I love My-Hanh! This was my first time doing a balayage and I was very surprised with how well this turned out! I expressed my worry of having a super high-maintenance blonde look, and she completely nailed what I was envisioning in my head! Especially after doing a henna hair mask, she was able to clear out the red hues within an appointment! Which I'm so shocked about!! I'm very pleased with how my hair is developing after ~2 weeks after my appointment and my hair care routine is almost the same. She made sure that my hair was treated well and explained to me, in detail, of how my hair will look over time! As of now, I am very pleased and happy. My-Hanh overall is very empathetic, patient, and professional. She was very quick with the appointment, while also, being detailed with treatment and the dyeing process. She also was very-very sweet and considerate of me, esp. when there was miscommunication on my side. She made sure that we were clear and she was able to finish it with S-level care, haha. I got a hair cut at MYNT Salon last week (on Wednesday) and just wanted to leave a note about my satisfaction. I've lived in Seattle now for a year and have gone to a number of places, none of which provided me with a cut that was what I needed or wanted. The stylist who did my hair last week (Ericka): Wow! I am SO happy! She was so attentive and considerate of my hair type and desired style. (The salon website touts that they understand "ethnic hair" and this was proved true at my visit!) She was a really good communicator, indicating what she was doing and WHY, which is a big deal. I felt totally comfortable with her very logical decisions which evolved as she cut my hair both wet and dry. This was EVERYTHING I look for in a stylist as it is the only proper way to deal with my hair texture. I had little to say the day of the cut because I needed to see how it would work at home. My biggest complaint from all my previous stylists were the "zebra stripes" from foil and highlights. But never from Mynt! I am writing this review because I am very very disappointed in the lack of customer service I received from My-Hanh. My previous colorist is on maturity leave for a whole year. I paid 450$ for my hair back in December 250$ is nothing If I was satisfied with my service. I was desperately looking for a good and reasonable price. I showed up at my appointment that was 11am and no one was there. She showed up 30min late to the appointment. When I showed up to my appointment I had showed her multiple pictures of hair inspiration that I was going for. I wanted a blonde balayage and I specify that I wanted it a couple of millimeters away from my roots. I got my hair done back In December and it was a balayage, my hair was platinum blonde. All I wanted was to bring the color up closer to my roots. Long story short when I got home I noticed that the blonde was no where near my roots. The picture that she took of my hair is different from natural lightning. There was a section of hair that was a brassy tone. I will add pictures of my before and after. I was going to leave it and not say anything but I was really upset with my hair so I decided to text her explaining to her that I was not satisfied with my hair. I paid 250$ for it to basically look worse than what I came in with. The grow out still looks the same. She basically only did a root shadow and toned my hair. All I ask was for her to bring my grow out closer to my roots and tone out the brassy part but she refused. She even wanted me to PAY on top of my hair for getting it fix. I will attach pictures of her response. I am really upset by the response that I received. If you are very confident in your 17 years of work you would be able to take feedback from customers. Basically I paid 250$ for my hair to be more brassy than what I came in with. SHE HAS THE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER AND DOES NOT TAKE FEEDBACK FROM HER CLIENTS. SHE DOES NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER LACK OF 17 years of skills. I've never ever been this disappointed in a hair stylist. How she responded was rude and disrespectful. A few weeks ago, I had a balayage done at a salon in DT Seattle, the long-term goal being to get my virgin, dark hair to a light ash blonde. I had good experiences with haircuts there so I trusted them with my color, too. Unfortunately, I spent about four hours and came out with an orange head, random streaks of undyed hair, leopard spots, and the harshest transition between my roots and ends. I did NOT want to leave my house, and I HAD to wear my hair curled to hide the imperfections. Desperate for a fix, I remembered Mynt Salon. I had some questions before making an appointment, and My-Hanh responded to my Facebook messages within minutes. Booking was easy too (text or call). When I showed up to her new location, she was so welcoming. The whole vibe of the salon was chill and laid back, and they even offered food and beverage. It almost felt like I was just at a friend's house, hanging out, watching music videos. I gave My-Hanh complete control and after just a little over two hours, my hair was completely transformed! I went in for a balayage ombré today and it turned out so beautifully! My hair was already dyed red but they were able to tone it out to be a ashy blonde. My hair is not too processed either! Compared to other places, this place is definitely worth every penny. The girls were nice and knew exactly what I wanted once I showed them a photo. My-Hanh has been my go to stylist for the past 4 years and she continues to raise the bar each time I see her. Though I've been hopping along the west coast experimenting with other high-end stylists in Santa Monica, LA, and Portland, I always left feeling a little disappointed that my hair dreams didn't come true. Each time I'd come back to My-Hanh though, I left with amazing hair EXACTLY like how I wanted it, which reminded me that there's just honestly no comparison. Her new shop in White Center is clean, has ample parking, classy with a vintage vibe, and completely approachable. If you want bougie, pretentious service, Mynt Salon isn't for you because their staff is 100% friendly, non judgmental but completely accommodating with complementary glasses of wine and super nice staff. On to the hair. Throughout all my hair phases like blonde, brunette, warm, ash, long, layered, ombré, balayage and the like, My-Hanh is adept at every style and I always get amazing compliments after she gives my hair some royal treatment. Today I went in with a photo of some semi ash blonde ombré balayage and wasn't sure if we could get it processed in a single session since I came in with brunette hair. A few hours later, I came out with beautifully ash blonde ombré that perfectly blended in with my balayage. Cut was also super complementary to frame my face so I was thrilled to see the cut customized to me. She also suggested affordably priced Bed Head lavender shampoo without a crazy up mark so you know she's not trying to pull the wool over your eyes. All in all, even though I now live in Portland, My-Hanh is worth the drive up and worth an appointment for anyone looking for cut or color. I wouldn't know what to do without her if she ever stopped doing hair and, frankly, don't EVER want to think about it. read more

Myhanh and Cathy were fantastic! I came in with really thick, plain jane black hair, and they were able to lift me to a pretty golden blonde and fit in a cut in one session. I'm also glad that I was able to get their opinions on the tone of blonde that I wanted, and they were so helpful and sweet throughout the whole process . They let me know what they were doing the entire time, and even went out of their way to stay late and make sure that I was happy with the outcome. My-Hanh booked me same day and did a perfect partial foil for me, for a great price. I love the fun ambiance in her salon, very cottage chic, and much of it DIY that she made herself, including the curtains, shelves, tables. PLUS: you get to watch a really fun music video playlist on a large screen while your color sets. I also loved the Joico shampoo products she used, and want to get some for at home use. My-Hanh herself is also a very vibrant and multi-talented person who is fun to chat with and has a good sense of humor. During my appointment I texted my friend a photo of my foils in and she asked if she could get her hair colored ASAP. My-Hanh booked her for the next day, last appointment of the day. I have created a Yelp account solely for the purpose of writing a brutally honest review for Mynt Salon, from my OWN personal experiences. My previous hair colorists have been booked out for the whole summer, so I was desperately looking for a good, reasonably priced hair colorist. I came upon Mynt Salon's Instagram and read the Yelp reviews as well, prior to scheduling an appt with My-Hanh. The great reviews people wrote (esp. about My-Hanh) and the results of the pictures they posted of their hair really impressed me and it eventually convinced me to give Mynt Salon a shot. I called the salon asking for prices and availabilities, and they told me balayage prices start at $175, which I thought was reasonable, so I decided to schedule an appt with My-Hanh on 6/22 to re-do my 1 year blonde balayage (I have Asian hair btw). I'm sorry I have no pictures of my hair prior and after, but do keep in mind that I still had a good amount of blonde from my mid through ends of my hair, and brunette roots since my balayage did grow out. I showed My-Hanh a picture of what I was going for, which was just your typical all-around ashy blonde balayage and she convinced me that she could do that for me, so I trusted her words. My-Hanh told me that if I wanted to get really blonde, she would have to double process my hair and she would do an ashy brown for my roots so when my hair grows out it'll look "natural". Again, I trusted her with my hair. About 3 hours later after being in the chair for so long and excited and anxious to see my hair, I had never been more disappointed from the results of my hair. My whole hair turned out orange, I kid you not. Again, taking pictures of my hair never crossed my mind at that point. All of the stylists there kept telling me how much they loved my hair and how great it turned out, and I was just so lost for words and was convinced that they were telling me the truth, so I just didn't bother expressing my emotions because it was a long 3 hours for the hair colorists and I just didn't want to deal with it. I thanked them, paid $240 including a $20 tip, and left. Yes, you read that right, the total came out to be $240 without tip. I was charged extra for the double process which I was NEVER told it would be extra cost, and if I had known, I wouldn't have agreed to the double process. I am not new to the blonde balayage hair game, I completely understand that it takes time and many sessions to get Asian hair ashy blonde w/o any brassiness. I got home so upset and sad (more so because I'm unemployed and have been saving that money for my hair) that I actually started crying. I have NEVER spent more than $200 for a good balayage, so the fact that I spent $260 for my hair to turn out NOT how I wanted it to, it was really devastating. I just honestly didn't know what went wrong on my end, my whole hair should've never turned out orange if My-Hanh knew what she was doing. After my breakdown I decided to call My-Hanh to let her know how completely dissatisfied I was with my hair, which I couldn't get myself to tell her at the salon. She straight up told me "It's not that bad, I've seen worse". I told her that I did not pay $260 for my hair to turn orange and that I would like her to color correct my hair, if she would charge for it (she said no) and we set up an appt the following week. When I went in the following week, I clarified with her if I was going to be charged for the color correction and she told me that she would charge only if I went lighter, not darker. I honestly couldn't believe she would even consider charging me for the color correction in which SHE was at fault! I was so disgusted that I just told her to color correct my hair back to brunette (my natural/virgin hair) because I couldn't allow myself to spend a total of $300+ for HER fuck up. All in all, I would NEVER EVER recommend Mynt Salon to anyone, and honestly I'm surprisingly glad to hear that some ladies had really good experiences with My-Hanh. I've never ever been this disappointed in a hair colorist. Whenever I think about it, it makes me more upset because I pretty much spent $260 to go back to my original hair color- if I wanted to go brunette, I would've easily gone with the non-professional box dye. read more

Mi-hanh is a literal angel. I called her at 5:30PM on a Monday with a hair crisis- my balayage at a different salon had gone horribly wrong and yellow/brassy(see photos). She was trying to find a time to book me for the week and when nothing worked mutually she offered to let me walk-in and did my hair on the spot. I was nervous but trusted all the good reviews and the photos on her IG. She asked for a few photos and understood what I wanted instantly. More importantly, she delivered! It only took about 30 min for the color correction and toner to set and I nearly cried from relief when I saw the results. She and her assistant (can't remember her name?) saved me from having to go to holiday business events as a orange-haired disaster. Plus she was super fun and interesting to talk to, salon was very cute and clean. 12/10 will be booking my touch up and telling all my friends to see Mi-Hanh and her team! read more
