sauce was such a standout. The ravioli was so fresh with the perfect amount of bite. The green pepper sauce steak was soooo good. Cooked perfectly, with such a unique sauce that the whole peppercorns added perfectly to in texture and spice. Finally, the raspberry tiramisu. We were so full, but when they set these down our dessert stomachs were ready. They were amazing! Not the strongest raspberry flavor, but still such a delicious end to the meal. Side note, you MUST have a reservation to eat here, and they only take reservations by call. Because I didn't have a way to call them, I asked my Airbnb hosts who did it for me (also amazing people). We had our hotel call for us when we checked in and were lucky to grab a 1:30 lunch slot on a Thursday afternoon. We saw the fat physical reservation book when we went, and also saw an attempted walk-in get turned away. We wanted to go for dinner, but I'm just glad we were able to get in at all. Vini e Vecchi Sapori was easily my favorite restaurant in Florence. I loved the cozy, vibrant dining room, snug and eclectically decorated. We were at a table so tiny, I worried about pulling a muscle when I crossed my legs. It was nestled amongst other tiny tables, and abutted a counter where plates were put out for service and the reservation book set down in its glory next to my husband's head. Service was warm, efficient, and attentive. Our waiter basically told what to order and we obeyed him, with excellent results. The one-page handwritten menu, helpfully available in English, presented the day's offerings and this preemptive list of disclaimers: No Pizza No Cappuccino No The Fork No Ice No Spritz No Ketchup FUCK CANCER There was a brief selection of Italian wines by the glass, and we got the Chianti Classico and the Bruno de Montalcino, both lovely. The food was delicious, starting with good bread and good olive oil. We ordered the mixed Tuscany salami and the beef carpaccio as appetizers, and they were both superb and not in the least bit redundant. There were four or five types of salami, every one of them fantastic, and I loved the thin, silky carpaccio, served with rucola, parmesan, olive oil, and black pepper. We shared two splendid pastas, spinach ricotta ravioli in a creamy rose tomato sauce and a hearty pappardelle with duck ragu. For dessert, we had the lush, irresistible raspberries tiramisu. I plan to come back to Florence one day, and will make a point of coming back to Vini e Vecchi Sapori. It's a special restaurant, the kind you hope to find in Italy, a welcoming place with lively ambiance and wonderful food.

The whole place felt like a low-end lunch diner -- not a charming Florentine restaurant. They were blasting Highway to the Danger Zone and I Wanna Dance with Somebody while the main restaurant -- the one I thought I had booked -- played soft Italian music that actually fit the fine dining experience. The contrast was insulting. I was dressed in an upscale outfit appropriate for a refined dinner, yet I was treated as though I didn't belong. It felt discriminatory and dismissive. To make matters worse, at the end they tried to pressure me into tipping on the card machine -- in Italy, where tipping isn't even customary. The vibe itself is cool (automatic door walking in, dungeon-like walls with cute decorations). Walking to your table you walk by a huge wine selection, which can be overwhelming. We started with the asparagus and peas salad. This was pretty solid, simple but it worked. We grabbed the spaghetti with the cream of asparagus-normally wouldn't order so much asparagus but this was the pasta that sounded the most interesting to us and we did ultimately end up enjoying the sauce quite a bit and it was one of the better pasta dishes we had in Italy. Got a side of the white beans which we probably didn't need but didn't mind. The steak: first of all it's very sizable. The Florentine way is rarer than I would ever order a steak and while I'm glad I tried it, I probably wouldn't choose it again. It's an interesting ordering process as you're essentially given the sizes they have left there for the night so you never know walking exactly how much you'll pay. I do appreciate that they cut it for you but I did feel like some of the meat was still on the bone (not that we really needed MORE meat I just didn't want to waste any). The flavoring is pretty good but there are definitely bites that are better than the others. The service was a bit mixed. There were times they were interested in talking with us while others they didn't seem so interested and a bit aloof. This was especially true when we went to check out. Ultimately, served its purpose in introducing us to a style of steak we hadn't had before and did so in a way that we enjoyed.

The Peposo was perfection; if they just had Peposo as a dish, I'd order it! *Bistecca dell'Osteria (House Specialty Bone In Steak) - the star of the show!! While this isn't Chianni cattle or anything, this was fantastic piece of steak. Perfectly executed at medium rare. Love that the menu states "If you prefer your meat more so well done we would be happy to recommend another dish to you." Ha. Make sure you order a BOTTLE of wine! They have GREAT local options at super reasonable price points.

Looking for a place to eat, found this gem and realized I wanted to try it. Everyone had told us…read moredinner reservations were a MUST here, but didn't think about it. Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I will 100% be back if I return to Florence!

What a maze of a restaurant, super interesting decor and set up. Such a cute restaurant with so…read moremany "rooms". Definitely can tell the old building and maybe they had expanded over the years. The service was amazing and the food delicious. This is one of the places that friends recommended and it's also on the list of many influencers. Tourist trappy, maybe. But the food was totally worth it. We were in the area around 4:30PM and decided to stop in, totally not expecting much as we didn't make a reservation but figured if they're open and not busy, why not give them a try. The most memorable dish we had was the appetizer we order - fried polenta with mushrooms and chicken liver pate, the polenta fried crispy, the mushrooms creamy and the chicken liver pate so smooth and savory. We also ordered 2 pasta dishes - wild boar sauce pappardelle and spaghetti alla carbonara. So tasty and with depth of flavors. Paired well with the house white wine we ordered as well. Definitely a spot you don't want to miss when in Florence.
