I only came here because my friends live around the corner from here. It's completely out of the way for me. That said, the drinks are decent as is the beer selection. I noticed a few reviews saying that the bartender was rude. I wouldn't say rude, I would say aloof and not super friendly. Nice looking bar, that's a very welcomed addition to the neighborhood! For over a year and a half, If I ever wanted to have a drink, I've been relegated to walking 3 1/2 blocks to Duck Duck which was the closest bar to my apt...so glad there is now a bar that is less than a block away. The bar itself is a decent sized space, can be tight if crowded, but overall has a very cool atmosphere and vibe...simple and kind of rustic is how I would describe the decor. Prices for draft beer were between 5 and 6 dollars with some interesting beers to choose from, albeit not a huge selection...not sure how much liqour is however I'd assume from the price of the beer, premium liquor beverages will be between 8 and 10 dollars. (this may be my only qualm with the bar, as I like having cheepo option's i.e Miller Highlife or PBR) I wasn't able to get a drink this time around, the bar was way too crowded which was probably due to it's recent opening, for sure I'll be heading back soon and I'll get the low down on the prices for liquor. If you live off the Montrose stop, I highly recommend stopping in and having a drink at Tradesman, support our local businesses kids! read more

And the 2 people behind the counter couldn't work efficiently enough to handle us 4 people and had us waiting for even a refill on water? The food took forever to come out, like, my boyfriend and I of many years ran out of things to talk about and the other people at the bar seemingly did too. So we just patiently waited watching the 2 service people NOT multi-task and not speak to people who are patrons. What. A. Bar. I stopped here for a Saturday night birthday party, and was greeted BY the bartender at the front of the house letting us know we were catching the last part of the happy hour. A Saturday night birthday party in any other area would be a crowded, overpiced, under-spaced affair- but this place is really an oasis from all that during the weekends. Good things: Right off the Montrose stop, right across the street from an amazing bodega (with a cheap ATM fee) and great drinks. The theme is tradesman, yes, but not overpowering. The cocktails are great, the beer is great, and the tables a-plenty. I would've hit the immense backyard area, but too cold. The bartenders are really generous and friendly. The first time I went to Tradesman was for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. The food was pretty great but their customer service was absolutely horrible. The staff wasn't friendly whatsoever. That totally ruined it for me and has stuck with me ever since. I decided to give it another shot and stopped by for drinks a few nights ago and had the same horrible experience with unfriendly staff. I love coming here. It's a super relaxed environment for the most part. I love the crispin hard cider. The $4 happy hour specials are awesome. The brunch lasts until 5 on Saturday and Sunday so that's awesome. The bartenders aren't the friendliest but I'm not one of those people looking to unload my problems on them. As long as they keep my drinks coming and they make them correctly , they don't need to be Mary poppins lol. P.S. Lol to the review about the rude doorman. One of my favorite bars in the neighborhood! The feel of this place is very welcoming and laid back. Lots of seating inside and also in the garden. Any bar that has outdoor space is always good. When those cool, summer Brooklyn Nights hit where you just need a drink. This is where to go. The staff is friendly and it's a nice place to hangout. Might be my favorite bar in Brooklyn. Not only is it my neighbor but this is where I had my first date with my love so it has a special place in my heart. But besides that lol it's just perfect for whatever occasion you want it to be. The back yard is my favorite touch for more laid back open air vibes, or take it inside at the bar for more Romantic date vibe or sit at one of the tables for a gathering of friends vibe. The happy hour is the best and it goes late so that's a plus. I like to think of this bar as more chill but then I came here on New Years after we snuck out of a party early and it was a blasssst. And the music is always on point. Sometimes it's like a lil Spanish guitar sometimes more classics but whatever it is it's never too loud where you can't have a convo. The staff were rude and condescending. We asked for an appetizer and weren't satisfied with the order so we kindly asked to get something else instead. They charged us for both appetizers and proceeded to argue with us about why we were charged for something we did not eat. This has never happened to me at a restaurant before when I've explained I just didn't like or expect what was given to me. The food wasn't the most tasteful either. Happy hour until 9pm...just make sure to order well liquor b/c tho the menu states that it includes house specialties (and your favorites) it means your favorites made with well liquor. I was a little confused and maybe should have asked first...but the menu lists beers and well drinks and then goes on to say it includes the specialties & your favs so I assumed that specialties were made with higher quality liquors...last night the bartender told me nope haha. It deeply saddens me to have to write this review however, i feel it must be done. I had the WORST bar experience here ever, and I've been to a lot of bars. Sunday night into Monday morning, at about 1 AM one of my friends suggested Tradesman as her all-time favorite bar. She said she goes there all the time and that she LOVED it. We went. Ordered a few rounds of delicious shots and drinks. Some other friends joined us. Ultimately, it was six of us who were there as paying customers. The bartender announced last call, we got our last drinks and continued to sip on them. At around 2:30am, the bartender (who had been super nice up to this point) screamed that we all needed to get the *eff* out. We were shocked, my jaw dropped. I think she realized we were taken aback, and she apologized. Said it wasn't how she meant it. One of my female friends and I decided to use the bathroom before we left. We went into the single stall bathroom together (as girls often do). Suddenly there was loud aggressive banging at the door. We finished our business, washed our hands, and went back out into the bar. We found that it was the "bus boy" who had banged on the bathroom door. He wanted to ensure there was no "funny business" happening inside. Two of my friends had gone to get the car and so four of us remained. One of my friends who remained at the table as we went to the restroom stated that the busboy came to clear the tables. He tried to take our drinks which were still half full. She told him that we had not finished them to which he replied "they have 80 seconds to finish them". At this point we were appalled. I loudly stated "Let's finish our drinks that we chose to buy here with our hard earned money." The busboy and bartender realized we were unhappy. Somehow all five of us got into a heated discussion. The bartender and the busboy tried to explain that *sometimes* people try to go to the bathrooms and hang around on purpose and they assumed that's what we were doing. The busboy (who's from Hawaii as we were told) made some comment that because we were native New Yorkers we were the minority in Bushwick and that they didn't know if we were going to be troublemakers. My friend who frequents the place was super disappointed in the service. The Bartender even admitted to having seen her there before. If they knew she was a regular, why would they treat us this way?? After both sides spoke their peace, everyone shook hands. The bartender and the busboy "thanked us" for giving our feedback. They shook our hands and we parted ways. As a paying customer it is extremely disappointing to have to explain HOW to run a business. Had they come to our table, explained they needed to close up the bar ASAP, we would have been MORE than accommodating. However, when they criminalize us, aggressively force us out, and ASSUME we're going to be troublemakers - i have a problem. The drinks were great. The employees, not so much. Based on the service - i would not recommend this place EVER. read more

Incredible service, tasty and thoughtful drinks, backyard, cozy seating, clean bathrooms and nice decor. But, brunch is where it's at, the menu is small, creative and ridiculously tasty. We had the CLT (I think that's what it was called), the smoked trout plate (perfect little pancakes with smoked trout, horseradish sauce and roe) and the deviled eggs (with the perfect amount of truffle oil). I live around the corner, and Tradesman has become one of my regular haunts. Cheap drinks, friendly staff. It's cash only, but there's an ATM. During the summer, their outdoor space is nice. Sometimes I'll walk by on Friday and Saturday nights, and it'll be packed inside. It's a pretty unassuming place from the outside, so that was unexpected. They just started doing brunch, and it was fantastic. I got the acorn squash with orzo and greens. It was hearty and filling, but not heavy--exactly what I was looking for. My boyfriend, who does not have a sweet tooth, got the challah french toast and was in love. They had a lavender lemonade cocktail that was good. For 2 entrees and 4 drinks, the bill was $39. Had the worst experience here. A group of friends decided we wanted to hang out locally after a bbq and the minute we walked in the bartender was unwelcoming and very rude. She ended up getting into an argument with one of the girls and starting clapping her hand in the girls face. The whole event was just really uncalled for.
