Nice looking bar, that's a very welcomed addition to the neighborhood! For over a year and a half, If I ever wanted to have a drink, I've been relegated to walking 3 1/2 blocks to Duck Duck which was the closest bar to my apt...so glad there is now a bar that is less than a block away. The bar itself is a decent sized space, can be tight if crowded, but overall has a very cool atmosphere and vibe...simple and kind of rustic is how I would describe the decor. Prices for draft beer were between 5 and 6 dollars with some interesting beers to choose from, albeit not a huge selection...not sure how much liqour is however I'd assume from the price of the beer, premium liquor beverages will be between 8 and 10 dollars. (this may be my only qualm with the bar, as I like having cheepo option's i.e Miller Highlife or PBR) I wasn't able to get a drink this time around, the bar was way too crowded which was probably due to it's recent opening, for sure I'll be heading back soon and I'll get the low down on the prices for liquor. If you live off the Montrose stop, I highly recommend stopping in and having a drink at Tradesman, support our local businesses kids! read more

This review is for brunch only, though I think based on the experience, I can't imagine it being much better besides that. 4 people sitting at the bar. And the 2 people behind the counter couldn't work efficiently enough to handle us 4 people and had us waiting for even a refill on water? The food took forever to come out, like, my boyfriend and I of many years ran out of things to talk about and the other people at the bar seemingly did too. So we just patiently waited watching the 2 service people NOT multi-task and not speak to people who are patrons. Even now when we're thinking of somewhere to go to brunch, we're like "tradesman????" as a joke. read more

What. A. Bar. I stopped here for a Saturday night birthday party, and was greeted BY the bartender at the front of the house letting us know we were catching the last part of the happy hour. A Saturday night birthday party in any other area would be a crowded, overpiced, under-spaced affair- but this place is really an oasis from all that during the weekends. Good things: Right off the Montrose stop, right across the street from an amazing bodega (with a cheap ATM fee) and great drinks. The theme is tradesman, yes, but not overpowering. The cocktails are great, the beer is great, and the tables a-plenty. I would've hit the immense backyard area, but too cold. The bartenders are really generous and friendly. A good spot to visit if you're in the area. read more

The first time I went to Tradesman was for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. The food was pretty great but their customer service was absolutely horrible. The staff wasn't friendly whatsoever. That totally ruined it for me and has stuck with me ever since. I decided to give it another shot and stopped by for drinks a few nights ago and had the same horrible experience with unfriendly staff. I'm really disappointed because the bar is in my neighborhood but I don't feel welcome there at all. I really hoped the Tradesman could be my local spot :/ read more

I love coming here. It's a super relaxed environment for the most part. I love the crispin hard cider. The $4 happy hour specials are awesome. The brunch lasts until 5 on Saturday and Sunday so that's awesome. The bartenders aren't the friendliest but I'm not one of those people looking to unload my problems on them. As long as they keep my drinks coming and they make them correctly , they don't need to be Mary poppins lol. P.S. Lol to the review about the rude doorman. I've been going to Tradesman for a while and I've never seen a doorman. read more

One of my favorite bars in the neighborhood! The feel of this place is very welcoming and laid back. Lots of seating inside and also in the garden. Any bar that has outdoor space is always good. When those cool, summer Brooklyn Nights hit where you just need a drink. This is where to go. The staff is friendly and it's a nice place to hangout. The prices are very reasonable for the area and if you want some alone time with your date. This is a great spot. read more

Just went there for Sunday brunch excellent experience .Food was great challah French toast out of this world bacon tasted like Sunday bacon . Had to make the trek of 7 blocks from bushwick by self wife acting up . Sat by self . But also took a take away plate they put it in foil that will do... read more

Tradesman - Crispin cider was great until they let me try something else . That was much sweeter with ice... After math photo - Bars Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

A real local neighborhood bar. I was visiting from LA and stumbled upon this bar and ended up spending the rest of my evening there. Everyone was talking to each other and to the bartenders...reminds me of why I like NY. Jeremy was an attentive and knowledgable bartender and seemed to know every patron by name. Great spot. read more

Came in on a Friday night at about 10pm to grab a drink with a friend. Prices are decent, wasn't too packed and nice vibes. I'd be back to give their HH a try if I'm in the area. read more

5 star for mostly one reason: the conversation/experience I had with bartender Ehi. Honestly, I'll return as much as possible, even though it is far away from me in PLG. The experience was that positive. SO... thanks! (also, the place is just lovely, spacious, owner seems great, nice selection of alcohol/beer) read more

Love this new spot in the hood! Nice atmosphere and vibe. Good prices. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because my drink sucked: get rid of the onion dirty martini on the menu, it really is gross. read more

Let me tell you, this very casual place is perfect for a lazy Saturday afternoon. The deviled eggs and kale salad is so good. Maria our host is so nice! She made great recommendations that were on the money . Plus she has a sweet temperament as well. I would come here in a heartbeat now. Sat in the backyard terrace and just enjoyed the drinks and food. read more

Happy hour until 9pm...just make sure to order well liquor b/c tho the menu states that it includes house specialties (and your favorites) it means your favorites made with well liquor. I was a little confused and maybe should have asked first...but the menu lists beers and well drinks and then goes on to say it includes the specialties & your favs so I assumed that specialties were made with higher quality liquors...last night the bartender told me nope haha. Ok. So now I know. Still a cute place...and conveniently located right off of the Montrose L. I liked it, and now that I know how to order...haha...I'm sure I'll like it even more! read more

Tradesman - Bars Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Chill bar. Great back space. Good cocktails. Unfortunately the last time I was there I was informed that they've eliminated the Hungry Man brunch plate. It was my favorite brunch dish in all of NYC and really wish they hadn't pulled it because it was one of the very very few places where you could get sweet and savory for brunch on one plate. So now it's gone from an extraordinary brunch place to an ordinary brunch place. :( Bring back the Hungry Man brunch plate! read more

We went there for a quick Sunday brunch and it was delicious. I had the Herbed Scramble Eggs. It was so tasty matched with the Gin Grapefruit Spitz. The food was a bit slow coming out but it was so tasty that it made more for the wait. Definitely worth a second visit. read more

Might be my favorite bar in Brooklyn. Not only is it my neighbor but this is where I had my first date with my love so it has a special place in my heart. But besides that lol it's just perfect for whatever occasion you want it to be. The back yard is my favorite touch for more laid back open air vibes, or take it inside at the bar for more Romantic date vibe or sit at one of the tables for a gathering of friends vibe. The happy hour is the best and it goes late so that's a plus. I like to think of this bar as more chill but then I came here on New Years after we snuck out of a party early and it was a blasssst. And the music is always on point. Sometimes it's like a lil Spanish guitar sometimes more classics but whatever it is it's never too loud where you can't have a convo. It's lightly on in the background just enough where you find your self dancing in your seat while still talking in a normal voice to your friends. It's always a tradesman kind of night read more

Awesome new bar. Love it. Huge backyard, homey interior with long bar and lots of seating. Also, I went here during happy hour which ended up being pretty cheap! I'll be back here to experience that patio for sure now that the weather is awesome! read more

I stumbled by this bar today after a hectic work week this was a great find, the bloodymary was excellent and they also have a great selection of beer on tap. the bartender was very friendly and the service was on point. The staff were rude and condescending. We asked for an appetizer and weren't satisfied with the order so we kindly asked to get something else instead. They charged us for both appetizers and proceeded to argue with us about why we were charged for something we did not eat. This has never happened to me at a restaurant before when I've explained I just didn't like or expect what was given to me. The food wasn't the most tasteful either. We got simple tater tots and they weren't good. I believe it's not difficult to make tater tots tasteful. read more

Great atmosphere and drinks. Was just looking for a place to sit and wait, found it just off the L at Montrose. Cash only which is interesting, but it gives it a more local feel. Will be venturing out here again! read more

When I lived in this neighborhood this was my local. The owners have put a lot of thought into the overall decor, staff, drinks, and food menu. The best feature of this place is the large enclosed backyard. You can even rent it for private events. read more

If you're in the area and are meeting with friends for a chill yet fun night, go here. It's legit. The best neighborhood bar in BK.

Incredible service, tasty and thoughtful drinks, backyard, cozy seating, clean bathrooms and nice decor. But, brunch is where it's at, the menu is small, creative and ridiculously tasty. We had the CLT (I think that's what it was called), the smoked trout plate (perfect little pancakes with smoked trout, horseradish sauce and roe) and the deviled eggs (with the perfect amount of truffle oil). Everything exceded my expectations. I only hope that in the future we can see more come out of that kitchen. read more

I walked in here randomly after seeing a show at the well and ended up staying all night because of Lem. He epitomizes an old fashioned bartender - smart, funny, good listener. I live nowhere near this place but I will be back next Saturday to see my new favorite bartender. read more

I live around the corner, and Tradesman has become one of my regular haunts. Cheap drinks, friendly staff. It's cash only, but there's an ATM. During the summer, their outdoor space is nice. Sometimes I'll walk by on Friday and Saturday nights, and it'll be packed inside. It's a pretty unassuming place from the outside, so that was unexpected. They just started doing brunch, and it was fantastic. I got the acorn squash with orzo and greens. It was hearty and filling, but not heavy--exactly what I was looking for. My boyfriend, who does not have a sweet tooth, got the challah french toast and was in love. They had a lavender lemonade cocktail that was good. For 2 entrees and 4 drinks, the bill was $39. I'll definitely be back next week. read more

It deeply saddens me to have to write this review however, i feel it must be done. I had the WORST bar experience here ever, and I've been to a lot of bars. Sunday night into Monday morning, at about 1 AM one of my friends suggested Tradesman as her all-time favorite bar. She said she goes there all the time and that she LOVED it. We went. Ordered a few rounds of delicious shots and drinks. Some other friends joined us. Ultimately, it was six of us who were there as paying customers. The bartender announced last call, we got our last drinks and continued to sip on them. At around 2:30am, the bartender (who had been super nice up to this point) screamed that we all needed to get the *eff* out. We were shocked, my jaw dropped. I think she realized we were taken aback, and she apologized. Said it wasn't how she meant it. One of my female friends and I decided to use the bathroom before we left. We went into the single stall bathroom together (as girls often do). Suddenly there was loud aggressive banging at the door. We finished our business, washed our hands, and went back out into the bar. We found that it was the "bus boy" who had banged on the bathroom door. He wanted to ensure there was no "funny business" happening inside. Two of my friends had gone to get the car and so four of us remained. One of my friends who remained at the table as we went to the restroom stated that the busboy came to clear the tables. He tried to take our drinks which were still half full. She told him that we had not finished them to which he replied "they have 80 seconds to finish them". At this point we were appalled. I loudly stated "Let's finish our drinks that we chose to buy here with our hard earned money." The busboy and bartender realized we were unhappy. Somehow all five of us got into a heated discussion. The bartender and the busboy tried to explain that *sometimes* people try to go to the bathrooms and hang around on purpose and they assumed that's what we were doing. The busboy (who's from Hawaii as we were told) made some comment that because we were native New Yorkers we were the minority in Bushwick and that they didn't know if we were going to be troublemakers. My friend who frequents the place was super disappointed in the service. The Bartender even admitted to having seen her there before. If they knew she was a regular, why would they treat us this way?? After both sides spoke their peace, everyone shook hands. The bartender and the busboy "thanked us" for giving our feedback. They shook our hands and we parted ways. As a paying customer it is extremely disappointing to have to explain HOW to run a business. Had they come to our table, explained they needed to close up the bar ASAP, we would have been MORE than accommodating. However, when they criminalize us, aggressively force us out, and ASSUME we're going to be troublemakers - i have a problem. The drinks were great. The employees, not so much. Based on the service - i would not recommend this place EVER. read more

Came here for a friend's birthday (Anne: Super Bartender), which was a nice turn down from the day party I was at earlier in the day. The aesthetic was cute, and the crowd, a friendly mix. Definitely a spot worth adventuring out to, dolo or otherwise, for some reliable vibes. read more

Tradesman has been my go-to bar in the neighborhood for over 5 years. It's super chill, super cheap, the staff is super sweet and the backyard is perfect for groups. I've never had a bad experience in the probably 30+ times I've been there. Never leave! read more

Note to bartender: please don't taste my drink as you're handing it to me. Gross.

Great cozy atmosphere. Lots of friendly locals. Great list of beers, whiskey, and cocktails. Best happy hour in NYC, til 9 pm. The back yard in the summer is the best. The owners and staff are just lovely! read more

Came here last night for the first time (even though I live blocks away). Shared a bottle of wine. The bartender was great (I forget his name) and very sweet to both me and my date. Friendly, low key, and a sick happy hour that lasts till 9pm. What's not to love?

A mix of comfortable and swanky (in vibe, not in price), this was a great place to grab a beer. I stopped in on a slow Thursday evening a few weeks ago. The happy hour was still going (yay), the beer selection was pretty solid and the bartender friendly. I wish the kitchen had been open but otherwise cannot complain at all. read more

Had the worst experience here. A group of friends decided we wanted to hang out locally after a bbq and the minute we walked in the bartender was unwelcoming and very rude. She ended up getting into an argument with one of the girls and starting clapping her hand in the girls face. The whole event was just really uncalled for. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone while she is servicing the bar! read more

sure, there's duck duck right across from my apartment... or Tradesman that's a few feet from my apartment. i like 'em all! the DJ's who spin here are always so nice! the bartenders kind of take forever to get to you, but it's not their fault it's so packed and busy in there! it's good to get there early to snag a table inside or outside in their backyard patio. i love coming here during the summer. A/C is pumpin' and they have delicious specialty cocktails/drinks available. my favorite is the cucumber margarita! very tasty. $8-$10 isn't too bad for drinks, but it's a little up there being that this neighborhood has so many dive bars. i don't mind it, though! read more

The Tradesman is Brooklyn's hidden gem. Hung out here yesterday afternoon with my husband and an old HS friend. We spent four hours on the back patio enjoying a few drinks and catching up. The patio has a lot of tables and is enclosed by a tall wooden fence, so it blocks out the city noise leaving you to feel relaxed and able to carry on a conversation. If I lived in Brooklyn I'd be hanging out here every weekend. Larissa, one of the owners, has put a lot of hard work into making her dream come true and it shows. She has also made a lot of great selections on the beers. And, if you're not a beer drinker she'll recommend a drink for you. Overall, the perfect neighborhood bar! :-) read more

interesting cocktail menu. very reasonably priced beers and cocktails. decor is cool hipster cabin in the woods. lots of unicorns. 2 single occupancy unisex bathrooms in the back. very large outdoor space with chairs and tables, easily seats 20+. entrance/front door is nondescript and you can easily walk past this little gem of a bar if you're not looking for it. cons: cash only but they have an atm on-site. 5 stars if they took credit cards. read more
