Despite being located within a charming neighborhood, this place is anything but. It's unkempt, everything is covered in dust, and the washing machines are extremely grimy on the outside. Makes one wonder what's growing on the inside of these machines... Will not return. I wish I took the time to go to Lunar Laundry instead. read more

We came over from capital hill. What an adorable neighborhood. They have great clean washers & a lovely ice cream shop In from that is a different owner. They have 20 minute cycles with a lovely cafe next door. The problem was don't open washers after you start them or your $ disappears. There is no one on duty. Another day the dryer ate 3 dollars. I text & was offered to be mailed a check for $7. That wasn't the customer service I expected. read more

Washing machines don't actually wash. And dryers don't actually dry. Washing machine ranges from $3.25 to $3.75. My clothes came out of the washing machine still dirty and some clothes were even partially dry still. The dryers are only 25 cents but they also only run for 5 min at a time. Change machine is broken. Market store nearby gives change but for a $4 fee. read more

I was forced to come back here today, on a Sunday. A trash family is using all but two washing machines, something other laundries have attendants present to prevent. Molly Moon's is closed and their small seating area they've been kind enough to allow me to use is closed as well, so I'm sitting outside. There are no seats inside. Avoid this laundromat if you can! I'd like to confirm many of the recent reviews. My apartment building's laundry was out of order, so I needed to find a laundromat. I chose this one because it's in a neighborhood with cute cafes, restaurants, and shops, and it has a fun, retro checkerboard linoleum floor. So I was expecting a cheerful little neighborhood laundromat. Nope. No, no, no, no, no. So wrong. 1) The place was squalid, and needlessly so. It's a small space - a quick sweep and mop probably wouldn't have taken more than 15 minutes. There was the dirt of muddy shoes tramping in and out on a rainy day, but there was also a much deeper grime. Beware dropping anything on the journey from washer to dryer! 2) The change machine wasn't able to provide change when I arrived at 9:30am on a Friday. I had brought some quarters, but ended up having to run two loads for the wash. (I didn't notice the two high-capacity washers at the back until later.) Luckily, a nearby store was willing to sell me a roll of quarters for a $2 premium. They said people coming to them for change was a chronic problem (hence the need for a service fee), so it clearly wasn't my bad luck. 3) Absolutely no space for packing up or sorting. Maybe the front window area used to have a table, but it's been repurposed as a mini Molly Moon's ice cream stand. Nor is there anywhere to sit. If you can plan it, go on a nice day. There's a small park with benches just down the street. Or you can go to the much-loved Hi-Spot Cafe, which is on the same block. 4) Very narrow space, so I imagine the choreography of shifting loads can get a bit difficult, especially with people hanging about on rainy and/or cold days. 5) An earlier review complained that there was only one rolling cart available. Ha! No such luck. No rolling carts were in evidence. When I returned to pick up my laundry at 10:30AM, an attendant/owner was jovially making change for everyone. Too late for me, however. And what explains the filth, in a place you sincerely hope to find clean, since it is a business devoted to cleanness? It's all the way on the other side of town so you might have to make a day trip out of it, but Lunar Laundry at 700 NW 65th in "Frelard" is the polar opposite - clean, well-run, provides seating, work spaces, and rolling carts. read more

They have 12 single load machines and 2 extra large load machines. If you came here to wash blankets or other large items then prepare to wait. Those 2 large machines are the only ones being used and there will be a line. The other 12 single load machines are good for about 2 towels. You are better off washing your laundry in the sink at home then coming here. Also, the place is filthy as many others have stated. The lint buildup is a concerning fire hazard read more

I arrived at 10 AM on a Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to see a four person crew cleaning the place top to bottom. They worked very efficiently and we're finished in about 10 minutes. This place is NASTY. It's filthy inside. I arrived at 7:10am to find trash all over a filthy floor. Tops of machines have liquid and powder detergent all over them. Change machine doesn't have coins. My washer is broken and I have a sick, semi potty training toddler. The machines just don't work. I spend well over 15 dollars. I tried doing an extra round on the dirtiest loads. I used oxy clean on all of the loads too. Still, the clothes came out stinky. Now I have smelly and wet clothes to deal with. read more

Great place to lose your money-- $3 right off the bat. Can't change the cycle after you've paid the machine (unlike any modern machine) which coincidentally then starts the load, so no changing from cold to hot once you pay. Pick your load before you pay it. They have some wonderful signage to let you know, very readable and clear, don't know how I missed it. The machines smelled moldy. The change machine gives Canadian quarters that then can't be used in the machine. No attendant to assist, have to call if you need help. No place to sit (go to the park a block away) It's in a nice area tho, not in the ghetto unlike the ones around, that's it's only charm. Sad to see Molly Moons affiliated with this place. read more

This laundry mat used to be impeccable. I have lived / worked in the area since 2005. Over the years i have used this laundry mat. But there has been a serious decline. We went to wash curtains and i was appalled. The floor was dirty the walls were covered in cob webs lint and dirt. There is no table or baskets to transfer laundry. The machines were not in good working order. It is a shame because this area deserves better. It wouldn't take much to clean. read more

The Madrona laundromat is clean with well maintained machines. The cost per machine is minimal and my clothes come out clean. It doesn't hurt that there's a Molly Moon attached to it so that you can have ice cream while you wait. This is a great laundromat. read more

Best laundromat I've been to in a long time. Sure, the floor had some trash on it, but overall a clean place. Machines worked well. Called the number on the wall and the manager/owner answered and addressed my question appropriately. Minus two stars because of cost and parking nearby stinks. Not fun to drag your clothes over a block. The Laundromat is clean, and the washers and dryers clean and dry clothes super fast. The good is that these machines are really quick and you can be in and out of there with multiple loads of laundry in no time. The bad is that the shop is filthy, filthy, filthy dirty and the last time I was there there was a homeless person in very dirty clothes close to passed out in the back of the store. When I mentioned this to one of the clerks serving ice cream in the front of the space, her response was, and I quote, "We don't judge." It feels as if the people who own this shop don't care about it at all or have very low standards. I was in town for new years eve/day and I scrambled through 2 other laundromats before I found this one. They were all closed, but madrona laundromat managed to open on mew years day and as a backpacker, I couldn't be happier. If only the ice cream portion was open! It looked so good. This laundry facility has washers machines for 3.00 a load and 5.00 a large load. the loads for 3.00 wont get your clothes clean so its better to do the super cycle for 3.50 a load,also better be ware of the large load machines because it will take your money with outdoing your load, and it wont return it for the load you just payed for , 2nd is always make sure you take your change because the change machine is always out of order and no stores or business around the laundry mate will break or trade for change. So if you ever decide to go to madrona's laundry mat come prepared I have come here four times and it is always with out change. read more

Madrona Laundromat is fine. The machines are circa 1970s front loaders with one larger load washer (that will always be in use when you visit - Murphy's law). There are 8 driers and some are way WAY too hot. I'm surprised there hasn't been a facility fire here based on the amount of lint caked to the bottom of some of these driers. The lint screens ARE NOT cleaned daily like the signs say so your clothes will have that "laundromat" odor. There's no WiFi or restroom available. The HiSpot Cafe and Naam Thai are next door if you're looking to kill some time by eating (or using a restroom). There is one change machine. read more

I don't typically use laundromats, I rarely find myself needing to but with my laundry backed up a bit too high and not wanting to wait around to finish 5 loads at home I came to Madrona. Not the cleanest but definitely not the dirtiest. The price about $4 a load, I can deal. Not quite the $1.25 I paid college but then again there were no side show acts, load phone conversations or people begging for cash. Just a neighborhood laundromat. While it may not be the cleanest place ever, it certainly gets the job done. The dryers are huge, so you can combine loads. The neighborhood is nice too, with a great coffee shop next door and a Molly Moon in the front part of the laundromat. The washers are a bit pricey and small unless you can nab one of the two massive washers in the corner. read more

This is a very small laundromat so you might show up and not find a washer. Also, parking is street parking only. I was so happy to find this in my neighborhood when our dryer broke.. The washer and dryer got things done quickly and did not cost too much. It's tricky to find the front door. read more

Convenient location for me but incredibly small and not very clean. The big washers are great for big things like comforters but today it ate coins without a feature to return the money. Something is wrong with machine #13. I looked everywhere for a number to call and get help but couldn't find it. Luckily the gentleman that maintains the laundromat came in and told me the coins get stuck often and that I needed to put them in better and slower. I chuckled and he fixed it by pounding it while I put in the rest of the coins it needed. I was able to leave with clean comforters so I was happy but if you use #13, now you know how to fix it. read more

This is a small laundromat with medium to very large machines that operate at a reasonable cost. They are quick and efficient. It's not the cleanest establishment but the machines do what they are supposed to do. Remember to bring your own quarters! The owner told us that the change machine is often empty because random people drop by and use the machine to get change. Bring your own quarters and you will be fine. read more
