I wanted to try something new for lunch and decided on Tradicional 314. Lunch is served until 3, so I had the option of ordering from that menu or dinner if I chose. I told my server I was torn between the lunch tacos and the shrimp Al ajillo and she suggested the latter because it's more flavorful. Although it wasn't busy, it took longer than expected to get my meal, especially for it being to-go. Even though I removed the onions and the spicy chiles, there wasn't much to the dish other than the shrimp, rice, and a little lettuce. In spite of that, the shrimp was packed with flavor but I wish I had more than a handful of rice to go with it. Overall, the server was friendly and the food was good. I'd def return to try more dishes. read more

314 is one of those restaurants that has it all -- friendly service, delicious food, attention to detail, and the owner (Marco) who makes you feel at home. We went for Taco Tuesday and tried some of the authentic tacos. All delicious. Spectacular servers here!! Let's talk about their salsa/hot sauces! These are flavor packed sauces that are great accents for dishes... they have spice, flavor and are great for chip toppings! But know they aren't the tomato based salsas that are chunky, but they are good!!!!!! Come enjoy authentic Mexican food, in a great family friendly atmosphere! Really truly surprisingly delicious authentic Mexican food. I think when some reviewers say it's non-traditional, they mean that it is not traditional, American style Mexican food. Which I also happen to enjoy, so no shade. But this stuff is different. This is the real deal. It's really tasty. It's delightful. It has real handmade flavor to it. Did not expect to find this in the location I found it. read more

Let's talk about the service, prompt, friendly and had great recommendations! Nini is the best!!! I'm not sure yet if the food or the drinks are better here because I love them both. The flavors of everything that comes out of the kitchen produced by Marcos is absolutely amazing. The crispy tripa taco to die for! The texture of the meat, perfect little crispy bites. The salmon perfectly cooked with a poblano sauce, smothering it perfectly. I ate almost half of my wife's shredded chicken taco salad because between the chicken and the refried beans that they put in the salad you can't stop wanting to go back for another bite. Nini is a star behind the bar with libations that make Tuesday after a crappy work day feel like you've been transported to somewhere far more tropical and exquisite. I recommend over and over to everyone who is asking for a bite on any night. read more

Restaurant sits to the back of a stip mall off of Olive. We were in search of a place with some happy hour specials. Came in sat at the bar and ordered a few drinks. Decided to have some food as well and they didn't disappoint. Torta and tacos were full of authentic flavors not the watered down flavorless stuff commonly seen around the Midwest. Will definitely come back and try more. If you don't like flavorful or spicy please don't come here and ruin this place for me. Stay with the bland places already established elsewhere. read more

Oh yeah. Usually any restaurant within walking distance of my hotel is analogous to a roach infested McDonald's. Not so tonight! A lengthy menu of anything but traditional Mexican fare greeted me. Being overwhelmed I tortured my lovely server with questions and peppered her with questions-finally giving in to her last recommendation after I didn't quite hear it. Flautas. Amazingly good. Margarita perfect. A lot of tvs that I was able to ignore but cheap. Can't think of anything to improve upon. Whatever the green sauce that came with the chips was would fly off the shelves. read more

Unassuming exterior in a strip mall but the food and staff make this a great experience. They have a full bar, happy hour specials, lunch specials and kid friendly, clean, brightly lit and well decorated. The 24 ounce strawberry Margarita was perfect accompaniment for the meal. The Pollo 636 was a great choice, chicken breast butterflied , breaded and deep fried and covered with chorizo, shrimp and cheese and served with rice and beans. The chicken was tender and flavorful and the chorizo added a perfect touch.Definitely worth a visit and we will be returning soon. read more

HOLY SHIT! order: * ezquites * 3 chicken empanadas * cali burrito * 2 large horchatas * churros I ordered over the phone which was simple enough. He said my order should be finished in 15 minutes and I live in brentwood so by the time I got there it was all ready to be picked up! Unfortunately ezquites were missing from my order, but I'll just give them a try next time. My bf INHALED the empanadas, the horchata was PHENOMENAL (my bf finished it before we even got home), and the churros I bet would've been better if we had them fresh while they were hot, but still delicious. But the cali burrito? THEE BEST BURRITO IVE EVER HAD. And I think it means quite a bit having lived in Chicago, D.C. and Arizona. I'm a HUGE fan and I will most definitely become a regular here. note worthy: * The large horchatas we're HUGE. I could barely carry the food and one horchata and asked if I could come back, but the woman who helped me offered to walk me to my car! We LOVE great customer service. * I'm not sure if it's because I had a big order or what, but my order of churros was suppose to only come with 3 but I got 6! A lovely and yummy surprise and delight! Of course I didn't take any pictures because they were so good and I was getting hangry haha. I will be back! read more

Clean, friendly and inviting location. Had the happy hour house margaritas which was as good. Served in a mason jar and cool ambiance. The green and red salsa severed with the chips were both good. The chips were a bit lacking but completely acceptable. The cheese pull on the queso fundido was better than any pizza. It came out bubbling hot in a cast iron skillet it was well seasoned and the perfect accompaniment to the margaritas. While I only enjoyed the appetizer and the margaritas I will be back to try other menu options. read more

Stopped in at this spot in Creve Coure for lunch. I had the enchiladas rojas and a side of beans. The enchiladas were the best dish I've tried in some time. This is definitely the best Mexican food I've ever eaten. The side of beans after the enchiladas was kind of weak. I just can't be a fan of puréed pinto beans. If you're gonna make frijoles refritos you should mash the beans and leave some partially mashed or whole. While not bad they were just average Paling by comparison with the enchiladas. Service was good too. I'll definitely be back! read more

Ambiance is comfortable and colorful. The service is friendly and prompt. The aqua fresca is awesome. The food was not as good as anticipated although I cannot identify exactly what it was I did not care for. Salsa and chips are good, but the guac, enchiladas, and quesadilla were disappointing. I do want to make it a point to go back and try the mole though. read more

This spot is close to our new house and had great reviews so we decided to check it out for a dinner out! I love chips and salsa and I really liked that they had a couple of different salsas brought to the table! This was great for a group with different spice preferences. Had a great lunch today at Tradicional 314! The service was excellent - very friendly staff, very helpful with ordering, answering questions, and even held the door open as we left with a kind message to please come back. Our group of 4 had the Queso Fundito appetizer, which was yummo and devoured by everyone! We also enjoyed their complimentary chips and red / green salsas. Both had a little heat, but were tasty - although a little spicy for some in our party. I liked that the salsas came in squeeze bottles with individual little sauce cups. We each could get our own salsas of choice, and no worries about double dipping that way! I had 3 individual tacos - pescado (fish), pollo (chicken), and al pastor (pork). All were very good! My fave was the fish. It was fresh, flavorful and had a nice little sauce and slaw on top to complement. The chicken was a close 2nd. It had great flavor with some onion and cheese to accompany. I got them all on corn tortillas, which were wonderful, along with an order of their grilled whole (mini) onions (can't remember what they were called). The onions were still pretty firm, and could have been grilled to soften a bit more. I still ate them and enjoyed that they were kissed by fire, as it was a tasty side to the tacos. The others in our party got a lunch 1/2 order of chicken fajita, a burrito, and an enchilada. Everyone either cleaned their plates or asked for to go boxes - portions were great! Ambiance and experience was very nice - clean, welcoming, not loud, decent prices, lots of parking... they aren't a huge restaurant though. So seating might be limited IF they get super busy. But the food and service would make it worth it! I suspect there are some family recipes being made there -- food was just really, really good! We were there over 4th of July holiday week. I called ahead to see if they were busy, but they said the holiday week was quiet for them -- so stop by to give their business some love! read more

Hidden Gem in Creve Cour Ambiance Location is in a weird spot hidden away in a strip mall. You wouldn't know it is a Mexican restaurant due to simple and subtle signage. When you walk in it is absolutely beautiful. Well lit and had authentic Mexican inspired ambiance. Not too big of a place, maybe about 30 tables max. Service First time here and our server had such great recommendations. Everything we got was base on her recommendation. Very knowledgeable of the menu and can tailor to what you are craving! Everything was easy and quick, no complaints. Extra stars for our server telling us the best way to eat the taco to ensure the best experience. Food I want to start by saying I am not a Mexican fan most of the time. I'm not the first to say I want Mexican tonight but enjoy most of the things I eat. From the appetizer to the entrée, it was DELICIOUS. The complimentary salsa was FRESH and had great flavor. Corn chips were cooked perfectly. Chorizo queso had the right amount of balance savoriness bc sometimes the chorizo can be overpowering (base on past experiences at other places). Birra tacos were some of the best and not something you don't see on many menus. Definitely a must try. Carne asada is a classic and cooked perfectly. I love the extra sides of cheese enchiladas and fried Mexican cheese! Can't wait to come back! read more

Really delicious authentic Mexican food in a clean, fun restaurant. Don't let the slightly hidden location or parking scare you! There is more parking below the building than it originally appears FYI. The menu filled me with excitement when I read homemade tortillas, sopes, homemade mole, and even homemade thick tortilla gorditas. Such tough decisions! I opted to try a gordita and sope. The gordita was soft, flaky and oh so good. Nothing at all like Taco Bell! The sope was okay compared to the gordita but still really good. The guacamole was so fresh and I was impressed with the tomato onion topping for presentation. I also really appreciated that the drink menu was not only beer, wine and margaritas. My pineapple whiskey cocktail was refreshing and hit the spot! My friends margaritas were a big hit and we loved how they used old salsa jars as the serving glasses. Will be back soon to try more flavorful dishes! read more

The staff is always friendly and the restaurant is dark but cozy. When you walk in, it's a tight squeeze but even with a party of 6 we were able to sit quickly. The menu has a black background and tiny writing, so don't forget your reading glasses! The chips are awesome and they come with a green and red sauce, which are both very good! We also got the queso, but it's not a lot! (it's a little bowl actually) but very good! Now our dinners were fabulous! I had the Quesabirria and oh my were they great!! They took the Birria tacos & made it better!! My husband had the large beef quesadillas ( and he's NOT a quesadilla person! ) he also ordered a side of grilled corn & Mexican rice and loved all of it!!! I came here on a double date not really knowing what to expect. I have a local favorite Mexican place, so I was curious how this would compare. We went on a Friday night, so it was quite busy, so I'm glad that I was able to make reservations. The parking lot right outside of the restaurant is pretty small, but there is a parking area right below the restaurant where you would need to take stairs up to the restaurant. There were plenty of spots there. I looked at the menu ahead of time and decided on the Alambre. Something I never had before, but it sounded delicious. I started with the house margarita, the 24oz, not the 32oz. Though when I took my first sip, I wished I had gotten the 32oz because it was soo good. But then as I was close to finishing the margarita, I realized how strong it was and was glad I got the 24oz. The Alambra was incredible. The peppers, protein, cheese, onions all had a nice char to them paired with the flour tortilla our server recommended, I could eat this at least once a week. I also had a bite of my spouse's veggie burrito, I was pleasantly surprised as to how good it was even though I'm a big meat eater. The whole table really enjoyed everything they had. This place is amazing, the service was great and so was the food. I'd say this has to be my current favorite Mexican restaurant. If only it was a bit closer. read more

Met a friend here for dinner, it was good to see her and catch up. We got some fun cocktails and they were excellent! The margaritas are the way to go! The service was perfect - we never felt neglected while we were catching up, but we also didn't feel bothered and interrupted. Great spot for food and drinks! read more

First time at this restaurant and I tried one of their lunch specials, 2 tacos. I chose the marinated pork and it was garnished with pineapple, onions and cilantro and it came with rice and refried beans. The tacos were very small which was disappointing. The tacos tasted good but each taco had a fatty chunk it it. The rice and beans are what you would expect. I decided to sit at the bar and the service was excellent. I like the chips and salsa arrangement. In the chip basket was 2 empty small containers for salsa and the waitress brought two squeeze bottles of salsa, one was roja and one was verde. Three guys sat to my left and a gal sat to my right and I enjoyed talking with all of them. read more

Nice place, pleasant workers, decent food. Mostly traditional/stereotypical food choices, but they also add their own specialties. I had the pollo 360 plate, which was the unholy trinity of breaded chicken breast with chorizo & shrimp on top. Also topped with cheese and cilantro. Actually, it was pretty good. The plates all come with rice, beans, and tortillas. I thought the rice was pretty bland. I know it's a standard side, but add a little seasoning. The wife thought the refried beans were great. I thought they were so-so. The wife ordered the carne asada plate. It was a pretty big serving of grilled skirt steak, juicy and tender. Not a bad job. read more

My coworker and I had lunch here yesterday. We both got the 2 enchilada special one each of beef and chicken. The service was fairly good. The focus wall has a painted scene of 3 Hispanic ladies dancing in brightly colored patterned dresses. The food came to our table hot from the kitchen in about 15 minutes. The enchiladas were served with refried beans and Spanish rice. The enchiladas were covered with verde sauce, lettuce, tomatoes and onions. They were delicious. The only downside to this place is the music. It is played at fairly high volume so conversation is difficult. The prices are a bit high, the 2 of us spent $33 with soft drinks for lunch. read more

Quite a while ago a friend posted about this place. We LOVE Mexican food, so of course we had to try it. And we've been going ever since. We hadn't been there is a few months, and when we arrived tonight, we noticed a few changes. They added more tables and reconfigured the place a little bit to accommodate them. There's nothing typical about Tradicional, including the decor. It's kind of chill and doesn't have the "typical" Mexican restaurant decor. The service is great. We've had a number of different servers there and they're all pleasant and on top of things. But the food and cocktails are what keep us coming back. Our favorite cocktail is the Silencio Del Rio. If you don't like mezcal, do not get this cocktail! It's made of mezcal, fresh watermelon juice and muddled jalapeños. Yum! Each week of the month, they have a special that runs M-F of the week. The first week of the month, is Molé Poblano week. It's the best molé we've found in STL! Their birria is also good - a lot of things are! There's no "guaca salad"! It's one of our favorite Mexican restaurants in the area and I'm glad my friend posted about it! read more

It is hard to find delicious traditional Mexican food in St. Louis and I really enjoyed the ambiance & food that Tradicional 314 has to offer. We were welcomed upon arrival & immediately sat despite it looking so incredibly busy at peak time - which is great to see. After being sat, we immediately were greeted with complimentary chips and green & red salsa options. Both salsas were very delicious with a little bit of heat, which makes me incredibly happy. Our server was polite and timely while maintaining her other tables & keeping up with the kitchen perfectly. We ordered drinks - Pacifico draft & a House Margarita - & Ezquites to start the meal. Ezquites were very delicious with tons of flavor - little sweet and little citrus. For dinner, I enjoyed the Al Pastor tacos - which were made traditionally and in the perfect TJ taco style. The flavors popped and were complimented with the pineapple. My boyfriend enjoyed the Gringas Tacos - which are similar to Al Pastor, but add grilled cheese! Definitely a wonderful addition to make it a bit more unique. We enjoyed the service and the food greatly. Holy Lord, this place was a religious experience for me. This was a last night, spontaneous find on our family's annual spring trip to STL from TN a few weeks ago. It was right next to our hotel and we wanted something easy. From the second you walk in, you quickly realize this is not your average Mexican restaurant in the Southeast/Midwest. The restaurant is beautiful and moody. A real vibe. We did, of course, get a cheese dip but the real dip stars were the guacamole, and honestly just their house salsas which were so rich and unique. None of us could decide what we liked most. For dinner, I got the Posole that was on special that night (I think it's only available on Sat & Sun). Not only was it somehow fresh and incredibly hearty at the same time, but I'm pretty sure it could grow back a limb. Also got a delish little Al Pastor Sope but was so in love and full from the Posole, I couldn't give it the attention it deserved. Our kids split the kids steak quesadilla, which I was definitely stealing bites from because it was so good. My husband and uncle both got the Barbacoa (also only on Sat/Sun), which was truly divine. My aunt got the Molcajete and couldn't stop praising it. Everyone but me got the house margaritas which were huge and incredibly refreshing, however, I made everyone jealous with my mezcal cocktail called Silencio Del Rio, which I will be trying to recreate until I am able to go back to Tradicional 314. Thank you for a great experience. Even if we don't stay in Creve Coeur next time, we will certainly be coming back to this amazing place! read more
