I needed same day service due to a job and she accommodated my request even though it's not a service she was able to accept due to how busy of a Sunday it was. She was quick and completed my request. The clothes smelled great, they were folded so nicely! It is on a main road so you will have to street park if you're a drive away. There is always someone here watching the place, which is nice. The change machine helps with quarters, that is very helpful. The staff is nice. And place is clean, and the bathroom is clean as well. The washers are 19 minute each, and does a great job at drying from spinning. And the dryers are a lot bigger, which is 4 minute per quarter. It has great power to dry. They must be commercial dryers. When my load is light weight, it only takes about 16 minutes to dry. Sometimes i will do 20 minutes. The only thing is, if there is wifi, that will be better. read more

Our washing machine water lines froze in all the cold weather. So we packed up the kids and 5 loads of laundry to the laundromat. We were very warmly welcomed by the owners. They helped explain the machines and gave great pro tips to save money and time. The facility was super clean. All the machines worked well and fast. I highly recommend this place! I have been here twice and every time I've come, it has been an awesome facility. This laundromat is not dirty in anyway. In fact, it is very clean where the machines are nicely taken care of (with exception to one machine where there was a lot of this white strange lint all over the dryer). If you are planning to do your own laundry here, they have a little seating area where there are children's books. You can bring a book or do work at this waiting area. I wanted to wash my bedding so it was really convenient to take my stuff here because the have large machines that take about a 40 pound load. It costs about $5 in quarters to wash your laundry in the larger machines (about 30 minutes to wash). I forgot how much it cost to dry my bedding but do remember that it took about 50 minutes to an hour before it was finally done. The person working here was really helpful and gave me tips on how long and at what heat setting I should select. They have a bathroom inside that is nicely kept and very clean. The one negative aspect of this laundromat is that they don't have a service where the person working here can transfer the items from the washer to dryer. I've been to places where they offer this service for free. If you want to do a full service wash, it is very costly. Since my stuff weighed a lot, she quoted me $30 to do my laundry. I might as well stay there and do it myself. At least I could go to the local thrift store to look around while I waited for the stuff to dry. They have parking right in front so everything is really convenient. read more

Great little space! The man in charge was very kind and helpful. I needed to wash a huge comforter, so I needed one of the huge front loader washers, it was $5.50 and took 35 minutes. It takes quarters only and there is a change machine (taking up to $20 bills) inside. The dryers are by quarters. I got a half hour for about $2 or so. There isn't a whole lot of space, I kept having to squeeze up against the wall to let large people or people with carts go by - hence the only reason for 4 stars. Also bonus points for being right by a ton of breweries (like Lucky Envelope) so you can grab a quick beer while wait for your laundry ;) read more

COVID HOURS: Friday -Monday 6:30 to 6:00 Tuesday- Thursday 10:00 to 6:00 I work here and really enjoy the laundromat and the customers who come in. We always have good vibes and clean machines. Our small front load washers($3.50) take 19 minutes and the large dryers get it all done in about 30-40 minutes (around $2.00). We have 4 large capacity washers ($6.25) for bigger loads or heavy blankets/comforters. As with all businesses we require a mask to be here. We limit the number of people to five plus the attendant. I have been going to Transformation Surprise to do my laundry once a week for over a year now, and I love it. It's clean, the staff is always friendly and helpful but not chatty, and it's a comfy spot to hang out. This laundromat with their super fast, efficient washers has totally spoiled me. Now when I do laundry at someone's home I always feel impatient... why should the washer take more than 20 minutes? It's $2.50 for a wash, which might feel expensive but I find it's worth it for a 20 minute cycle and the overall experience. The bottom row of dryers is 6 minutes per quarter, the top is 5 minutes. I usually take 2-3 loads and walk out with clean, totally dry, folded laundry in an hour and 15 minutes. There's a clean bathroom, filtered water & cookies always available, a coin machine, a staff member to give change for large bills, and small packages of soap for purchase if you forget yours at home. read more

Hands down this is the nicest, cleanest, and friendliest laundromat that I've ever been to. They have extra large capacity washers that hold up to 40lbs of laundry. Just use two of these and you'll be done in a jiffy. I really like that you don't have to put a set amount of quarters in the dryer to get it started. I find that in 24 minutes (and 4 quarters) my laundry is almost always completely dry. They have a few folding areas and plenty of rolling baskets to make it easier to transition from the washers to the dryers. I've never seen a broken washer or dryer here. read more

Maybe I'll do a little less of the hanging-the-clothes-all-over-the-house schtick now that I've found the Transformation Surprise Laundromat... (My unique MIL apartment has a washer, but no drier.) Went there on dark, rainy night, and found the most comfy (except for bright florescent lighting), cute and neighborly laundromat I have ever seen. Choosing a seat while awaiting Dryness, I noticed an unattended cell phone, merrily charging away, while it's owner was busy elsewhere. Hmmm... you can say it's pricey, but having an (actually attentive) attendant there makes it safe and basically theft-proof. Flashback! : years ago, a young me with toddlers in tow. My brand new sheet set - a gift, yet! - was stolen from a drier while I folded another load and tended the tinys. That was indeed a surprise, but not a Transformation Surprise (that's the good kind). Love it, love it, love it! Makes me even prouder (than I already am) to be a Ballardite, Ballardian, Ballardette, whatever. read more

This laundromat is top notch! It was spotless and while I was there the owner even took out a mop and bucket to wash up the floors where people had just left. There are toys and books for kids, enough seating to accommodate a number of patrons and coin machine that actually works! I love it!!! read more

I have a small hair salon with no washer/dryer. I started taking my towels here instead of home to do them. These folks use bioclean so I get unscented towels. Plus they fold them! After experiencing a few mats in Seattle, this one by far takes the cake. I love using the industrial size washers for my bedding, or when I"m overdue for a laundry trip. I've never had a problem finding room, each trip generally goes quickly and I'm on my way. Free wi-fi helps with the wait, and the free use of the folding contraptions is the icing on the cake. Recently found that if you ask you can get quarter rolls instead of filling your pockets from the change machine. They also love to get the empty roll back to re-use. read more

I had some time on my hands after dropping off my cat at the vet in Shoreline, so thought I'd do some laundry. I ended up at Transformation Surprise and was indeed surprised. This is a laundromat? It's wonderful! I never thought I'd go to a zen laundry but this is it. It is spotlessly clean and tranquil, qualities I never see when I usually do laundry with screaming kids running around everywhere with no supervision. Not here. They have really homey looking furniture, and I appreciated being able to read this morning's Seattle Times that they had available, along with loads of other reading material. I had two large comforters to wash and used the large capacity washers. They are not cheap ($4.75 a load) but they did a great job. I used top load washers for the rest, which costs $2.00 a load at Transformation Surprise. They have 12 very large capacity dryers. This is not a huge laundromat by any means, but I was in and out of there in no time. The attendant was very nice and helpful, even holding the door for me on my way out. I only wish I lived closer so I could make this place my regular laundromat! read more

This place is all that and a bag of cookies. In fact, they even have cookies for you to snack on while waiting for your laundry. Another review complained that the front-load washers at $4.75 were expensive, but It's a steal considering what full-service cleaners charge for a comforter. The regular top-load washers are are $2.00. The dryers are huge and cost $0.25 for like 6 minutes--7 minutes if you are willing to bend over and use the bottom ones! There is an attendant who keeps the place tidy. Other pluses: free dryer sheets, free Wi-Fi (maybe theirs, maybe a neighbor's), and soothing music to cleanse your aura while you cleanse your laundry. There's street parking for about 5 cars out front on 8th, otherwise you're gonna have to lug your stuff from across the street or from one of the side streets. That's kind of a bummer sometimes because nothing says "I don't have my own washer-dryer" than carrying a laundry basket across a busy intersection. read more

I fully expected it to be overpriced and I have been to other laundromats where machines don't wash as well as they should. But their machines cleaned my comforters/quilts to perfect and it was under $20 to use three washing machines (including one extra large capacity machine) and three dryers. They have a change machine and sell single serve detergent & fabric softener. They always have a super friendly attendant on-site. read more

This place is the best and I'm glad I live a few blocks away. The nicest people I have ever encountered. The prices are up to par and sometimes cheaper than other but even if it wasn't, I'd still spend a bit more to support this local business. I've dropped laundry off there many times and have never been disappointed. I was running late one time and the lady waited for me for about 30 minutes after they closed so I can pick up my clothes. Because of the yelp reviews I drove here from Harborview Hospital to do my laundry. It was well worth the drive! The facility is extremely clean and the staff was very helpful. I also had no run ins with meth heads or other undesirables I read about at other laundromats. I also had two nice women who were working and didn't have to worry about the "micro managing douche" one reviewer spoke of. While our washer was being repaired, I took two 10 lb loads here to be washed, dried and folded. What a bargain! Not only are their prices great (about $16 for a large bag of laundry, priced by the lb.) but they are so warm and friendly. Great hours and customer service - they called as soon as it was ready. Easy to find parking north on 8th. It looked very well organized for doing your own laundry as well - big, bright, lots of machines and a comfortable place to hang out while you wait for your laundry to finish. Hopefully our washer won't go out again but I'd definitely come here again if it did! read more

Normally I would have ratted this place better. After going there for over a year, today I was turned away when I attempted to wash a coulpe of dog beds. Now, mind you these are the very same two dog beds I have washed numerous times over the last year or so. Not only was I turned away, but I wad LIED to by the supposed owner. So not only do they "not allow" people to wash their dogs' beds, but they LIE to their customers. Some how this attitude doesn't seem to coincide with their spiritual founder Sri Chimoy's teachings. I am only giving this place 3 stars because they don't have enough large capacity washing machines. I need a laundromat primarily to wash comforters - I have a washer / dryer in my apartment but it's too small for those to fit. Of the 3 large large capacity machines at Transformation Surprise, one is "reserved" for the attendant so that only leaves 2 for customers to use. Therefore, it's hard to get in early enough to use of these. Of the last three times I've been there, they were being used and I did not feel like waiting. This is coming in around 9am on a weekday. Sigh. It's too bad because this really is a very nice laundromat. It's clean, it's bright, it's cheery, and all the other reviewers have done a pretty good job of highlighting those features. If only they had more large capacity washing machines I could take great comfort in doing my comforters here. read more

The ladies who work here are constantly cleaning and if you ever have any questions, they are super friendly. I use the drop off service every few weeks. What a time saver! I'm never missing any clothes, and everything comes home clean, sorted, and folded SO perfectly (even the underwear) than I can just set them in my drawers with no fuss. And the long hours make it super convenient, I can drop off on my way to work and I know if I have an after-work obligation I can still pick up my clothes later in the evening.
