Amazing stylists at Tram's Salon! I was greeted by David, who I could tell knew his stuff because HIS hair was so fabulous. I knew I was in good hands. Prior to my visit at Tram's, I had cut my hair at another salon the day before. And although it wasn't a bad hair cut, it just wasn't what I wanted. [BTW, I've learned from experience that if you want a good color/balayage.. yes, go to the millennial hair stylists. They are experts at their craft! BUT if you want a quality cut.. go to the modest, mom-n-pop hair salons/barbers! THEY KNOW THEIR STUFF! Case in point...] I have extremely thick and long asian hair. I never get my nails done but I feel like getting them done for my wedding was a must. I showed some pictures of what I wanted which was an ombré style with glitter and they told me I had to get acrylics if I wanted something with ombré. I'm not sure why? I felt ignored my whole time there. Nail tech #1 didn't say a word to me and had her headphones in the whole time. Then part way I was randomly moved to a different station without any explanation and nail tech #2 started working on my nails. And then tech #1 just sat on her phone. I know this Is stereotypical but it totally felt like they were talking about me. Again, never saying anything to me. I came here because of the good reviews and they seem to do a good job with a reasonable price, but with the experience I had that's not worth it. I came in today asking for 2 inches to be trimmed off. I was specific that I don't want any more and certainly not shoulder length. She trimmed 5 INCHES off my hair and it's now barely shoulder length. This is the shortest my hair has been as an adult. I look terrible with shorter hair in general as well as now I look like a 12 year old. I said it looked fine and hurried out so I wouldn't cry in the salon, but I am honestly really upset. Warning: ask for 1/2 of what you actually want taken off. It's going to take 5 months for my hair to grow out to the length I asked for today and by then, I'll be way overdue for a trim. They are very friendly and the last cut I got there was perfect. I guess good days and bad days. One star though as no one has ever butchered my hair off like this. read more

I scheduled a same day pedicure at Tram's and couldn't have been more pleased with the service. The massage chairs and plentiful on street/behind the building parking are great. The basic pedicure ($30) included an extensive lower leg massage with a hot stone and my nails looked great. There are lots of colors to choose from and an options for SNS, cat's eye, and chrome. I felt safe with their Covid precautions like plexiglass barriers between customers and staff, spaces out seating, requires masks, and temperature checks for all customers. Absolutely ridiculous service at this place! I called and made an appointment in advance, and specifically asked for the price. I was told it was $25 for a cut and $35 for shampoo and blow dry. Thought that was pretty good and went in as planned. First they gave my very curly hair super strange looks as if they'd never seen hair like that before. She wouldn't even run a brush through my hair -- handed it to me and said "please do it yourself I don't want to do it". I asked for a very slight trim to shape my hair, and asked for the styling to be done wavy. Collectively they all took a good 10 mins to understand that and said It'd cost me extra. I agreed. Then she began to start cutting when I stopped and said she hadn't shampooed my hair. To which they all annoyingly started laughing and said "what you also need a shampoo also now? I came here for the first time with an appointment, I was running 10 minutes late and when I called the nail tech told me to ""get there immediately " which I had been stuck in traffic coming from Redmond. Then I get there and they took forever to do the water for the pedicure and get everything set up. Finally getting to the pedicure, the chairs don't massage or they don't work or they just didn't turn them on , which is lacking in service. The pedicure was not good,she cut my ANKLE that already had an injury on it not paying attention, she was extremely rude and snobby. As well as me having the feeling of being rushed! Little left to say, right after my feet were dry and not well groomed, and she also wasn't careful about my injury pulling my pants back down. I was also there for a fill, right before valentines I asked for a tiny heart on one of my nails, which they made a HUGE deal about! Then totally screwed up.... a heart. After she cLipped down my old acrylic she didn't filll them in all the way wIth new acrylic... when I told her she started to cut my cuticles which I had then left with unfilled acrylic nails. They looked like crap and I ended up painting over them myself with glitter . It was legit the worst nail experience ever . read more

First time here and getting my hair balayage and I LOVE IT! I have incredibly long hair so it ended up taking a lot longer than I expected but it was so worth it. Tina did a fabulous job and I'm so happy with the color. She was so sweet and it's really well priced. Definitely coming back! Also they just opened a nail salon next door. I could not recommend this place more!! My boyfriend & I went the other evening & had a wonderful time. I got dip nails & the technician shaped my nails exactly how I wanted them & they look fabulous. Also, I received an wonderful hand massage & a neck/shoulder massage that was to die for - we are from SF & I have never had that luxury at a saloon before. My bf got a pedicure and said it was dynamite. In light of covid there were plexiglass shield placed between us & the employees all wore gloves & masks, hand sanitizer was placed at each station as well. They asked for your permission before giving the neck massage. If you do end up going here during the pandemic bring cash for the tip!! Wow, this is a great place. I've recently started and going to Tram's and have received my last three haircuts there. I'm very happy with the service and quality of service that I've received there, I can highly recommend. The location is convenient just on California Ave. With all the new apartments and condos going up, I realized that sometimes street parking in this area can be tough, but I can always find a decent spot. The staff is great. I always do walk-in and I think they just do a rotation on walk-ins so you get different people cutting your hair, and they are all great. As I sit there for my haircuts, I see my neighbors and other West Seattleites come in and Tram's is definitely part of the community, a place where you feel welcomed. read more

Tram's is a great local place - inexpensive, no frills, and reasonably efficient. I get gel and lacquer polish taken off and put on here regularly. And they're pretty good with the occasional ingrown toenail or cracked nail. I can't quite give them 5 stars because whether I call ahead or walk in, appointments aren't really honored here. If you're told to come on over, or given a specific time, or given a specific wait time, don't expect to start your session at that time. The longest I've waited is 45 minutes, and that's really pushing the boundary for me. I wish there was some notion of keeping a seat open if I reserve a time, but that doesn't happen here. read more

I really wanted to love this place. I love supporting small business owners but I just couldn't overlook the bad customer service experience. I had scheduled an appt with Tram and I even had to change the day I wanted to come in so I could see Tram. I walked in to an empty salon and Tram checks me in for my appointment, a woman says that she can take me but I insisted that I had scheduled an appt with Tram. Tram then says that woman is better than her and "I'm not taking any new clients anyways" I should have just left but instead I decided to give the salon a try bc they were completely empty of customers. I tried to show the hairdresser pictures of the haircut I wanted but she just brushed it off. I was concerned due to the language barrier but I decided to trust her. During my less than 30 min haircut, another hairdresser was trying on clothes and my hairdresser was very distracted from commenting on the clothes. Needless to say my haircut was not what I wanted. It was a $40 haircut, but I think it would have been a better haircut and experience at Supercuts. So disappointed. read more

Today was my second time stopping into Tram's and I cannot say enough good things about the stylists here. Today, I decided to chop off my long locks for a chicer messy short style. I came in and was immediately seated. I showed the stylist (I'm kicking myself for not remembering her name; she works from the station closest to the window) a few pictures. I told her I wanted to go pretty short, but just long enough where I could still curl it if I wanted. I emphasized my biggest hope was for more volume. She got to work and had me look in the mirror for the first cut to determine general length. Then, she went to work. She was SO METICULOUS. After doing a preliminary cut, she went back over and over, constantly brushing my hair different directions and making small clips to make sure no matter which way I parted my hair, it would look great. When she was done it looked phenomenal. It looked effortless, slightly edgy, classy, and fun. Sometimes I get home after a haircut and try to style my hair myself, and just can't get it to look right. That wasn't the case today. I was able to wash my hair and do a quick blow dry and it looked just the same as when I'd walked out of the salon. She nailed a cut that truly anyone could style at home. She is a total rockstar. The salon itself is simple. On one side there's the hair salon; on the adjacent side there's a nail salon. Tram brings her adorable little dog Leo to work which just makes the whole process of getting a haircut even more fun. Tram's prices are beyond reasonable. The haircut I just got was only $25! I'd absolutely recommend Tram's to anyone. read more

It can be hit & miss. There are times I feel like because I'm not getting my hair done or doing shellac that the service can be less than expected. Almost like they treat those customers better. They are all very nice but I don't want my legs rubbed with hot rocks for 3 minutes (literally) and then have my toes painted....and then be charged $25 before a tip --- but then am I a jerk for not tipping what I would other times because the service was better? It can be inconsistent with the service. There is an older lady with glasses, she is very nice but I'm always not thrilled with her. My service was less than 30 minutes while others around me were longer. No massage, and abrasive to my feet and toes. It was like she couldn't be done fast enough. Bummer. read more

Love that this nail salon is open on Sunday's. I tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago because my usual spot was closed. So glad I gave it a try because my mani and pedi were both perfect. You get a complimentary massage and they're super quick even though they take their time and make sure your nails are perfect. I also love their color selection, plenty to choose from. I went back the second time after two weeks and my pedicure is still perfect my nails just needed a color change. Tell me you've overbooked and that I'm wasting my time sitting here. Tell me to come back in 60 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous. Poor service, didn't offer paraffin, didn't receive a foot massage, let the water in the tub overflow. This was a train wreck of a pedicure from start to finish. I love the shellac mani pedi here and the chairs are awesome. I have gotten it from Vanessa, Phoung and Seoung and they all are good. I have come here few times with my toddler on weekdays who sits on my lap while I get it done and they have been pretty patient with me. I had also gotten my son's first haircut here when he was 14 months old and the stylist was so patient even though my son cried so much. My son cried even more for his second haircut appointment but the stylist (a different one) again dealt with it patiently. All in all an affordable place with good services. read more

I hesitate to give this review, purely for selfish reasons. This place was recommended by my daughter in law , who has exquisite taste so I was not concerned about trying it out. I am in the process of trying to grow my natural color out after years of dyeing my hair, so I wanted a good amount cut without going too short. I walked in and the gal said I can do a medium wedge cut and I said sure. She went to work and I have to say it was the best hair cut I have ever received. Great place to get a haircut if you don't mind the long wait; i think both times i was here i waited almost an hour before i got my cut. the barbers here do a terrific job and for $13 (tax included) you just can't beat the price! Interestingly enough, the first time i came here the barber that cut my hair was complaining that tram, her boss, was giving her crap for using up all her lunch break instead of coming right back when she's done eating. also that her pay was bad, blah blah blah... not sure if she should be telling me all that stuff but if it helps her vent and give me a good haircut, im all ears! The second time i came here i was actually waiting in line at westside barber shop cuz i wanted to try somewhere different, but as i was waiting, i was scared away by the dramatically opposite experiences that ppl had here, and the guys that were leaving were cashing out $28-35 bucks for their haircuts! no thanks...Tram cut my hair the second time and it was perfect! The stylist is kind but did a really average job. I had hair cut and color which should not cost more than $100. However, the owner was extremely greedy and charged me $180. Wonderful experience -- I highly recommend this salon! I am always hesitant when going to an salon for the first time, but my haircut turned out beautifully! Stylist Ten was very attentive and careful to cut my hair in a way that matched what I was looking for. I appreciated her suggestions on how to improve the cut even further. The stylists I talked to are very friendly, and the prices for haircuts are extremely reasonable. Also, they have a little card where if you get 9 haircuts, the 10th haircut is free.
