A trip to the Vatican and Museums led us to observe the sunset in the Vatican city and we strolled the streets to Rome in search of our dinner Knowing the menu would need to have a lot of local dishes to serve our party of four. The staff was swift, warm, welcoming attentive vibes, we opted to sit inside to get the benefits of AC on this hot summer evening. Drinks - Coke and Spirits with Lime - and lots of Acqua (Naturale) Orders of pizza and pasta were delivered - with a whole fish and a small salad. Everything was delicious and as always too much. Delighted with our visit we already shared the location with vacationers at our hotel. We'll be back. read more

I've been coming here for years and it's definitely one of my more reliable eateries in Rome. Lots of indoor or outdoor seating. Lots of neat antique ambience inside, old mirrors and posters and paraphernalia. They make a nice bucatini amatriciana and a most delicious and tender pepper filet steak. read more

I'm so glad I didn't listen to the reviews on this one. I saw that it only had 3 stars and was headstand to eat here, but my mom was hungry and wanted to take the chance. I honestly don't remember what I ordered as my entree but we split calamari as the appetizer before my mother ordered seafood pasta. The pasta was unbelievable. The calamari was fresh but could've used a bit more seasoning. All in all, I would definitely recommend checking this out if you're in the area. The reason for one star was based totally on service. Our waiter was so unprofessional-totally ignoring us, had to ask him for menus, had to ask him for plates, had to wait for drinks. The food was good. We all had pizza and the crust was very good as were the toppings. The ultimate joke was, as he gave us the bill, he said we could leave a cash tip. Stumbled upon this place after checking into our AirBnB. The owner/manager? was standing on the street trying to drum up business as folks were walking by. We stopped to look at the menu and decided to give it a shot. They touted themselves as having the best pizza. The pizza was good, but definitely not the best I had while in Rome. Our server was very good and attentive. The atmosphere was nice for our first night with tired and hungry kids. And the food we had was all prepared well and tasty. Definitely worth a stop if you wanted some place chill. read more

I should have read the yelp reviews prior to sitting down. It was packed so we assumed that meant good food. Absolutely not. Three people of our party of five didn't eat their meals. The pasta carbonara was salty and canned Mac and cheese that you boil tastes better. the lamb chops were very chewy / rubbery. We had a wonderful meal at this restaurant. We the pastas, all of which were served al dente and the lamb chops (perhaps a little thin on the meat but still prepared very well). The prosciutto and mozzarella was excellent. To finish, we had a tiramisu which was solid. Service was good but slow as they were packed. We found Trattoria Da Luigi on Trip Adviser and it had good reviews, so we walked across town to give it a try. (Trip Adviser did steer us to the wrong address, but that is not the restaurant's fault.) The food was mostly good, though nothing outstanding. We found several places in the piazza around the Pantheon that were much better. My primary complaint with the Trattoria Da Luigi is that their outdoor seating is right next to a busy street, so their was a lot of noise and exhaust smells. read more

Stopped here for lunch. This was the final day of our trip to Italy so we had several prior dining experiences to compare this to. The food was awesome. Cacio e pepe and Diavola pizza were delicious. The house wine was great as well (1 bottle for €10). My issue was with the service. We were never brought a bread basket despite all 6 tables around us receiving one. Our wine was not poured. Things were dropped on our table instead of being placed. We received short answers to all of our questions. I understand if this is a busy establishment, but several other non-American diners did not have the same service experience. I'm let down. We haven't encountered this behavior towards American tourists on our 2 weeks in Italy so far. Why ruin a good meal? read more

This is a great place for a truly authentic Italian meal. I had the cannelloni and my boyfriend had the lamb both of which were delicious, and so filling. This didn't mean we didn't have enough room for gellato and their white chocolate ice cream with coffee...I can't remember the exact name of it but it will forever remain in my dreams. I love that the staff call you Bella, the waiters are so funny and helpful and the food and service over all are really great. If you're ever in Rome I'd recommend this place for dinner! read more

Bizarre. The worst thing about this place wasn't even the terrible shrimp salad which made me feel sick for hours afterwards, but the obvious lack of ethical management of employees. I watched a 50-something man race around trying to service a dozen tables by himself, looking like he was about to have a heart attack. Meanwhile, someone who I'm assuming can only be the owner of the place, walked around with a smug smile and gathered even more customers, conversing casually with people, not bothering to get an extra pair of hands to help the old waiter. Never before have I been at a restaurant where I wanted to jump up and help the staff. I hope the manager learns to treat his employees better. The food was terrible and overpriced. Avocados were not fresh and I'm betting that the shrimps were too old, or otherwise not handled properly, which gave me food poisoning. Will never be dining here again. read more

I lived in Rome for a year, and when I visited 8 years later, stumbled upon this jewel by accident (checked into the hotel across the street late and was starving). My wife and I loved everything we tried on the menu - the lasagna and Caprese were fabulous, as was the house red wine (Montepulciano de Abruzzo). Sharon Stone's film crew, including several Italians, was dining next to us (but she didn't show for reasons unknown to the crew ). Order the seafood pasta and mussels with tomato sauce. Both dishes were really salty! A lot of the shellfish (mussels and clams) in the seafood pasta were just empty shells. The outdoor seating is plentiful. Was really turned off when the bill came and there was a €2 charge per person for bread...bread that we didn't order nor did we even eat it. Why should we pay for something that we didn't even order?!?! First place in Rome to charge for bread. Also, one of the owners was smoking and the ashes went up in the air as the waiter passed by with a pasta dish. Pretty sure there was extra "seasoning" on that dish. read more

Giuseppe and Gerardo, the owners, run a phenomenal business! Not only is the food fantastic, the service is the best you will find in Roma. I have been in Roma for a week and have eaten here 3 times and have not had a bad meal or bottle of wine! The restaurant is great for eating al fresco (outside) and only a couple of blocks from Vatican City. While the waiters do speak some English, they appreciate when you try to speak Italian to them too! read more
