Family run business with delicious homemade food. Be patient with them when they're busy. They have great service, and were helpful when ordering. Second visit in three years and doesn't disappoint. It's a small narrow restaurant, cozy, and they served true Italian specialties. Delizioso!!

    Stuffed rabbit with delicious peas

This restaurant was a real treat. Beautiful ambiance and felt very authentic. No tourists (besides ourselves), which we always seek out and appreciate. The service was good, despite only having one server for the restaurant. The artichoke was very tasty, and was complemented well by the grilled polenta over chickpeas puree. House wine was tasty and did its job. We ordered the stuffed rabbit and the penne mushroom dish, both were delicious! The peas in both dishes were definitely the star of the show. Pasta sauce was a little salty, but still delicious. Would recommend this restaurant if you are visiting Florence.

One of the reasons I married my husband was his unrivaled ability to pick good restaurants for our date nights. Our last night in Florence was no exception. After a grueling walk up and down to Piazzale Michelangelo, we went to Hosteria del Bricco. My husband had made reservations, but we were the first guests of the evening (7pm is super early for dinner in Italy) and got seated immediately in the back. The menus and decor were all dusty and triggered my allergies, but I'm guessing that's part of the ambiance. Our meal was probably my favorite out of our entire Italian honeymoon. My husband got the porchetta (maialino) while I settled on the stewed beef with pepper sauce (peposo alla fornacina). Everything on the menu sounded amazing so it was a tough choice. The beef melted in my mouth, and the sauce had the perfect amount of spice. The porchetta was salty, complimenting the side of potatoes. It was a large amount of food. I think you could split 2 dishes between 3 people and save room for dessert. Service was friendly, and I like that all the staff members were dedicated to a smooth operation at this restaurant, remaining polite but not detracting from the main star of the show... The food. I was wine'd out by then, but they had a lengthy list. I'd definitely want to come back!

Panna cotta, not served every night but whatever they make for that day.

This has to be one of my favorite dinners in all of Italy! You do need to have a reservation beforehand and if you are lucky you can walk in. There is only a certain amount of tables a night, I believe so reserve if you can. The house wine is spectacular. The place is intimate with brick walls and eclectic artwork. The food I hear is from their grandmas special recipes. Note that this is a family business that is run by just themselves. There was one server the whole night who did a fantastic job! Absolutely in love with this place you won't be disappointed!

The food and service was amazing here. The waiter for so nice and the food was some of the best food we had on our trip. 100% recommendation this place!

Nice restaurant in the Oltrano close to the hotel David. Neighborhood restaurant and not touristy at all. We eat her every time we are in Florence. We always make a reservation but depending on the day of the week you may not need one. We came at 8 and it wasn't crowded. We had the house carafe of wine. You can't go wrong with that choice in any restaurant in Florence. It was another great meal, caprese salad, bread, pasta and a steak dish. I had chocolate cake for desert. The waiter also brought out complimentary grappa and lemoncello.

I came here with my bf after getting some recommendations from his friends. This place definitely hit the spot - it was perfect and exactly what I wanted for dinner! He and I shared some wine (can't remember which, but nothing fancy) and the peas as a side dish (which seemed an odd choice IMO, but were sooo good!). I ordered one of the pasta specials for my main dish, boar pasta. It was probably one of the best pasta meals I had during my trip to Northern Italy :) I don't speak much Italian, so I found the servers spoke kind of fast for me. However, my bf is from Italy - with him doing all the talking, there were no issues. From a service standpoint, there was nothing special. They were efficient and didn't really hang around or anything, but they were available when needed. Tip: Make a reservation to secure your table, if you can. By the time we left, it was packed so some people were turned away. Not sure when I'll be in Florence next time, but whenever that is, I would probably try to stop by here again :)

Our hotel had recommended this restaurant for us one evening and we are glad they did. Just a quick walk from our location, we found this beautiful family owned restaurant. We started the evening with a meat and cheese board and a caprese salad. The salami and cheeses were to die for and presented so elegantly. The entree I ordered was a pappardelle in a duck sauce, which was as extremely flavorful and delicious! This place was such an enjoyable experience and the family was so nice and accommodating. The inside decor and ambience felt like a true Florence dinner. I will definitely return if I ever get the chance :)

Great place!! We happen to be staying across the street. Has Yelp and Trip Advisor stickers all over the window. Very very nice owners. We spent about 2 hours there and he has a great selection of wine. Very great pricing. Glad we stopped here.

We were exhausted from our trip and too tired to walk far and discovered this little gem right next door to our Air BNB. Very friendly waiter with good recommendations. Cozy and inviting restaurant. Our dinner was very good especially the artichoke polenta appetizer, tagliatelle with duck sauce and spinach ricotta dumplings. I would definitely go back!

This is one of those hidden gems and doesn't get enough of the spotlight. We made reservations and were greeted cordially. The staff were very attentive and helpful and I cannot say enough about the food. We absolutely loved it!

We enjoyed our anniversary so much more because we came here! Away from the typical tourist area this is a perfect dinner before heading to the Piazzale Michelangelo for an amazing sunset view. I loved the antique charm and beautiful wine collection. Easily within my top Five restaurant experiences! We had amazing service and food with an extra special meeting with the artist who provided many of the artworks displayed in this beautiful restaurant. I haven't even mentioned the food which was amazing as well. The food by far met and exceeded expectations with all levels of flavor to offer!

Our first choice was the green peppercorns and Cognac cream covering a steak with rosemary potatoes. This was the best dishes of our 17 day excursion. The steak was perfect while the sauce was incredibly delicious. The steak with argula salad was our second choice. It was also savory and highly recommended. Back then, I ordered the Osso Buco, Lasagna, and Tiramisu--and I still remembered how incredible everything was. So, of course, when I returned nearly 10 years later, I had to order the same meals... and yes, I said meals! Fabrizio, the same server who took care of me in 2017, asked, "Are you sure you want two dinners?" I told him, "Yes! I want to try them both." Fast-forward to 2026: I walked back in two days ago, reminded Fabrizio of our conversation, and told him I was ordering both again. He immediately started laughing. Some things never change! My boyfriend ordered the pappardelle and instantly fell in love with it. We also shared a delicious cheese and meat platter and, of course, finished with Tiramisu. Nearly 10 years later, Pensavo Peggio still holds a special place in my heart. Highly recommend this cute little spot! Am I the only one that thought steak florentine was supposed to be served this way? Maybe that's was my mistake but I thought that's how it was prepared in Florence. Anyways, I was immediately suspicious when our waitress asked how we would like our steak cooked and her suggestions were medium or medium well. Uhhhh what? That goes against everything I believe in! The steak came out on a hot stone slab on top of a wooden box. The slab obviously continued to cook the steak so I immediately took off a few pieces to prevent this. The steak was thick and tender with chunks of large salt grains. It looked nice all sliced up but that's where the compliments end. It lacked flavor and ended up cooking to be more medium rare when I grabbed my pieces and then even medium by the time my dad grabbed his second slice. Our waitress seemed annoyed when we asked for the truffle sauce to accompany our steak (my dad forgot to ask for it when we placed our original order) and walked away with a huff to go grab it. The fries came out cold and limp with flavorless truffle shavings on top. I'm not sure why this place has such great reviews. Maybe it got too big for its britches and the quality has declined? The one saving grace was the crema bruciata! And the very understanding hostess who gladly pushed our reservation from 7:30 to 8:00pm due to travel difficulties.
